As you may have guessed, the relationship between Shikamaru and Hidan was strained. Since Shikamaru did not find support in his protest against the mobilization of the criminal, in peacetime he opposed restricting Hidan’s freedom of movement. The Sixth Hokage accepted this idea, and for one year Hidan received a ban on leaving Konoha, and at the same time a squad of guards.

Due to the cautious attitude towards him, Hidan did not receive tasks as a Konoha’s ninja for a long time. Despite his position as a jounin, he lived on the outskirts in poverty and often received refusals from employees of shops or cafes who did not want to serve the former criminal. Even the houses of the red quarter often didn’t want him as a guest.

Anyway, Hidan treated everything indifferently, didn’t resent and did not file complaints, did his lil work well and soon, when Naruto took office as Hokage, he was able to receive more tasks and prove himself an excellent Shinobi of the old generation.

|2022 Flubruary Event|

Week 1: Attraction|Day 4: You find yourself locked in the storage room with Shikamaru and he is oddly calm.

Pairing: Shikamaru Nara x gn!Reader

You shook the door handle in despair, kicking your foot into the wooden plane a few more times before giving up with a long sigh, retreating back to make an announcement. “I’m sorry for the trouble, but we’re locked in here.”

“I was about to call maintenance to have the door fixed the other day but an urgent matter popped up.” You sat down warily, trying to explain yourself to the customer who asked to visit the storage room of your board games shop. To you, he looked indescribably familiar, resembling one of your store’s old customers, but you could not pinpoint exactly who it was. The man was looking for something that was not on display at the moment. He kindly offered to come in and help you find the item, not knowing that it would result in the two of you being locked up in the narrow space. “My employee will come for her shift very soon, we’ll be able to call for help by then.”

You were trying to be optimistic, even after drying your throat howling into vacancy. However, the customer was still walking around the shelves, totally immersed in what your store had in stock. Sliding down against the door, you wracked your brain to come up with a conversation starter to break the silence. “Are you buying it as a gift?” You asked, pointing at the box he was holding in his arms.

“Yeah,” he nodded, “for my nephew.” The man made his way across the room and sat down a few feet from you, leaning back to rest his head against the door. “How long have you been running this place for?”

“Actually, I’ve acquired the place from my father one year ago.” You smiled and he hummed. The conversation died down again. Then, you inevitably laid your eyes on his face and furrowed your brows—he definitely resembled someone you have met before.

“Quit staring,” he cleared his throat, and you straightened your spine.

“You look like someone I know,” you murmured and added, “but I’m not quite sure.”

“Who?”

“You’re a Shinobi, right?” You narrowed your eyes and he nodded. So you continued, “Your father is also a Shinobi?” Now, you finally recalled Shikaku Nara, a friend of your father who frequented your store back then, clapping your hands in surprise. He mentioned that his son was…“Shikamaru Nara?”

“You know me?”

“Yeah,” you nodded your head. “Your father is my father’s old friend. He told us that he has a son who likes to lie around and do nothing—oh—,” you stopped and immediately fixed your words, “but is really smart.”

Shikamaru’s face darkened, “Troublesome.”

Week 4: True Love|Day 26: Shikamaru challenges you to an unequal Shogi match with a bet that you would benefit either way.

Pairing: Shikamaru Nara x gn!Reader

Note: I’m back! Sorry for the very, very long delay, I just had many things to catch up this week, but I’ll try my best to get the last 2 pieces out ASAP!

Two times in a row, Shikamaru consecutively defeated you in your Shogi matches. Rather than spending quality time with your husband, warming up your relationship with date nights, or cuddling sessions, you were sheerly exposing your vulnerability to the man with your embarrassing Shogi’s skills.

“We will keep playing until you win,” he decided so, placing back the pieces.

You had to hold back an urge to choke him on the spot. If only could you control yourself a tad bit better and not fall for his trap yesterday, you would never have to endure this mentally straining task.

Shikamaru betted that you would sleep through your alarm in the morning, and you, being the prideful person you were, doubled with your determination to go to be early yesterday night, claimed that he would be the one sleeping through the alarm—not you. Since today was Sunday and the both of you had a day off, the loser would need to accommodate the winner’s every single need. Since the morning, he ordered you to make breakfast and now to be his Shogi’s companion.

“It’ll be forever.” At a loss for motivation, you refused to even give the newly arranged Shogi board a decent glance. “Unless you don’t go all out on me.”

“I’ll give you three replays,” he sighed in resignation, “and I bet you won’t be able to win, still.”

“Just you wait,” you fixed your shirt and got ready for the match. It would be a shame to your entire self if you could not win him even with the advantages. “If I win this time then let’s reverse the roles.”

“What if I win?” He raised his brows.

“Then you can continue ordering me around.”

“Isn’t that what we’re already doing?” He asked again. “That’s very unfair of you, Y/N.”

“You playing Shogi with me is unfair from the start.”

Shikamaru could defeat you in Shogi matches but never in bickering fights the two of you had. You gleefully moved your piece and he did not take long to move his. The longer the match went, the more you felt you were falling deeper into a never-ending well of being vanquished. “You said you’d go easy on me.”

“I said I’ll give you three replays and you used them all.” He moved another piece and captured another one of yours, at the same time, checkmated your side. “Your turn.”

“No, no.” You furrowed your brows, reaching forward to get your piece back, “One more time. I didn’t see that.”

When both of your hands were in mid-air and your body launching forward, Shikamaru leveraged the momentum to grab your wrists in his hands, pulling you closer until your faces were inches apart. “Admit it, you won’t be able to beat me.”

You pursed your lips and stared at him in the eyes. “You—”

“Still remember the bet, or do I need to remind you?”

“Fine, what do you want me to do?”

“Kiss me.”
