#naptime
Sorry, humans. I haven’t done asks over the last couple of days and I may not today or tomorrow.
It’s down to a few things:
- I’m sick with something that likes to give me the Zero Energies, the Low Grade Fever and the Crushing Headache which is Impervious to All Treatments
- I had car trouble the other day that robbed me of about 6 hours worth of sleep, which pushed back everything I needed to do by a day
I barely had the energy to do this:
To give you a rough idea, that pile of books weighs more than @scripttorture. Getting it to the post office and mailed ate me alive, and now it’s bedtime.

Nap Time
It’s always good for regressors to nap in the afternoons! So get your stuffies, your paci, and get comfy!
Cudde your stuffie/s! Being wrapped in a blanket with the AC on feels like you’re being cuddled, even when you’re alone or your caregiver isn’t around.
Lullabies, lo-fi, asmr, and nature sounds helps with sleep. I love listening to rain and ocean sounds because its so relaxing after being big!
Use the 4-7-8 method! Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds!
Use a natural lavender oil! Diffusing it or rubbing it on your feet relaxes your body and mind and makes it a little easier for you to drift off to sleep.
It’s ok if you can’t get to sleep. Just laying in your bed and relaxing can boost your mood when big and small. It’s also ok to miss your nap if you can’t fall asleep at all. Have a quiet afternoon instead!

Surrounded by cichlids, Daisy the #hippo naps in surprisingly clear water. Hippopotami each produce hundreds of pounds of poop a day, and mostly while they’re soaking. When large groups of hippos congregate in rivers, the sheer amount of excrement that accumulates can result in such deoxygenated water that aquatic life downstream literally suffocates! When hippos are in human care, that preference for pooping underwater can make it very hard for their pool water to stay clear enough for zoo guests to actually see the animals: new exhibits, like this one that opened at the Fort Worth Zoo in 2018, are designed with truly heroic water filtration systems to address that problem. Another solution? Those cichlids aren’t just in the tank because pretty fish add another visual dimension.
