Fanny cast a wary glance to her Inspector, knowing if she moved anything other than her eyes, she’d find herself swallowing down the bile already threatening to rise in her throat. She wasn’t often carsick, it was just… she closed her eyes as her superior made another fast turn around a blind corner, silently praying the entire time that anothercar wouldn’t be there to greet them when he completed the turn. Troy’s driving wasn’t poor, it was just… rather fast for the narrow dirt roads in the villages.

So, did you ever manage to track down Mrs. Williams bank records? Or her grandfather? I can’t believe she really just received £75,000 from a grandfather we can’t find. For all we know, she could be getting that kind of money from anything. She might be helping people smuggle art pieces or sell raffle tickets or going door-to-door with fish and chips.

The mental image of greasy fish and chips did little to settle her stomach… Fanny pursed her lips, knowing that there wereinstances where seemingly poor persons came into sudden wealth. Her own parents were poor, what with having far more children than they could afford; but Fanny herself had been raised with her Uncle and Aunt Bertram, and they were well off, so well off that often their neighbors in Midsomer Worthy liked to forget the fact that Fanny was never to inherit any of their wealth. Still, if by some bizarre act of God, all her cousins and their spouses – as well as her older brother – turned up deceased, Fanny wouldbe the next living heir.

“Mrs. Williams has one surviving grandfather. No current address for him on record. I’m expecting a call from London.” She paused before adding her own thoughts to their conversation. “Sir, couldn’t Mrs. Williams’ grandfather have also inherited the wealth?”

Follow the money, that was the first lesson often taught on oldies cop shows, though in this case, it seemed odd that Mrs. Williams’ grandfather, Mr. Williams, would naturally have £75,000 at his disposal. She didn’t have the man’s current address, but she had his previous address from about ten years prior, and that location was a small apartment in an affordable housing neighborhood in Liverpool.

That mentally ill feel™ when you can’t tell physical sickness from symptoms.
