There was a lot of information about this. The most helpful were outcome studies from people who had donated, and first person accounts of what the surgeries were like. A lot of the information on official sites was just repeating the same things.
So there are a lot of things you can donate. Most people are aware of blood, plasma, and marrow. I can’t donate blood, even if I did stop sleeping with gay/bi people (thanks, Canadian Blood Services) there is a general exclusion for people from the UK (thanks, spongiform encephalitis).
Kidney’s out, because mine are badly formed and make rocks. So that leaves us with liver and lung. There are no non-directed (anonymous) lung transplants in Toronto. But liver….
It’s been a while but I need your help! After 18 years I am being considered for a kidney transplant at John Hopkins, however since I live in another state I need to raise money to travel back and forth, parking, housing, and food before, during, and after transplant.
