I saw this post by @alrightcampers1 about the idea of Raphaella being a mechanised Icarus and I loved it so much that I absolutely had to draw it for this prompt.

Marius, Jonny, Nastya, and Brian all sit around the cot. Marius and Jonny have mischievous smiles, Nastya looks foreboding, and Brian smiles placidly. The view turns to show Raph, with her hair chin-length and wearing a sweater vest, sitting in the bed against darkness. Her expression is hard. Her mechanical wings fan out behind her. The other Mechanisms say: “… we fixed your wings.” End ID]
Fun fact one of the songs in my musical is called alone in the universe an since we are allowed to write in a our scripts (so we can underline stuff) and above the title….I may have drawn drumbot Brian and Nastya…I’m not proud but it’s hilarious
I didn’t manage to get a full picture of the lineart from this piece sadly, but I DID take this picture and I almost love it more than the final thing.

The brain rot is strong today so let’s do a mechs daemon au post.
First things first, a little background for my au; mechanization is a traumatizing experience, as we know most of the mechs were on the brink of death when it happened to each of them. This affects their daemons as well, most are unsettled from the procedure, so I’ll be giving them two forms, one was what they had originally settled as (and still take up) and the other most common form they take afterwards. Second, the second forms lend a look into fight, flight, or freeze, as well as possible character development. Third, I’ll be using earth animals since we aren’t aware of any astrobiological entities at the moment. This post will be tge first of two for the main crew + Carmilla and Scuzz. If you all are interested I’ll also do one for the album characters as well.
Jonny and Maisey
Maisey originally settled as a black backed jackal. Small, agile, territorial. Perfect for the harsh world of New Texas. They were each others only confidant on that damned rock. She’s very protective of her Jonny and that got them into trouble more often than not.
The incident that led to Jonny’s mechanization also severed the two of them. You can imagine the shock and heartbreak of finding out not only was your heart replaced but your soul has been completely and irreparably changed because of it. Because of that Maisey stays incredibly close to Jonny at all times unless absolutely necessary. Her secondary for after the jackal is a spotted hyena, a stronger hunter with enough bite force to shatter a human femur, as well as a community seeking creature.
Nastya and Kassian
Kassian settled as a silver fox, sharp, quick witted, and elegant, perfectly befitting for a princess, but everything changed when the revolutionaries attacked. After the mechanization he started taking the form of a black mouse when threatened, easy to hide in her coat pockets and escape to the vents. He’s the one who actively seeks out the companionship of the others and if he’s not on Nastyas heels he can be found curled up with one of the other daemons.
Ashes and Ember
Ah yes, the non-binary arsonist has a naming theme and they’re sticking to it. They settled as a maned wolf right before Mickey found them. Independent, slow to trust, and pragmatic. Where Ember is the bark, Ashes follows with the bite. Even after being unsettled Ember didn’t start taking a secondary form until a few decades of living on the Aurora. They slowly get more comfortable being a cross fox.
Ivy and Rowan
Ivy is unsure what Rowan had settled as before the fire, but she does know that he is very comfortable switching between a great horned owl and lop eared rabbit. One for work and the other for comfort. As we know Ivy’s mechanism doesn’t allow her to retain emotional connections to her memories, that’s where Rowan comes in. He holds emotional ties, but can’t recall an exact date or detail to save their lives.
Occasion: honestly I just love the phrasing here? The use of the active voice, making the stars the subject of the sentence, idk I just think it makes this line very poetic
something i find pretty neat about most of the mechs albums that i’ve never really seen anyone talk about is that the first line in the entire album is usually the album’s name
