Dark days full of despair
Today I woke up to find out that my country attacked it’s neighbor.
Attacked in the night, without a declaration of war, the same way as Hitler did it to us in 1941.
I don’t have words to describe how ashamed I am now to be a Russian. How heartbroken I am to see what will forever be the legacy of my country.
I didn’t choose this president. I voted against him and his for as long as I could vote. So did everyone I know. But in Russia it means nothing. People’s voice means nothing. No one wanted this war. No one agreed to this war. But what Putin wants he does and if anyone is in a disagreement- he has a lot of jails and prisons to fill.
I have family and friends and colleagues in Ukraine and I’m so scared for them. No one of my Ukrainian colleagues were able to work today, they are trying to escape the danger, they are trying to understand what to do now, they are trying to understand this new horrifying world we found ourselves in.
This should’ve never happened. Russia and Ukraine were never supposed to become enemies. Everyone I know have relatives and friends across the border. We were always connected more than any other countries in the World. But one man thought himself above laws, above morality, above life itself and now we find ourselves here.
As of now, the only thing we can do is to not let them twist the narrative. We must speak up as much as we can. We must keep saying no to war. We must keep demanding them to stop. We must keep shouting the truth. Even if they won’t listen, even if they try and silence us. We must keep shouting if not for anything else then our conscience, for he has none.
I hope against everything that one day he will pay for all his crimes in the most gruesome way. It’s the only thing that keeps me going.

You again missed the whole point and managed to make this situation all about yourself, so I’m going to assure your stupid ass - this war is not going to affect you in any way, but you know who it’s going to affect? Actual people from Ukraine, who are going to lose their lives and be displaced from their homes, just like for the past 8 years.
So congratulations on your stupidity, because it’s not about “I need a way to cope ”, it’s about you celebrating and making fun of other people’s death.
