I did my thesis on eugenics and forced sterilization in Canadian history (indigenous specific) and the next cis woman to say that men should collectively be forced to get vasectomies for points on some kind imaginary scoreboard of rights is getting sent a copy of the records I had to sift thru of men, mostly indigenous, racialized, developmentally disabled, or poor men, being sterilized against their wills and often without their knowledge.
I once again must remind people that “don’t like abortion, get a vasectomy” isn’t the gotcha you think it is, and that reproductive justice means supporting people who are targeted by the state both for forced birth AND for sterilization and child apprehension, as they’re linked closely.
Cishet men love to project. Like, you all are so scared of being single and lonely your whole lives that your brain cannot compute the idea of a woman who would rather remain single than settle just for the sake of being in a relationship. Like, if I’m with you and I have a realization I’m happier on my own than clearly the relationship isn’t worth it.

The amount of men who come into my DMs criticizing me over my boundaries and trying to strike fear into me by telling me I’m going to be “single forever” is very telling. Also, bonus points if they invaded my inbox to tell me I’m “sexy” only to tell me I’m not that good looking when I reject them lmao.
Incidentally, this is a great example of why it is absolutely vital to defend human rights in all cases; the instant people work out which categories are publicly viewed as indefensible, they start figuring out how to fold other types of undesirables into those category.
Eg. Pornography criminalized? Great, information about birth control, sexual education, and writing by feminists and LGBTQ people are all pornography now.
Terrorism? Literally all activists are terrorists if you put a good enough spin on it! Easy.
And, of course, “sex offenders” includes teenagers who take nude selfies, sex workers of basically all kinds, LGB people in jurisdictions that criminalize gay sex, often trans people in ones that criminalize crossdressing…
Fucking kills me how diet culture has ruined bread. Bread! One of the oldest and most universal foods on earth! The thing that connects us to each other and to our ancestors whose names and faces are lost to history! And some dipshits decided that it’s “so bad for you” because they’re scared of carbs and love shaming fat people.
Every single cop show is like oh look how these cool badass protags just wanna do their job but the obnoxious pencil-pushers back at the office keep getting in the way by trying to make them follow due conduct and the very obvious criminal keeps maliciously obstructing them by invoking their legal rights and wouldn’t they be able to do their job so much better and faster if they were allowed to just follow their gut and do whatever it takes to arrest the person they already pinned down as the dangerous criminal? And then people eat it up and go on the internet to make youtube comments about how refusing to speak with the cops without a lawyer is extremely suspicious behavior.

When fandom says it wants fanfic to be treated like literature, they want it without the constructive criticism and analysis literature often gets. It reminds me too much of how gaming is art and there were gamers who pushed for it to be as such. Then when it started to be viewed as art, critiqued and analyzed those very gamers screamed bloody murder and that that wasn’t what they meant.

One thing I don’t think the Spoon metaphor has helped able-bodied people understand is that you can overdraw.
Generally, for most conditions, running out of spoons doesn’t mean you collapse, doesn’t produce an effect they can actually see. What it means is that you run on life support, quite possibly unsafely, until you get to a safe place and can stop. But you’ll owe those spoons back, with interest. You’ll have hurt yourself to do it.
Sometimes I hang out with a friend and they’ll be like, wow, I’m really glad you had a good day. And I have to decide whether to make them feel bad by explaining that in fact they did not catch me on a good day, and tomorrow will probably be bad. I just made choices.
