#mourning dove
Jan 29, 2022 -A Mourning dove, in the middle of the blizzard, resting on top of one of my feeders.
This dove stayed there for quite a while, and I started to be really concerned that it wasn’t going to make it. This window feeder is on the south side of the house so it was a bit sheltered from the driving cold wind.
I waited a bit before going out to clear the feeders from a buildup of snow which I had had to do a few times today, because I didn’t want to disturb this bird, but finally went out because the other birds were having a hard time getting at the seed.
The dove stayed there for while I cleared off all the other feeders. I was somewhat relieved when it flew off to a nearby shrub and seemed to be doing ok. It was tough out there today for the birds.

The beginning of May,
my favorite month of the year, is also the point in time when the serviceberry blooms. And everybody comes to pose in front of it. (male Rosebreasted Grosbeak, Blue Jay, Grackle (‘tis the Count himself!), MoDo, female Redwinged Blackbird, female Rosebreasted Grosbeak)

Mourning Dove was a concept that got scrapped so long ago, recycled because he didn’t quite fit in how i wanted to.
But it’s a concept i couldn’t let die, so he’s back with a new face for a new story <3

My dad gave me a GoPro-type camera he wasn’t using. I’m currently tinkering around with it to spy on neighborhood birds (like the mourning dove here), but I’d like to eventually use it for my specific interests. I’m not sure how. Attach it to myself and let people come along with me on hikes? I can do time lapses with it but they’re probably not super high quality. I’m open to suggestions.
there is a specific mourning dove on my fire escape that is so horny. like SO horny. i cant remember how many times ive been woken up at exactly 4am to the sound of his mating calls. i got a whopping 3.5 hours of sleep last night. why? you ask. its because this fucking horny bitch bird woke me up at 6:32am in the morning. now im laying in bed and this stupid bird is still screaming “wanna fuck? wanna fuck? whoo! whoo!” 2 feet away from my head.
