#new doctor

LIVE

I haven’t written about my doctor appointments, the physical and a check in with the pain doc, because, up until now, they’ve been uneventful. Just “hi, yeah, you still have a messed up body, but you’re fixing it. Peace.”

This last one, on the 1st, was eventful. It was my chronic pain doctor and was supposed to be a med check where he gave me my prescriptions. I have to get my prescriptions from the pain clinic the week before I run out, not stressful at all.

Last time we agreed that I was at the level that worked for me, but this time we talked and he decided that he wanted to try backing me down some more.
Here’s the game plan; before I took 3 painkillers a day, morning afternoon and evening. I’m working towards 2 a day. So right now I take 2 every other day. Unfortunately this week a storm is moving around, so that’s rad. Fortunately I have video games and such to help me deal.

I have my next appointment in an hour, so this is going to be quick and messy. Sorry Grammer nuts. Turns out my old pain specialist decided to “pursue other options outside of pain management” leaving me and his other patients at the clinic, but paired with different doctors.
Here’s hoping she’s a good fit.

Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor regeneration was everything he deserved. Twelve was the most tormented Doctor, the most haunted by his past, so full of secret pains we would never know about. He really felt like he was hiding back so much, and was putting on a mask so much of the time. Seeing the Doctor find peace in himself, and the optimism in himself (herself!!!) for the future, was absolutely incredible. I honestly can’t think of a more suiting end for Twelve. It was bittersweet, but I feel like I can comfortably and peacefully say goodbye.

And on that note, bring on Jodie Whittaker!!!

All the covers of Doctor Who Magazine featuring the ‘New Doctor’ published since 1981.

We’ve noticed rumours floating around that Hugh Grant could be the next Doctor. How would you feel if this were true?

“The first face this face saw”… thing…has kind of an impact on the Doctor’s accent.  I mean, the nextDoctor’s accent.

Ten and Rose sounded kinda similar (…and so did Eleven), Twelve literally turned into a Scotsman. And now Jodie’s the Doctor, and what a woonderful coincidence…she’s northern.

Just saying, you know..

The BBC has today announced Ncuti Gatwa is the new Doctor set to take charge of the TARDIS.

Star of stage and screen, Ncuti is best known for his critically acclaimed performance in Sex Education as the iconic Eric Effiong, for which he was awarded Best Actor Award at the Scottish BAFTA’s in 2020 as well as numerous nominations including Best Male Performance in a comedy programme at this year’s BAFTA’s.

Speaking of his new role, Ncuti said: “There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared. This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my upmost to do the same. Russell T Davies is almost as iconic as the Doctor himself and being able to work with him is a dream come true. His writing is dynamic, exciting, incredibly intelligent and fizzing with danger. An actor’s metaphorical playground. The entire team have been so welcoming and truly give their hearts to the show. And so as much as it’s daunting, I’m aware I’m joining a really supportive family. Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart but I am giving it all to this show.”

Russell T Davies, Showrunner adds: “The future is here and it’s Ncuti! Sometimes talent walks through the door and it’s so bright and bold and brilliant, I just stand back in awe and thank my lucky stars. Ncuti dazzled us, seized hold of the Doctor and owned those TARDIS keys in seconds. It’s an honour to work with him, and a hoot, I can’t wait to get started. I’m sure you’re dying to know more, but we’re rationing ourselves for now, with the wonderful Jodie’s epic finale yet to come. But I promise you, 2023 will be spectacular!”
