A lovely new podfic for you. This time I’m reading a cute little Harry Potter flavored bit for the Cormoran Strike fandom, written by meansovermotive (who I thought had a Tumblr but maybe I’m wrong…someone clue me in).
Just tossed up a new episode from my favorite series by one of my favorite authors. Not sure if she’s on Tumblr…and if she is, why I don’t follow her, so if she is, please someone let me know.

@purimgifts is an annual all-fandoms-welcome exchange for fanfic and/or podfic (either or both, participant’s choice!) with a side-helping of art, focusing on characters who’re at least one of: women, Jewish or persecuted by evil viziers.
This choice of focus is because @purimgifts celebrates the Jewish Holiday of Purim, which commemorates one smart orphan-girl saving her people from genocide (plotted by the king’s vizier) and becoming a queen while she’s at it. You totes don’t have to be Jewish to participate, in case that wasn’t obvious.
ALL fandoms eligible! We won’t reject a fandom unless it’s, like, a romance between a Nazi officer and a Jewish inmate, or something else of that sort and scale. (We can’t promise a match on Very Rare fandoms.)
Fanfic/Podfic/either - you choose! @purimgifts allows for requesting or offering podfic, fanfic or either. Your request and your offer don’t have to match!

So, a while ago, some of my friends and fellow cast members of the @sansukhpodfic asked about how to make and edit podfic on their own. I created this tutorial for them, as a supplement to the resources already posted by the Sansukh mods. In the wake of the most recent @auralphonic episode asking for technical advice on podficcing in Audacity, I thought I would polish this up and post it.
This tutorial explains how, once you have permission to record a story, you go about turning it into a podfic using Audacity. It focuses on technical and logistical details, rather than artistic advice, and is cobbled together from my own experience, my knowledge of the mathematics behind signal analysis, and other people’s tutorials. There’s lots of communities and resources out there that give advice on the artistic side (Auralphonic, for example, has an episode for newbies), which I recommend checking out.
Disclaimer: There is no one standard method of doing this! This is the method I have found gives me the best results, personally, but there may be better ways to do this. I strongly recommend checking out other resources for comparison.

My friend @sunlightsymphony has made a beautiful podfic of Lonesome Road - it’s a joy to listen to. This angsty Zimbits fic with a happy ending is one of my favorites. I wrote it for the Heartbreak Fest in 2017, so please note the tags/tw. Enjoy the podfic, it’s amazing!

Ok, so I have decided to make some changes. Really BIG changes. With immediate effect, there will be no more Lockedinjohnlock, lockedinjohnlock-podfics or LockedinPods. I will be using the more generic name of Podfixx. This change is happening throughout all my social sites - Soundcloud, AO3, Tumblr, Twitter, Ko-fi, and any others I can think of.
This is, in no way, to deny my attachment to the Sherlock fandom, but rather to open up opportunities for myself and not be tied quite so tightly into it. I have worked really hard to build my ‘brand’ and am really quite fearful/tearful to let it go but hope that I have a strong enough following now, that you will understand and help me spread the word.
All my work will still be in the same place, none of it will be deleted, it will just be under a different banner! You won’t need to change anything at all, you’ll just see a different name and eventually a different logo and I’m hoping this announcement might go some way towards helping you to not wonder who the heck you’re following!
I have Sherlock podfics done, finished and in progress, booked until early September - they will all be ‘read by Lockedinjohnlock’. All new stories will be ‘read by Podfixx’.
Just to add some excitement into the mix, the next and subsequent Spark!Spoke! newsletter will be read by Sophie Cumberland, my professional narration name.
