A Message from Charlie - Beluga Cams

Every year after the ice breaks up on the Hudson Bay, thousands of beluga whales migrate to the warmer waters of the Churchill River to feed, mate and rear their young.

We’re excited to say, on our newest Pearl of the Planet HD live cam, you can watch these curious creatures up close and in the wild. Thanks to our partners at Sea North Tours and Polar Bears International, the new Beluga Boat Cam provides views underwater and off the bow.

Join Neil, our trusty tour guide every day for a couple of hours as he finds the most amazing vantage points. The next voyage out is today from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT. And upcoming viewing times will be posted at the top of the comments.

Catch a great moment? Keep taking snapshots like these and sharing them for all to enjoy.

Never stop learning,

Charlie / explore.org

P.S. And keep your eye out for the polar bears who are now off the sea ice and waiting for the freeze again.

LET’S FACE IT. MANY HUMANS HATE WILD ANIMALS. ANIMAL MURDER.
Illegal massacre of polar bears by trophy hunters on remote (Russian) Arctic island. Criminal probe is continuing.
4 August 2017 (The Siberian Times) – The gruesome evidence of illegal hunting was found on uninhabited Vilkitsky Island in the Kara Sea.

The carcasses and used gun cartridges were found by members of an ecological clean-up team sent to the remote territory.

Summer thawing meant the polar bear remains became visible.

There are claims that local police initially sought to cover up the crime - possibly suggesting an elite hunting group was involved in the bloody massacre. But the prosecutor’s office subsequently opened a criminal probe.

Andrey Baryshnikov, head of the Russian Centre of Arctic Exploration, said: ‘When they spotted the carcasses they immediately got in touch with me via satellite connection because this is a very serious case.

“We passed the information to the police.”

A case was opened once law enforcement received the gruesome pictures of the polar bear remains

literally when I was in Alaska the thing i was told - REPEATEDLY - was make yourself big for black bears, play dead for a grizzly, and make your peace for a polar bear because if you encounter one and it wants to attack you? that’s it, you are going to die. more than once i was told this by MULTIPLE people both civilian and wildlife professional. this is not a fucking game. it is the largest land predator on earth and you are not going to win in a fight.
