Le Parador, a Spanish-inspired mid-century modernist villa in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre outside Brussels designed by architect Jacques Dupuis for his surgeon brother Paul-Victor and his family in 1946, today maintained by the latter’s son, Christian Dupuis.
An Aubusson tapestry depicting the Battle of Troy dominates the cedar paneled dining room, which is punctuated by a Baroque-inspired star-decorated white frame for an aquarium and wrought ironwork at a narrow window depicting stars and the sun. The dining table and elegantly curved dining chairs are mahogany.

Bulgarian St. Stephen Church, also known as the Bulgarian Iron Church, famous for being made of cast iron. An iron frame was preferred to concrete reinforcement due to the weak ground conditions. Designed in a combination of different styles by Hovsep Aznavur, an Armenian of Constantinople origin and it was manufactured in Vienna and then shipped to Constantinople, where it was inaugurated in 1898. In terms of architecture, the church combines Neo-Gothic and Neo-Baroque influences. Now St Stephen is one of the world’s few surviving prefabricated cast iron churches.

Later, in the 19th century, the current mosque, ordered by Sultan Abdülmecid I and designed by architects (father and son) Garabet Amira Balyan and Nigogayos Balyan in Neo-Baroque style, was edificed between 1854 and 1856.
