LIVE

Hey all, Chichi’s mom here. I hate to do this but my parents home was destroyed in the Marshall Canyon fire in Colorado this afternoon: they had less than 30mins to evacuate, they grabbed a few days of meds and clothes, wallets and ID, phones, a tablet, and their birds (not even a travel cage, they shoved the big one in the back seat ), and ran. They’re safe at my aunt’s up north and my brother and his wife and pets are safe as well (their neighborhood was evacuated but didn’t burn yet at least), but everything in that house I didn’t list (including, sadly, their fish)? Gone. Everything they owned, plus 85% of my belongings (excepting only what is here in Japan), including wedding stuff, every one of my books, CDs, DVDs, family heirlooms, childhood toys, instruments, my dad’s art studio and all of his work….everything. So I’m out almost everything, and they’re homeless heading into 2022, with the four birbs, too.

We are planning to move back to the states in April/May (with the birb), and now we won’t have a place to stay, and my parents don’t even have a week of clothes or meds. If anyone is able to help, either by donating funds (you can specify for me or for my parents, they need it more but we do, too) or items (say, bird stuff, clothes, books, whatever), could you please get in touch? Thank you. Be safe. Happy New Year.

Night-night. Love you mommy.

Nico passed away peacefully in his sleep later that day, about 10:20pm, September 24th, 2021, aged about 9.5, exactly 2 weeks shy of the day we found each other at the pet store 9 years ago.

Sad news today…last week, after a sudden prolonged seizure, our anxious bean Phichit passed away unexpectedly. The vets said there was nothing to be done, so we held him as long as possible in a warm towel and made him as comfortable as we could until he passed. Nico is managing, confused, but managing, so we’ll be okay, it’s just very sad in our house right now.

We’ll miss you, special little beeb, you overcame so much and we all loved you lots.

…what? I’m doing being mommy right!!!

Note: eggs are definitely not fertile. Also, all that gunk on the cage floor? From destroying toys, rags, and nesting supplies we put in the cage that this dodo refuses to use instead of just sitting on the g-d bars…

I drowned but on purpose

(I know I keep posting bath pictures but this was seriously EPIC, 30 minutes of sitting in the bath and splishing, screaming if we tried to put it away…wow)
