Princess Peach Doll/ How to customize your own dolls

Can you believe that one of the most popular video game characters out there does not have a doll made after her? Sure, there are plenty of plush dolls but not one made out of vinyl with rooted hair. Thus I made it my mission to make one! This DIY may be hard for some of you, as it requires lots of sewing and rerooting (yep, plugging in blonde hair to the scalp of the doll one by one). Luckily if you follow some of these tips, I’m sure you’ll be able to make your own, or perhaps make a creation of your own!

All you really need are:

• Nylon or saran hair you can purchase from websites such as dollyhair.com or restoredoll.com I totally recommend Dollyhair because there are a lot more options to choose from! I purchased about 5 doll hanks. Here’s a good article that will help you decide how much hair you need to get (depending on your doll). 
• Satin fabric. In the case of Princess Peach some pink and hot pink will suffice. You only need ½ a yard for each (and satin fabric is super cheap!)
• Jersey knit fabric for the gloves. again, you don’t need that much fabric! These are dolls we are talking about ;)
• Some details of your choice. I chose some rhinestones (jelly pink and hot pink!). You can also opt out to make it more accurate to the character. I just love the idea of making it shine. 
• For the brooch, I found a bracelet at Michaels that I took apart. Again, you don’t need the exact same one, just use whatever you can find.
• Red and blue rhinestones for the crown
• Gold glitter (less than an ounce)
• A plastic bottle (travel kit version)
• Doll of your choice. I used a 16" Ariel singing doll from the Disney Store

For the crown, all I did was cut the bottom of the bottle into a crown. Then I covered the crown in glue, and dipped it in some gold glitter. I then added the rhinestones and voila! Shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to make. 

The hard part is the dress. If you are good at sewing, then great, if not I suggest looking up tutorials online. What I did, since I’m not good with measuring and sewing either, was took apart the dress that the Ariel doll came in. I played around and made my own pattern. For the hair, here are three (123) different methods as to how you can root the hair. To style, gel the hair with some strong gel. Loop the bangs like shown in the last picture, instead of trying to cut a triangle, as that will not look good (trust me on this!). You can use some string to tie some loops on the hair, like I did. 

Again, this is a hard, but fun tutorial for making your own dolls. While mine took some more effort, you do not have to follow my tutorial step by step. The point is to be creative! If you have any questions please message me! I will be glad to help. 

Does Peachette’s existence mean that Princess Peach was a small gremlin at some point?? I’d imagine she was very rowdy before there were more royal expectations out of her. I mean, she still is pretty rowdy according to the Super Mario Adventures comic, which is my favorite interpretation of Peach
