Hi folks, this is Taluns/ Jordan here. I was the creator, Art Director and Community Manager of Paleo Pines, and I spent the last few months running this blog.
It’s with a heavy heart that I’m announcing that I will no longer be running this blog.
I have left Italic Pig and the Paleo Pines team due to creative & professional differences. I wish the team the best moving forward with the project.
This blog will be defunct and will no longer update. It will remain online for everyone to revisit the art and videos however. If Italic Pig choose to create a new Paleo Pines blog, I will be sure to create another update and forward you all to it. In the meantime you can keep up with development on the official twitter account.
The Paleo Pines community brought me immeasurable joy over the last few months and I would like to thank every one of you for making this experience so fulfilling.
When I would have a bad day, I would pop online and see some great fanart or funny speculation that would instantly lift my heart back up. Game development can be tough and stressful, but that always put that all into perspective, reminded me what we were working so hard for. It really helped to ground me during those tough times. Thank you everyone, I will never forget this.

The Desert is an expansive, scorching and demanding wilderness location. It challenges the player with many terrain obstacles and more difficult dinos to tame.
Despite the seemingly unforgiving environment, the locals are renowned for their hospitality and generosity. There are also areas of beautiful plant life, rock formations and places of refuge, such as and oasis which attracts large visitors!

Meet the Paleo Pines Ankylosaurus!
Ankylosaurus is a sweet, lackadaisical steed with a dozy yet charming personality. Although quite easy to tame, they have a big appetite and don’t take kindly to missing a meal. They are one of the slower steeds in Paleo Pines but their impressive stamina and strength allow them to carry large inventories over long distances, making it a popular choice amongst builders and travelling merchants.

Meet Pippin!
Pippin is a chef who specialises in selling Treats and creating new Treat recipes, which can be used to tame new dinos!
Although initially quite dramatic, snappy and a bit of a gremlin, you can win over them by helping them gather some rare ingredients.
Pippin usually spends about 14 hours a day just cooking and eating food, collecting funnily-shaped vegetables and refusing to leave the swamp.
Their dimetrodon partner, Pudding is a big grumpy diva, growing quite a bit larger than the average dimetrodon by snatching up leftover treats. Although generally huffy and mistrustful of strangers, he is absolutely spoiled rotten by Pippin.

Meet Paleo Pines’ Deinonychus
Deinonychus is an energetic and curious raptor companion found in shady, riverside locations.
This small dino doesn’t like exposed spaces and must be kept in groups of at least 3 or else they’ll get lonely and sad!
If tamed, they can accompany the player on adventures and help track down specificly selected dinos.

Gallimimus is a common dino found throughout Paleo Pines. They are beloved for their wide range of plumage colours and easy care requirements.
Their curious and silly nature makes them popular amongst ranchers of all ages, but don’t be fooled- they make a great steed due to their swift movement and ability to sprint!

Meet Owynn!
Owynn is a dino researcher and writer, who will enthusiastically teach you how to provide for your dinos, and then gets frazzled when he realises he’s rambling!
Although charming and polite, he easily gets overwhelmed and stressed by his workload.His Gallimimus partner Bongo is not a particularly helpful assistant either.
His three favourite things are milky coffee, Gallimimus flocks and a good statistic.

Meet the Paleo Pines Iguanodon
Iguanodon are known for their slow pacing and “grumpy old man” personality. Although commonly found in wooded locations, it can be quite hard to gain their trust. They have a stubborn and huffy nature and would rather keep to themselves.
Once won over however, they are typically the hardest working dino on the ranch.

Meet Marlo!
Marlo is Paleo Pine’s most skilled woodworker and carpenter.
He’ll construct any structures and upgrades on your ranch. He’s a man of few words, preferring to get absorbed into his work than chatting.
Despite his initial shyness and lack of conversation, you soon learn his true passion is creating nature inspired sculptures from old wood.
His sculptures are beautifully intricate and elegant, but will his apprehension over his skills stop him from sharing his art with the world?
His Iguanodon partner, Poco is unusually clingy for an Iguanodon and will even get nervous if not given enough attention or is by himself for too long. He also has the tendency to loudly honk when upset or bored, to Marlo’s dismay.

Paleo Pines Creative Challenge
We are running a challenge over on our >>Discord server<<!
The challenge is simply to create something Paleo Pines themed. This can be absolutely anything from drawings, paintings, sculptures, animation, baking, writing, music, costumes, embroidery, needle-felting, jewellery, coding, anything goes!
