Look at the growth structure of this ponytail palm (Beaucarnea recurvata): the stem has been growing uncut for many years so there is just a single growth point ( 2). Compare this to the usual way of cultivating a ponytail palm - a thick trunk that had been cut, which gives rise to multiple growth points at the stump and thinner leaves. It’s nice to see some mature specimens!
