#support black women
This week’s PBG Money Monday is featuring Onya'e Naturals, a small batch vegan natural skin care line by Jasmine Onya'e Kelley.
Jasmine, who is also I a photographer and graphic designer, started looking into the idea in college as a part of a project. She researched pure ingredients from the kitchen that would be helpful for the face, body and hair. What emerged eventually became a mini skincare line! Jasmine currently has products like a bentonite clay mask, a hydrating sweet rose toner, lavender peppermint and mint rose lip balms, and a decadent skin salve with ingredients such as coconut oil, arrowroot powder, and sweet almond oil.

The salon just opened its doors for business in September and it is gorgeous.

Lizzo is Queen
Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known professionally as Lizzo, is an award winning singer, rapper, songwriter and flutist.
Lizzo is multifaceted
Lizzo is multitalented
Lizzo is stunning
Lizzo is beautiful
Lizzo is a trailblazer
Lizzo is a real model
Lizzo is an influencer
Lizzo is hard working
Lizzo deserves all her trophies and accolades
Lizzo doesn’t deserve to be hated on for being a “big girl”
Lizzo doesn’t deserve to be disrespected for being comfortable in her own skin
Lizzo doesn’t deserve to be ridiculed for being vulnerable
Lizzo doesn’t deserve to be harnessed by the so-called body positive community, when she decides to prioritise her physical health and wellness
Lizzo doesn’t have to be your cup of tea but she is loved by millions, including me.
Lizzo is a phenomenal Black woman
Period.
If Adele and other non Black women like her can be celebrated solely on their talents, so should Lizzo.
It is a great shame that Black women in the music industry only achieve mainstream success if they are overtly sexual i.e.raunchy, eye candy, sole purpose to provide sexual pleasure (typically to men)
And of course fair skinned, slim, basically far removed from presenting any African phenotypical features.
Please support Black women for their God given talents the way you honour and celebrate Adele (a white woman) for just being a singer/songwriter.
Lizzo is basically the Black equivalent of [big] Adele only Lizzo has a more bubbly personality.
Some might say Adele comes without any gimmicks, that may be true but remember the barrier to international stardom and success isn’t the same for Black women ♀️

Simone Biles
She didn’t quit
She didn’t give up
She didn’t cower
She did what we have been taught
Is the one thing
Magical Black Women
CAN NOT DO
Put ourselves first
Our health
Our bodies
Our minds
Our talent
Our desires
Our strength
Our beauty
Our genius
Our abilities to fly
To soar
To win
Are supposed to be laid at the feet
Of whiteness
Of this nation
Of this world
Offered up like a sacrifice
The rent we are expected to pay
To be seen as
Athlete
Entertainment
Disposable
But never whole
Worthy of protection
Worthy of peace
We are never supposed to
Get off the stage
Leave the competition
Demand solace
Without permission
Permission to be human
Permission to rest
Permission that is always
Denied
She did what
Black Women
are told
We can not do
She took her power
And walked away
She determined what was best
For her
For her soul
Her heart
Her life
We are watching
Learning
Following the trails blazed
Rest should not be a Revolution
But it is
And she is
And that is worth more than
Any medal or title
On earth

Dear BLM protestors, organisers, leaders and general black tumblr,
I had an idea for allies to be more helpful but I’m not sure how to start and don’t want to do it if it will be more unhelpful so I wanted to check with you first
I know a lot of white allies have been unsure how to help so either don’t do anything or actually drown out the voices we’re trying to amplify e.g flooding #blm with black squares. My idea is kind of an ‘ally passport’, a basic template you can post to your social media (or even put up irl if needed) with info like where you are and what you can do to help. E.g for me it might be England, can sign petitions, do research and be a friend (because I’m not well enough to do other stuff). That way all the info is there clearly for black organisers to see and easily direct allies without having to sift through flooded tags or answer loads of individual questions when they have enough to deal with. Basically a system to spend less time herding cats and more time pointing people where you want them
Would this be helpful?
