the astrological and spiritual meaning of our hair

this is an extremely long post so please grab some refreshments and enjoy! in this post, i cover the meaning and importance of hair length, the hair color and texture manifestations of each graha, when to cut/wash hair for spiritual guidance, the meanings of popular hairstyles today, ancient indian hair styles and more <3

historically, long hair has often been a symbol of femininity and prestige. however, there is a deeper significance to long hair. it is said the spinal cord is like an upturned tree, the hair serving as a tree’s roots, and the afferent and efferent nerves of the hair as branches. according to the writings of yogananda, “like an upturned plant, man similarly absorbs through his hair electric currents helpful to the body.”. the hair naturally acts like an extremely powerful energetic magnetic and absorbs it’s surrounding energies. therefore, the longer the hair, the more energy it draws to the brain. the hair follicles serve as the roots due to their exorbitant nature, these follicles transfer their absorbed energy to the nervous system (via the sensory nerve fibers and hair follicle plexus). this is why there is a higher concentration of hair on our heads, as that is where the base of our energy lies. by keeping our hair long, we are able to draw from the ether around us and absorb a greater quantity of cosmic rays.

this increased susceptibility to outer energies can unfortunately cause issues with those who are particularly unable to handle the energies of others or those who are surrounded by primarily negative energies in general. there was an analogy i read once that perfectly sums up this reasoning. “have you noticed, if you prune a tree, the tree focuses its energy towards the pruned area and the number of leaves that come out in that part of the tree in the next fifteen to thirty days are much more than in other parts of the tree? this happens because the tree directs its energy in the direction of the pruned area. the same thing happens in your body.”. if one suddenly removes their hair, the will likely feel the energies they so desperately crave move in that direction. to clarify, you probably have noticed how if someone is particularly struggling with their mental health, they like to cut or shave their hair. the buzz cut has become synonymous with female strength. as hair is, and always has been, a reflection of our identity. cutting/shaving one’s hair usually stems from a desire to wipe the slate clean. you will particularly notice lunar women choosing to shave their heads the most, as lunar natives are naturally highly susceptible to their surroundings energies, due to their increased intuition. by removing their hair, they can focus their energy inward and align with the plexus follicles of their hair. there is a certain type of sadhana (spiritual practice) to shaving the hair. in this sadhana, people do not just shave their head whenever they wish to. in this practice, they shave their hair on shivarathri, one day before amavasya (the new moon). on that day, the day of amavasya, and the following day, there is an upsurge of energy in the human system, which can be accelerated by the shaving of one’s head. the hair is removed because there is sadhana attached to our hair follicles. if there is no sadhana attached to you, its removal would barely make a difference.

it is actually energetically contradictory for most people to shave their heads. people want to remove their to receive reprieve, but when someone has never shaved their head in their life, they run the risk of becoming mentally imbalanced because they are unable to handle the excessive energy that is now following inward. think of it this way: it’s one thing to be subjected to feeling the outer influences of others via long hair and another thing to feel devoid of outer energy and solely being abundant in your own energy. if your mind/spirit is negative, it will worsen with the removal of your hair. this is why shaving one’s hair is important for self reflection, as you are able to truly understand the state of your spirit and the effects it has on your body.

if shaving one’s hair is executed properly and the necessary sadhana to support it is present, it can work to your benefit. this is why a spiritual seeker (sadhaka) who is solely seeking spiritual wellbeing uses shaving their head as a catalyst for growth. the act of shaving one’s head isn’t a reality for most of us, but it’s important to discuss when talking about the meaning of our hair, as we can compare what the absence of hair entails to our current state of having long hair. having short or no hair is yang/masculine and draws energy upward to the mind. long hair is yin/feminine in nature and draws energy downward and inward. thus, long hair is naturally more in tune and adept with it’s surroundings and bestows greater intuition.

in indian mythology, hair has long been used to convey metaphors. recall from earlier, the hair of a person always conveys a message regarding their persona and every hairstyle or accessory that is adorned has a meaning too. unbound and unruly hair represent a wild nature, whereas hair that is well-oiled, combed, & maintained are seen as a mark of civilization/domestication. for example, shiva had thick matted dreadlocks, much like kali’s unbound hair, which is symbolic of their wild nature, fury and potent mental power. in the mahabharata, draupadi’s choice to keep her thick, beautiful hair unwashed and unbound until she washes her hair with the blood of dushasan, represents her fury and yearning for vengeance. whereas, the goddesses, lakshmi, saraswati and durga, have loose, unbound hair, a symbol of their powerful and controlled nature.

in this section, i will be mentioning the spiritual significance of women having long hair. many texts use gender to decipher the implications of our hair and this is how it was taught/worded to me, i don’t think that all women should subscribe to having long hair nor do i think this has to apply to solely women really, simply anyone who wishes to embody the feminine of aspect of divine duality.

a woman is said to symbolize shakti: divine energy. therefore, they are the natural bestower of shakti, blooming in the possibility of making use of the tejtattva predominant energy generated in one’s body. by the movement of long hair, and with the assistance of raja component, one can emit shakti waves into the environment. these waves of shakti drive out the raja-tama components from the atmosphere. this is why twirling, flipping, or playing with one’s hair is sensual in nature. by doing this, you are rejuvenating your surroundings with the energetic movement of your hair. according to hindu dharma, as a symbol of this shaktitattva (the divine energy principle), which is complementary to the activity of the raja component in the body, a person wishing to embody the feminine aspect of the divine should keep long hair. the ever-flowing waves of kriya-shakti (the power to act) keeps the vibrations in the form of shakti tattva in the body always in an awakened state. due to this awakened state taking place in the form of shakti tattva, a person with long hair is said to look more humble and polite than a person with short hair (hence, short hair being synonymous with strength and power). however, even negative energies get distressed due to tej-bestowing waves. if these negative energies attack a person out of irritation, the possibility of them suffering from distress is more likely since they lack the ability to repel these energetic attacks. by having long hair and, thus, being protected from distressing vibrations in the atmosphere and the emissions of raja, the fruitfulness of one’s life increases. creating a positive effect on one’s surrounding atmosphere.

i understand the concept of rajas, tamas, and sattva can be a bit difficult to understand so i’ll try to sum this concept up in more clear terms:

the movement of long hair generates vibrations in the form of tejtattva (the absolute principle of fire). these vibrations can congregate into the voids/follicles of long hair for prolonged periods of time. these vibrations cause the disintegration of negative waves entering through the hair and destroy them. as a result, the body can remain free from the attacks of negative energies.

the energetic currents that flow from one’s long hair downwards, towards the direction of the earth, prevent the distressing vibrations emitting from patal from entering the body or creating obstacles in one’s life. by drawing the energies of earth through the hair, one can receive heightened intuition.

according to yogic principle, when someone reaches a state where their energies are bursting/brimming within the mind, if they activate the two chakras which are above the physical body, then they should grow their hair out. preferably by growing out the hair and tying it up just above the head so that it is protected and nurtured. this is why witches or deeply spiritual people keep their hair covered or in braids for protective purposes.

which bring me to my next point: the importance of hair care (specifically the days in which we cut and wash our hair):

it is considered to be inauspicious to get one’s hair cut on tuesdays (ruled by mars), thursdays (ruled by jupiter), and saturdays (ruled by saturn). it is said that the planets send out individual rays that may impact our wellbeing on certain days. as humans, we possess great levels intelligence, therefore, our brain is the core of our existence. the middle part of the head is most delicate/sensitive to other energies. our hair protects our head and us from external, harsh energies. in the mahabharata, it has been said that all days are not meant to be auspicious for cutting our nails and hair. for example, cutting one’s hair on monday is said to be harmful or inauspicious for children’s health. according to the puranas, cutting one’s hair on tuesday lowers their age. tuesday is a day dedicated to the planet kuja. kuja is inhabited by blood in the body and the root of our hair follicles is blood. this is why indian barbers do not usually touch the roots of the hair, as it can harm one’s blood stream and cause issues. if you get a hair cut on tuesday, you may run the risk of blood related diseases. whereas, on wednesday, cutting one’s nails and hair is said to bestow a rise in wealth and happiness in familial matters. thursday corresponds to the god of wealth: brihaspati and the goddess lakshmi. brihaspati is god’s progenitor of children, wealth, and knowledge. cutting your hair on thursday is said to bring loss/lack in economic, family, and educational matters. friday is ruled by shukra, the symbol of beauty. shukra dev is pleased with the cleansing and upkeep of the body on this day, as it is said a person with a clean neat body receives honorable glory. saturday is the day of shani. shani is related to delays, increase in longevity, and death. because the celestial bodies are related to the skin of humans, cutting or trimming one’s hair on a saturday is theorized to reduce one’s life by seven months. people often feel called to cut their hair and nails on sundays, due to it being the end of the week and the start of anew. however, this is considered to be inauspicious because sunday is dedicated to lord narayana. this can result in loss in property, knowledge and religion. across many cultures, it is a common belief that people should not get their hair cut on new moons and other inauspicious days, as specific components in human beings can make these energy waves more predominant in the atmosphere. as previously mentioned, these energetic waves generated on inauspicious days can get transferred into the hair through the hair follicles and reach the hair roots (the mind). this is why more older traditions state that people should not cut hair on the date and tithi: lunar day of one’s birth. because when we worship deities/grahas, we experience low endurance to imbibe the energies that are a byproduct from these stars, planets, and constellations that reduce the benefits we avail form our worship (puja). this runs the potential of not only harming the body, but also harming us on a spiritual level.

similar to the aforementioned results of trimming one’s hair/nails stated above, washing our hair is also considered to be inauspicious on tuesdays. however, this is considered to be more applicable to those who are negatively affected by kuja. to remedy the malefic effects of a heavy kuja, natives should not wash their hair on tuesdays. wednesdays are overall considered to be good for hair washing but it is advised against a mother of one boy, as it said to affect the health of her child. moreover, a newly married woman is advised to wash hair on wednesday to get a baby boy. whereas, washing your hair on thursdays is said to take away from the financial and homely blessings of brihaspati and goddess lakshmi. therefore, out of respect and devotion to brihaspati deva people do not wash clothes/hair, or cut nails on thursdays. because thursdays are also auspicious for the worship of vishnu, anyone who indulges in kshorya karma (cutting nails, washing hair, etc.) knowingly, displeases lord vishnu and the angry goddess lakshmi (the wife of lord vishnu) is said to leave the house of the person doing so. now, understanding the effects of saturday is a bit difficult, as some believe that washing your hair on saturday is beneficial because it helps relieve a person from the effects of sade sati. however, the general consensus is that washing one’s hair on saturday can upset shani dev. overall, mondays, wednesdays, fridays and sundays are generally considered to be auspicious for washing hair.

to sum up all the topics discussed in this section:

wednesdays and fridays are best for cutting hair

mondays, tuesdays, thursdays, saturdays, and sundays are considered to be inauspicious for hair cutting, as well as new moons.

the significance of a day being inauspicious/auspicious for hair cutting is reliant on the position of the planet in your birth chart

mondays, wednesdays, fridays, sundays are best for washing hair

tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays should be avoided for washing hair

now that we have cultivated an understanding of length, washing, and trimming, we can start to use this knowledge to better understand the hair manifestations of each planet. please keep in mind this is very generalized info, this thread is already incredibly long and i do not wish to give away too much information (as i’ve been extensively working on providing astrological services that go more in-depth with the manifestations of the grahas, rashis, and nakshatras in fashion archetypes, nails, hair, and makeup for months now).

ketu hair color manifestations :

a few months ago, i talked about ketu’s natural manifestation of red/vampy black hair. those physically influenced by ketu tend to have extremely dark hair or, much like many of the fiery mars natives, red/auburn hair. this is because mars and ketu are said to be extremely similar in nature. both planets possess the same subtle, fiery energy. both are known to convert lighter solar, external energy to serve their own internal, darker energy. this darker energy may reflect in its natives through red hair. according to the brihat parashara hora shastra, ketu is described to have a blue/grey physique. while these natives have dark/red hair, similar to mars, their black hair typically has a distinct cool undertone that differs from mars natives (symbolic of the greying hair of the tantric goddess, dhumavati, correlated to ketu). the prevalence of the color black is fitting, as black is said absorb the negative energies/projections of others. by having black hair, one is naturally protected from the negative energies around them.

mars hair color manifestations ☄️:

mars is the fiery planet of sheer, raw energy which bestows the powers required to execute tasks/actions. mars represents our actions without reasoning, motivation; whereas, the fiery sun controls the reasoning/motivation for said actions of mars both warm planets prefer/deposit warm undertones to the hair, but mars’ hair is more red in complexion. even with their quintessential black hair, these natives typically have more warmth to it. pay attention to when these natives’ hair is illuminated by the sun, as you will often see reddish warmth in their hair (when under solar illumination). this red undertone/coloring to the hair indicates both the sensuality and purity that lies in the polarity of mars. while mars is considered to be one of the most malefic planets, many of these natives are quite pure inwardly, but physically manifest in a sensual manner. thus, embodying the contradictory misconceptions/illusions that bagalamukhi smashes with her cudgel. in the hindu religion, red is of the utmost significance and is most frequently used for auspicious occasions like marriages, birth of a child, and festivals. for example, red powder is usually thrown on statues of deities and phallic symbols during prayers. red is also the color of shakti (one’s prowess). a red colored dress is put on deities who are charitable, brave, protective, and who have the capacity to destroy evil (much like baglamukhi herself).

rahu hair color manifestations :

rahu is the planet of intuition and the master of manipulatory acts. these natives are considered to be an expert when scheming or plotting, this is why rahu is said to be a better politician than saturn. rahu is also the luck behind instant success or failure in life. being the natural embodiment of maha maya, these natives are naturally inclined to presenting themselves in a glamorous manner. one of the colors associated with rahu is ash. these natives seem to favor blonde, as it is naturally quite ashy/cool in undertone. bleaching your hair can actually be quite difficult, as it causes damage to the hair follicles and makes it more susceptible to physical damage. (i.e. uv rays) and surrounding energies. in turn, this can weaken the patal protecting hair follicles and awaken one’s intuition/connection with the dead or astral realm.

jupiter hair color manifestations :

jupiter is next to size, orb, and color of the sun and these natives are described as golden in complexion. jupitarian natives also tend to have blonde/yellow undertone hair, this is likely due to jupiter being ruled by the color yellow and remedied by wearing gold/donating yellow objects (i.e. bananas/saffron). overall, they are the best planetary type for those wishing to dye, bleach, or wear wigs of the color blonde. jupiter natives, who are linked to the mystical powers of death, are inclined to blonde to both remedy a weakened jupiter via their golden/yellow blonde undertone and strip the hair follicles for the purpose of subconsciously aligning themselves with the astral plane. jupiter is also linked to the blood, as a weakened jupiter can result in blood poisoning, this is why jupitarian blonde natives prefer dark roots to compliment their honey blonde hair (or simply incorporating blonde highlights) as to not interfere with their blood/roots. ketu is also said to be remedied by jupiter. in my survey of the dumb blonde trope, ketu, jupiter, and mars were the most reoccurring nakshatras. by ketu natives bleaching their hair, they have the opportunity to remedy the maleficence of ketu and further open themselves to the astral plane. ketu natives also enjoy coloring their hair purple for this very reason, as purple (the color of royalty) is also ruled by the royal jupiter.

moon hair color manifestations :

moon-influenced natives seem to prefer their natural hair color the most. this planet seems to be the least common for red hair, but most common for more natural colors: brown, black and blonde hair overall. because the moon naturally waxes and wanes and is typically unstable, these natives prefer to embrace stability via there appearance. i noticed lunar women seem to really distance themselves from beautifying enhancements as they age and prefer to embody the pearlescent state of chandra. however, these natives could benefit from black hair to ward off negative projections, as many lunar women struggle with other people trying to project their light/energy onto them.

saturn hair color manifestations :

saturn natives seem to favor incredibly dark hair, modeling that of kali. their black hair represents absence of light, hiding one’s emotions, feelings, and insecurities from the outside world and aiding these natives in their secrecy. thus, protecting others from people who wish to manipulate them. black is a secretive color that covers the truth behind the veil of darkness and absorbs all other colors (energies) of the spectrum and represents power in its extreme form. their black hair conveys both authority and class. black is the color of discipline and self-control (saturn) that does not wish to reveal its true feelings to others. because saturn also favors blue/indigo, the undertone of their hair is fairly cool, similar to rahu, but vastly differs in undertone compared to mars.

venus hair color manifestations :

much like the vedic texts state, venusian natives naturally have brown hair or black hair and prefer to abstain from additional coloring due to it’s possibility to take away from their beauty (unlike rahu). their hair is naturally quite warm in undertone and can seem somewhat devoid of additional highlights and uniform in color. their hair is very much so identical to the para shara’s description of the features of a beautiful woman: honey colored or black colored.

mercury hair color manifestations :

because mercury is considered to take on the effects of the planet aspecting it, we see this interplay of mirroring and absorbing outward projections prominent with these natives. similar to the colorful attributes of jupiter natives’ hair, these natives are overall quite trendy with their hair coloring. from their auspicious greens to deep onyx, these natives enjoy hair coloring of all varieties. as they enjoy experimenting & trying out new trends/designs this favor for trends, juxtaposed with mercury being correlated to the goddess durga, is why we often see mercurial natives specifically enjoying ombre or streaky highlights, as it embodies the pattern of the tiger of durga (more on specific hairstyles later).

sun hair color manifestations :

sun natives seem to enjoy various types of hair coloring, from the more basic hair colors (blonde/black) to more intense colors like reds or even oranges. as this color is expressive of their inner warmth by radiating electrifying heat. they typically like to stay in the range of warm undertones and apply this to blonde, brown, or black hair. these natives also tend to enjoy highlights that mimic hair coloring via the sun, aka sun bleaching. overall, these natives are one of the most versatile people when it comes to their luxurious hair accessories and expressive faux hair colors (i.e. the hairstyles of grace jones, donna summer, naomi campbell, and sza).

hair texture:

this is not to say that just because you are influenced by the following planets, you will specifically favor this hair texture, this is just my observations juxtaposed with the information of vedic texts.

the physical composition of the hair can be determined by a person’s dominance in a dosha: vata (which is associated with saturn and rahu) kapha (which is associated with jupiter, moon, venus), pitta (which is associated with sun, mars, ketu). whereas, mercury can indicate all three doshas are in balance or out of balance. thus, mercury is a tridhatu planet. the pitta type is described to have reddish hair, prone to having/preferring straighter hair, and experience premature greying.

the sun bestows short/yang hair and hair loss (detailed later); mars bestows curly, shiny hair; and all pitta planets resulting in a red undertone of some sort. whereas, the vata types are said to have dry, frizzy, or curly hair. saturn is said to bestow course and thick hair (as some say it is the best planet for hair growth) and rahu bestowing dry hair. the kapha types are described to have voluminous, illuminated, thick hair favoring that of a dark complexion. this correlates to venus who is described to bestow dark, curly (or wavy) hair, jupiter who is said to bestow a golden complexion, and the moon who can bestow dark/black hair.

overall,

the pitta types seem to prefer short/yang hair, have oily hair, and enjoy embracing their fiery undertone and incorporating light highlights or blonde into their hair. to negate the negative effects of this type, work on your indulgence and aggression.

the ether/airy vata types favor dry hair and can be prone to thinness (but have a great deal of hair in general). to negate the negative effects of this type, address your issues with irregularity and fearfulness.

the kapha types, due to their apa nature, can have oily/well-nourished hair and enjoy a more methodical approach to hair. to negate the negative effects of this type, remedy you issues surrounding attachment and greediness.

i’ve decided to decode a few prominent hair styles today, in case any of you guys are looking to get/wear one of these hairstyles and wondering what its effects could have on you (all of these were requested by my lovely followers and mutuals on twitter) <3

the sleek, straight ponytail: the sleek ponytail involves tightly gathering the hair with a hair tie. it’s a simplistic design and creates quite the high end look. by tightly smoothing back your hair, you are increasing the blood production (aka production of mars energies). thus, affecting how you cultivate energy around you. if the hair is straightened, it can damage the follicles and harm mars (as mars is prevalent in the base/blood of the hair follicle), this increases receptivity to outer influences via hair damage but weakens one’s strength. however, if the hair is naturally straight, it will be less likely to absorb/harness the influences of external environment. this is a great hairstyle for cultivating sexual energy and remaining independent of devoid influences, but be weary of the effects straightening one’s natural hair can have on you.

the middle part: the middle part is a great way to add a distinct form of classiness to a hairstyle. by parting the hair in a middle fashion, you are harmonizing the plexus follicles from the hair into symmetry (which is inherently venusian). this parting is interesting as it incorporates venusian qualities and aligns it with stimulating the frontal part of the scalp. by parting the scalp, you are creating negative space that is unprotected from outer energies and potential issues with energetic discernment. however, i know this will sound odd, this part is typically unable to be successfully executed without the lack of dandruff, which is caused by a deficiency in fatty acids and B6. because jupiter rules fatty acids/non-polar molecules, the prevalence of dandruff can be due to a weak jupiter. thus, displaying a middle part can indicate a healthy jupiter or wealthy/abundant person.

puffy 90s hair: having large or fluffy hair (aka the 90s blowout) correlates with jupiter (the planet of expansion in both orb and size). this hairstyle flaunts one’s influx of hair while simultaneously leaving the hair loose. recall from earlier, keeping the hair loose can indicate potent mental power (as it causes less strain to the mercurial epidermis) and the yearning for vengeance (by leaving the martian energy untouched and flowing). it is a wonderful hairstyle for protecting the weakest part of the mind and spirit (by covering all of the scalp) and residing in the abundant energies of planetary alignment. the mid-length hair is neither feminine nor masculine and creates somewhat of a neutral/base line level of energy. it’s personally one of my favorite hairstyles for when i wish to remain energetically open, but still aligned internally.

hair length for men: i try to steer clear of gender-based information because i want to be all inclusive but with this subject it can be tricky, because a great deal of the open astrological/spiritual information we have on hair is gendered. so please be mindful of this, i am not trying to say that if you are male-identifying you solely have to follow this information. this is merely a guide. men are said to be shiv dominant, meaning they are said to be naturally patient. hence, it is said that the growing of hair is harmful to their nature, thus destabilizing them. when men, who are not spiritual in nature, choose to grow their hair, it destroys his shiv nature and causes him to be fickle and more weak/susceptible to negative influences. when men choose to have long hair, depending on his generation of oscillating bhav, the vibrations of the conjured instability can affect his surroundings. therefore, it is advised for men to not grow out their hair, if they are struggling with their cultivating spiritual energy or would rather focus their efforts on the physical plane. this is why so many successful billionaires have little to no hair, they are able to focus their energy inward and not conjure instability in their monetary pursuits and environments.

perm: a perm is a hairstyle consisting of waves or curls set into the hair. the curls are said to last a number of months, hence the name. however, perms may be applied using thermal or chemical means. there is a number of things to unpack in this specific hair treatment. perms can be used to give the illusion of apa, due to the curly manifestations of the kapha element. this can make one appear more beautiful and luxurious. however, curly hair binds other people’s energy in their hair follicles. the most differing result of a perm, compared to those with natural curls, is people with perms are unable to wash their hair as much (therefore, unable to cleanse energies as well) and the energy of your hairstylist remains as long as the curls are present. the issue with long term hair modifications is most people are unaware of the magnetic pool our hair has. anyone who touches our hair is imparting their energy onto us, getting long-term hair modifications by negative people can truly affect us in a negative fashion. this is why a great deal of people in my community get their hair done by their mother, dear family member, or a stylist/barber that is generational. there is history and energetic buildup in the hair that needs to be addressed and handled with care. so out of all the hairstyles listed here, the perm is the one i would recommend the least.

“space buns”: “space buns” are heavily inspired by hopituh shi-nu-mu women’s “squash blossom” bun, which blossom on either side of the head, and were worn only by unmarried women. at the onset of puberty, historically young girls went through challenging initiation ceremonies, marked by a day of grinding corn at the paternal grandmother’s house. she would receive a new name and assume the squash blossom hairstyle, the sign of marriageability and fertility. the symbolic side arrangements aren’t actually buns, they’re more loops of hair. to make this hairdo, a young woman’s mother winds her hair around a curved piece of wood to give it a round shape, then remove the wood frame. this correlates to the imparting of maternal energies of the person’s hair, the usage of wood (ruled by the sun) represents aligning oneself with solar/spiritual path, and the coiling pattern protects most of the hair from negative external energies. this hairstyle was originally worn to indicate fertility and abundance. while the beautiful middle part correlates to the section on middle parts above, i highly recommend you research this deep, meaningful ceremony.

sideswept bangs: mercury is said to rule the forehead, this is why the para shara states large foreheads are auspicious for women (correlating to those under mercurial influence usually having larger foreheads). concealing one’s forehead is said to protect oneself (via protecting their third eye). you might have heard of forehead readings based on one’s forehead lines… having high bangs indicates generational wealth, as it protects the upper half of the forehead. whereas, having lower bangs indicates both generational wealth and a good job, career, and social status. this is due to lower bangs protecting the lower area of the forehead from damage and cultivating hydrating oils on the scalp. however, cutting one’s hair into bangs can bring an increase in the energy to the eyes, which are solar and lunar in nature. you likely have noticed solar, and sometimes lunar, natives’ affinity for bangs. while solar natives enjoy more symmetrical bangs, mimicking the uneven waxing and waning of chandra, lunar natives seem to enjoy sideswept bangs the most. specifically, lunar natives favoring the right (solar) side of their face for bangs. the prevalence of the hair on one side of the face allows one to simultaneously protect the energies of that side of the face, while drawing emphasis to the lunar, unconcealed side of the face.

hair partings: in the practice of metoposcopy, differing from astrology, hair lines symbolize different characteristics and life paths. please note: any planets i mention correlate to the hair lines below are based on my own observations and familial information that was passed down to me. a straight hair line (correlating to mercury) represents the logical mind. the person is described as practical in their approach and feels that any problem can be solved by brain power. people with a shorter straight hair line (correlating to mars) will be prone to anger and irritable nature. they will have rigid views and quite fixed in their ideology. they are described to have an unhappy childhood and deep longings for love and sex. controlling sexual energy is difficult for these natives. a rounded hair-line (correlating to moon) represents a wavering mind, superstition, irresponsible and selfish person. they will be fond of good food and comforts and exploit others. a peaked hair-line (correlating to rahu/saturn) indicates a troubled adolescence and insecurities resulting from said childhood. the native will have high intelligence but be quite narrow minded in nature. their revolutionary ideas will make them join some anti-social groups. the m-shaped hair-line (correlating to venus) symbolizes an artistic person who is sensitive and who needs praise from others. these people are prone to feeling superior to others. they preach loving others but in reality they love themselves. finally, uneven or zigzag hair-line (correlating to ketu) belongs to a rebellious and rigid person. they are inclined to feeling unhappiness, stemming from the pressures of society during their youth. if their forehead is wide and high, then they will achieve success in any chosen field. in my research, jupiter natives do not typically have a specifically defined hair line, but jupiter does aid in the growth of the scalp and is responsible for the assimilation of protein products in the epidermis (mercury). this is why over-proteinized hair can have an overactive or afflicted jupiter.

hair (kesh) has long been used to convey certain aspects and feelings. to quote sreenivasarao, “providing elaborate, graceful and attractive hairstyles (kesha vinyasa or kesha-alankara), which besides enhancing the beauty of the sculpture would also bring out the status, the nature and the attribute of the subject, received a great deal of attention. this was one area, along with ornamentation (alamkara), where the shilpis could give wings to their imagination and enterprise; and exhibit originality. some shipa texts carry a chapter titled mauli lakshanam, but there is no comprehensive list of hair styles. some names are not supported by illustrations; and therefore we do not know what those style-names imply. and in some cases the names of the headgears (kirita or mukuta) have got mixed up with the names of hair styles.”. this is why the usage of certain ancient hairstyles is hard to completely define, but here are some examples kesha vinyasas (i wish i could include photos but i have exceeded my picture limit):

the jata-bandha: strands of hair in a rope-like texture are wound into spheric-shape or spindle-like state and placed atop the head. this jata-bandha was primarily worn by rishis, devas, and narada.

the kesha-bandha: the strands of hair are neatly combed and arranged into various conical forms of a series of diminishing tiers and placed in an upward position by tying up the arrangement securely. there are countless varieties of decorative and stylish hair arrangements under this category. in most cases, the conical hair-do is arranged to look like a mounted crown and decorated with ornaments. the kesha-bandha was primarily worn by devis and queens.

the dhummila: the dhummila is a collection of hair tied up the bunch into knots of various shapes. the bunched knot is usually placed behind the head and is as broad as the person’s face; and wound into three or four rounds. the dhummila was especially worn by devis and queens.

the alakacuda (my personal favorite): the alakacuda is specifically suited for curly hair types and was also used in ancient depictions of children, women, and even men. the hair is neatly parted in the middle and made into two bunches one on the right and the other on the left. then the bunch on the left is brought over to the right; and similarly the bunch on the left is brought to the left. together they are tied into spheric shapes; and held behind or to the side of the head. tiny wisps of hair are arranged around the face, like bees around a flower. this was a hairstyle more suited for general/everyday use.

hairstyles were influenced by a person’s region and status. for example, a wife of a sage wore hair braided in single lock. the celestial nymphs were decorated with a crest jewels and a coronet on their plaited heads. the naga women were distinguished by the insignia of hood on their head. the vidyadhara girls sported lunar discs on the plate of their hair. the yakshis were marked by their long crest (shikha). even some people from bhubaneswar wanted to add further volume and creativity to their naturally beautiful hair and used artificial stuffing/padding to increase their hair volume, to create as many varying hair-arrangements possible. ornamentation of the hair was also common via pearl strings. these strings were liberally used for their adorning qualities and to help the hair arrangements to to stay in place.

from ancient times to now, hair has long been considered to be extremely important in various cultures. i share these stories because it illustrates just the sheer amount of creativity, art, and intuition hair has. hair is like our spiritual antenna, the more we cultivate, the greater our intuition, beauty and emotions will become.

for those who are interested in the astrological indicators of hair loss and gain, there are—many—factors to consider:

abundant hair growth is determined by the epidermis (mercury), the hair follicles (venus), and the proteins that sustains the hair growth (jupiter). the signs ruled by benefic planets are said to aid in hair growth and the signs of malefic planets cause detriment to the growth of hair. however, there are two benefic signs that are susceptible to hair-loss: taurus and sagittarius.

according to the brihad jataka, if a native is born under a malevolent sign or in the sign of sagittarius or taurus and is aspected by malefic planets, the person will be bald headed or suffer from extreme hair loss. if the lagna resides in taurus/sagittarius or the signs under the rulership of malefic planets (such as mars, sun and saturn), it must be devoid of all malefic afflictions for hair growth longevity.

fiery/pitta nature is one of the main causes for hair loss. for example, aries signifies the head is associated with the mars. sun is the natural significator for the first house and hair loss. therefore, aries, scorpio, and leo cause hair loss.

the other two signs of malefic lordship are capricorn and aquarius. saturn is associated with early aging and premature graying and thinning of hair. however, saturn is said to bestow the most hair of any planet (please keep in mind the amount of hair one has is not synonymous with the thickness of the hair. you have to evaluate the porosity as well). this is because saturn rules the fetus at the sixth month of growth. hair actually starts to appear on a fetus’ head at the five and ½ to the 6th month mark. whereas, at the 5th month mark, the fetus develops the dermis which is governed by the planet moon (recall only the epidermis is ruled by mercury).

this is why some vedic astrologers state the moon and lagna, particularly in the navamsa, can provide clues as to one’s hair pigmentation and appearance and, in turn, one’s hair growth.

due to their abundance in the epidermis (the sprouting of the hair follicle), gemini and virgo natives typically favor an abundance of hair. their rashi lord, mercury, is also associated with prithvitattwa (the tangible earth element). for example, when a child is surrounded by prithvitattwa during birth, this ensures healthy and prosperous hair and nail growth. this is why washing one’s hair on wednesday is considered auspicious.

the baadhak lord for both gemini and virgo is the natural benefic jupiter. jupiter rules nonpolar molecules and fatty acids (like hydrating oil) which aids in the growth of our hair.

for cancer natives, the moon is benevolent for their hair growth. because the beauty conscious venus is the baadhak lord for cancer, these natives have gorgeous hair.

the the baadhak of taurus natives is saturn, thus making one more vulnerable to greying and premature thinning of the hair (only to grow thicker hair with time).

libra natives’ baadhak is the sun. who is typically responsible for baldness, however, the venusian rulership of this sign is said to aid in their hair follicle growth.

sagittarius and pisces natives have mercury as their baadhak. however, traditionally, pisces is associated with good hair appearance compared to sagittarius.

the role of the lagna:

the lagna is the primary placement for determining one’s appearance, including the nature of our hair growth. because both of the luminaries add luster to the appearance, they are connected with hair growth. the following aspects can affect one’s hair growth negatively:

sun in the 1H of d1/d9

sun in the 7H of d1/d9

moon in taurus/aries/leo in the d1/d9

afflicted sun/moon in the 1H of drekkana and trimsamsa

aries/scorpio d9 lagna

to sum up this incredibly long post, i would like to talk about the deep importance of protective hair styles (bonnets, durags, braids, etc.):

braids have long cultivated prevalence in many cultures, but the origins of braids is said to be in africa. africa, who is considered to be the cradle of civilization, is home to the most famous and intricate braids or plaits. however, the oldest record of braids is a carved statuette of unknown origin called the venus of willendorf, austria, estimated to have been made 30,000 years ago as a fertility fetish, which features woven hair capping a voluptuous body. this correlates to venusian natives having the most wavy/curly hair (a symbol of luxury and prosperity). coily/curly hair binds other people’s energy in their hair follicles (ruled by venus) the most out of the hair types. braids/durags/bonnets/wigs (or really any form of tying/covering the hair) help close off other people’s energies, but because curly hair can absorb energy the most, it is therefore the most spiritual. in ancient egypt, braids were a sign of wealth and the leisure it affords; the more elaborate, the better. the adornment of jewels, berries, pearls, and pins (which are comparable to the elaborate clips, pins, and hair accessories of today) were symbolic of both luxury and wisdom. combing the hair represents the alignment of thought; braiding is the oneness of thought, and tying is the securing of said thought. flowing strands of hair are considered individually weak, but when harmonized in braids they demonstrate strength in unity. some cultures specifically believe letting our hair flow free demonstrates harmony with the flow of life, and braiding indicates thoughts of oneness. hair is endowed with spiritual significance and immense power, as it lies at the crown (the most elevated part) of the body, hair was believed to be the conduit for gods and spirits to reach the soul. this is why hairdressers were once considered to be trustworthy members of society, senior women, family or close friends with whom tribal bonds could be cemented, and grooming rituals often lasted several hours, even several days.

teisting, braiding, beading, and grooming also forged meaningful bonds between elders and children, and traditional techniques were thus passed along generations. braiding customs were both ritual and social service, but requiring no reward or pay; it was in fact unlucky to offer thanks.

details vary from tribe to tribe: mangbetu women plait hair and arrange hair it in cone-shaped basket frames decorated with bone needles. miango women decorate braids with scarves and leaves. massai men stiffen them with animal dung, and himba women mix red ochre, butter, ash and herbs to coat them; a girl is entitled to only two braids, and acquires more once she marries. himba men wear one braid, and tie it into a turban after marriage. mbalantu women put finely grounded tree bark and oil into their hair starting at the age of twelve to help it grow long and thick, and braid it into elaborate headdresses throughout their lives.

in my cameroonian culture, hair is said to be cut on a full moon for hair growth and length; pregnant women should not braid others’ hair (due to the energetic transfer potentially harming the fetus); and hair should not be combed or braided in the open (this invites negative energies to bind itself with the hair follicles). combing/brushing our hair should be cleansing, not for the accumulation of external energies.

across the world, many traditions teach that the top of the head is a portal for physical, mental and spiritual energies. if our hair is shaved, braided, or knotted, it can store energy within the body to maintain strength and health, as hair is our “god antennae”.

while durags were primarily used for protecting waves and cornrows, they became a fashion statement in the african american community in the 90s/early 2000s. by protecting the most sensitive part of the head, the middle of the scalp, one is internally protected from external factors and able to reside in their own energies. the same is applicable for bonnets. i have personally always worn a bonnet to bed (due to me having curly hair) and this has protected my energy greatly. this is yet another reason why head coverings are suggested for certain yogic practices, when the head is covered, one can receive clarity in spiritual intent and supernatural power.

this post took a great deal of time, energy, and resources to make. i consulted over 400 charts and made sure to cross reference my findings with not just celebrities, but the people in my life. this post may not apply to everyone and most astrologers have different beliefs on what categorizes certain aspects of the hair (especially with the sun and saturn). please use your own discernment when reviewing the information in this post. please let me know if this resonated or if it didn’t! wishing you all so much abundance and positivity on your hair journey

xoxo, angel

the beauty of jyeshta :

alexa demie: jyeshta surya

*TW// i do discuss a few triggering topics i.e. abuse and drugs. some of the jyeshta natives i exhibit and talk about are known for terrible behavior and scandals. i do not condone their offensive and ignorant behavior. they are simply being shown to solidify my opinions on the nature of this nakshatra*

as you read this post, please listen to this jyeshta playlist i made for the full experience:https://open.spotify.com/user/a95141rv0vjdg8lqcggilvcxm/playlist/3gzS9sXWs71yb2i9EiBhSY?si=xtP4mnRnR7ahXfN09KwiRw

they key to unearthing the energies of jyeshta lie in studying it’s associative deities. before we dive down the rabbit hole of the jyeshta nakshatra, let us understand the representative mahavidya of buddha. it is traditionally believed that the tantric goddess tripura sundari is associated with buddha. tripura sundari is also known as the goddess shodashi. the goddess shodashi is said to be the most beautiful in all three worlds. the goddess shodashi is also known as lalita and rajarajeshwari. lalita means “the one who plays” and rajarajeshwari means “queen of queens”. the tantric goddess tripura sundari is a form of mahalakshmi and, therefore, symbolizes wealth and abundance. according to tripura sundari’s dhyana mantra, her complexion radiates with the light of the rising sun. she emanates a rosy color which is representative of her joy, compassion, and illumination.

tripura sundari is depicted with four arms and holds five arrows of flowers (remember this number for later), a noose, a goad and sugarcane for the use of a bow. her holding a noose represents attachment, the goad represents repulsion, the sugarcane bow represents the mind, and the arrows are the five sense objects. in the sakta tantra, she is depicted as the supreme mother who uses the gods as her instruments of passion. with the aid of the instruments of passion, she presides over the creation, sustainability, and destruction of the universe—the three phases of life. she overlooks the layers of our shadow states, self-concealment and self-revelation, that lie in-between these three phases of life (bhoo, bhuva, and swa). self-concealment is the predisposition to actively conceal from others personal information that one perceives as distressing or negative. self-revelation revelation of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and attitudes especially without deliberate intent.

tripura sundari represents the state of awareness that is called “sadasivatattva”. this state of sadasivatattva is said to be based on the belief that “i am this” (aham idam). that, as we evolve through our cosmic destinies, we have an outward flow of consciousness, or pravritti. spiritual practice reverses our state of physical consciousness and cause us to revert to our true being. the action of coming back to our origin and finding attainment within, is a theme of jyeshta’s scorpio rashi itself, the sign of realization. it is the divine understanding that our experiences in this universe lie within the unity of consciousness itself.

many believe that tripura sundari is the beauty that precedes the three worlds. that she is divinity in its infinite meanings, embodying the different aspects of the phenomenal world. tripura sundari is the beauty that we see in the world around us. she is the beauty we find in everywhere we look. modeling the captivating beauty of tripura sundari, jyeshtas naturally are externally perceived as beautiful beings who, solely with their appearances, draw the collective desires of hearts deep within. this is the essence of jyeshta’s features. they enshroud you with an abundance of beauty and over-stimulate your senses to near exhaustion. because jyeshta is symbolized by the jewel or earrings, they adorn their features with jewels and sparkling products to appear otherworldly. most notably, jyeshta natives seem to pay great attention to the forehead, neck, skin, and tongue (as buddha is said to rule these facial features). jyeshtas love to particularly adorn themselves in gold chains (i.e. jyeshta native nicki minaj and her extensive gold chain collection). remember that scorpio is co-ruled by ketu, which is remedied by brihaspati (who is remedied by gold). so the adornment of gold will be very prevalent and calming to these natives.

fka twigs: jyeshta chandra

another interesting characteristic of jyeshta is tongue piercings. because buddha rules the tongue and scorpio rules the blood, we see these natives naturally have quite a great deal of emphasis in their tongue area. they are inclined to/consider piercing their tongues. some examples of this are, willow smith (jyeshta shukra atmakaraka) who infamously got a tongue piercing at eleven-years-old. christina aguilera (jyeshta buddha atmakaraka) had a tongue piercing during her most notably “promiscuous” time frame in her career (aka her “dirrty” years). in the movie “thirteen”, evan rachel wood (jyeshta shani 1H) plays a young girl who gets her tongue pierced as a sign of rebellion. one thing you will notice about these jyeshta natives is that they are always under scrutiny for the changes they make to their body. however, the vimshottari buddha-ruled nakshatras embrace rebellion in the gandanta knot of deadly restriction. after all, mercury was named “the trickster” himself. this correlates back to the trickster archetype of poking out your tongue to make fun of another person. jyeshta natives most frequently pierce their tongues as a clap back to societal standards or parental authority. in this sense, they are quite literally sticking out their tongue for the purpose of mockery. these natives also prefer sticking out their tongues in photography. examine the common photos of jyeshta natives like princess nokia, nicki minaj, and rosalía (jyeshta lagna). you will notice they prefer to playfully stick out their tongue when around others. in the bible, it states “death and life are in the power of the tongue” (proverbs 18:21). meaning the tongue can either be used as a weapon to harm and destroy others or as a tool to build and heal. this is the common unraveling of jyeshta…

♏️ jyeshta lies in the final portion of scorpio. scorpio’s ruling planet is kuja, the mahavidya associated with kuja is bagalamukhi. bagalamukhi is commonly referred to as “the goddess who seizes the tongue”. once, a demon named madan undertook austerities and won the boon of vak siddhi. anything the demon said came to be true. the demon abused this power and killed many people. the gods were enraged by the demon’s wrongdoings, so they began to worship bagalamukhi to invoke her help. baglamukhi stopped the demon by taking hold of his tongue, which was the source of all mischief, and silenced his words. however, she did not kill the demon, because he asked to be worshipped with her and she agreed. this is why the demon is depicted with her. she is repeatedly portrayed with holding the demon’s tongue with a club in her other hand. by stopping the demon’s tamasic tongue, she exercised her power over speech and her power to freeze, stun, or paralyze others.

bagalamukhi is also associated with magical powers, which can sometimes be referred to as siddhis, “accomplishments” or “perfections.” among her epithets in her hymn of a thousand names are she who gives the eight siddhis. the invocation written around the edge of an amulet containing her yantra in the tantrasara states: “o bagalamukhi, please arrest the speech of wicked people, paralyze their faces, fix their tongues and destroy their intellect.”

⚫️while jyeshtas are fond of displaying and emphasizing their tongues from a physical standpoint, this emphasis does not stop here. as you may have noticed, most of the jyeshtas featured in this thread have gotten into some serious scandals and allegations. for example, jyeshta natives like nicki minaj who married a s*xual abuser/predator, tyra banks (jyeshta surya) and her many blackface scandals, sabrina claudio who has said many offensive racial slurs, brigitte bardot who was known to be heavily racist and abusive to her child, naomi campbell who has been linked to epstein, etc.. their interviews and words are often misconstrued and taken to the extreme, as the public takes every word of their’s as the truth, much like madan (who had the power to speak things into existence). because every word these natives say is treated as the truth, they become either hindered or freed by this power. jyeshta’s have the ability to thrive in the dark abyss of scorpio and yield their words to sway the minds of others.

we see the public grasping jyeshtas by the tongue, much like the tantric goddess baglamukhi, and holding on to every word they say. valuing the belief that the powers of life and death lie within the words we speak. once the dark abyss consumes a jyeshta native and they no longer rely on the glamour of the tongue, we truly see how flawed and sorrowful their lives can be (despite their abundant beauty).

sabrina claudio: jyeshta chandra

jyeshta means “the eldest" or “the elder”. she is the goddess of inauspicious happenings and misfortune. as her sanskrit name suggests, she is regarded as the elder sister of lakshmi (the goddess of good fortune and beauty). unfortunately, jyeshta is frequently associated with sinning, laziness, poverty, sorrow, ugliness and the crow. because of her inauspiciousness and crow symbolism, she is sometimes associated with alakshmi. due to jyeshta representing the bad wife and lakshmi representing the good wife, jyeshta is often worshiped for women who wish to keep her away from their homes, as she is said to cause marital disturbances.

most astrologers agree that jyestha’s birth took place during the churning of the cosmic ocean. she was said to be born when the poison, halala, flows from the ocean, while her sister, lakshmi, is born when the elixer of life emerges. symbolic of jyeshta being in the debilitation rashi of chandra, modeling the shadow state of the new moon. whereas, lakshmi is symbolic of the plump, elxir-like full moon that lies in the exaltation rashi of chandra: taurus.

based on the linga purana, vishnu divided the world into the good and the bad. he created lakshmi and jyestha, both born from the same origin of the cosmic ocean churning. lakshmi marries vishnu, but jyestha is married to the sage dussaha. dussaha soon discovers that his jyeshta (described as his “ugly wife”) cannot bear her senses being exposed to any auspicious things. he then complained to vishnu or the sage markendeya (depending on the version). vishnu (or markendeya) recommended he take jyestha only to inauspicious places. jyestha is told to stay away from religious people. it is at this point, jyeshta became described as the “one who is inauspicious”. dussaha became tired of her anti-social nature and abandoned jyestha in a place where heretical rituals are performed. jyeshta then sought out vishnu for relief. vishnu decreed that jyestha would be sustained by offerings of women who wish to keep jyeshta’s presence from homes.

⚔️ like the goddess jyeshta, jyeshta natives spend life lost and surrounded by inauspicious people and environments. they stick out like the symbolic jewel they are, moving around from one place to another. while we see jyeshta natives being intrinsic and extremely self-focused and determined, much like the antisocial jyeshta goddess, they feel at home in their wanderlust lifestyle. as their nakshatra yoni is the hare, an animal who is always on the run and quick-footed. the hare is always prepared to run from dangerous environments, which they frequently find themselves entangled in. they can quickly become surrounded by harmful environments like drugs, unhealthy relationships, and demonic presences. for example, jim morrison (jyeshta surya) was infamous for his hard partying lifestyle, filled with fast money, sexual pursuits, and hard drugs, as the bunny always craves more stimulation. but jyeshtas know how to use their gifts, their charming words and beauty, to their total advantage. buddha is considered to be the quick, discriminating intellect. this is why buddha’s overruler is vishnu (“the maintainer”). vishnu maintained a source for jyeshta to channel and tried to solve her marital issues. buddha needs the sandpaper-like energy of vishnu to buff out and refine the rigid nature of buddha. with buddha’s intellectual mastery and scorpio being symbolic of the motivation and ability to work on ourselves and to help transform others, we see these natives eventually learning from the unfortunate circumstances of jyeshta and growing to surpass even the three worlds (like tripura sundari).

sevdaliza: jyeshta chandra

⛓because jyeshta is described as the “bad wife” and scorpio is associated with the dusthana house of obstacles (eighth house), we frequently see jyeshta natives personify their issues with love and self-perception in their songs. in the chorus of “girl like me” by alexa demie (jyeshta surya), she sings: i think i need a present, man. i’m just out here doin’ the best i can. you think a girl like me gon’ be single for long. your wrong. you think a girl like me gon’ be trippin’ for long. dead wrong. you think a girl like me, goddess like me, gon’ be trippin’, you’ll see with a girl like me.”. demie’s song describes a woman who was once mistreated in her past relationships and learned to embody the natural goddess she is and not settle for the inadequacies of her past lovers. she learned from her sorrowful and toxic past relationships (like the goddess jyeshta) and recognized her worth (the evolved state of the eighth house). this is similar to the character alexa played in “euphoria”. she played a teen in a broken and abusive relationship who continuously kept perpetuating the cycle of inauspiciousness and eventually learned to step back and realize the amount of harm she has experienced. in the song, “ego death” (starring skrillex, possibly jyeshta chandra) we hear fka twigs (jyeshta chandra) sing: i let my ego down and then I rise back up. i let my ego down and then I’ll be stronger. i’m armed, to let a sucker step up and get bombed. by a beat created by my producer, i am losin’ my mind ‘cause your heart’s so blind. when you left me outside, i’d be losin’ my mind. i am losin’ my mind 'cause your heart’s so blind. when you left me outside, i’d be losin’ my mind. it’s gonna cost you to be great. you will have to sacrifice something to be great.”. again, we see the jyeshta native falling into the cycle of mistreatment and harm and learning her worth. she eventually grasps the concept of sacrifice and realization. she thrusts herself into the purifying abyss of scorpio and hopes to never turn back. recently, fka twigs came forward and discussed the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex partner. in a recent interview with “elle”, fka twigs strongly told her story to the reporter and spoke with passion and truth. in the song “human” by sevdaliza (jyeshta chandra), she sings “been in and out. and in front of my judgmental eyes, my precious disguise. business so cold. can’t cope with my own. how to not fail.”. in the entire song, sevdaliza realizes the cold disguise she once possessed, only to peel back the layers to find a mere human. a flawed being predestined for a life of more flaws. she finds artful peace in knowing this. in the music video for “human”, she is depicted as a temptress who lures men. she embodies the conscious choice of mastering buddha’s trickery. instead of breaking away from the cycle, sevdaliza finds enjoyment in inauspiciousness. this correlates to the dull state of the new moon.

☂ the umbrella is said to represent jyeshta. it is reflective of jyeshta’s state of reflecting what other’s project onto them. the full moon is associated with receptivity and harnessing light/energy. scorpio is the debilitation of chandra, as is cancer is the debilitation of kuja, because the energies of kuja and chandra oppose each other. kuja is rigid, hard, powerful, and tamasic. chandra is fluid, malleable, inward, and auspicious. with scorpio’s kuja rulership, we see jyeshtas acting cold and distant when they become used to harmful environments and develop the coping mechanism of allowing other’s energies to bounce off of them, much like how an umbrella protects you from the rain. rain is also symbolic of nourishment and bountiful energy, as it nourishes all the beings on this planet. this is why water is linked to feminine energy. in scorpio, a water sign, we see kuja blocking the receptivity associated with water and jyeshta bestowing this receptivity when it’s time. only when the jyeshta native distances themselves from a life of strife and never-ending cycles of abuse, may they learn to close their figurative umbrella and swim in the rain of multiple emotions and influences. an example of the symbolism of the umbrella is elle driver (played by jyeshta native daryl hannah) in “kill bill”. as she walks down the hospital hallway to kill the bride, she is adorned in a nurse costume and has an unopened red umbrella in her hand. the unopened umbrella represents her allowing the floodgates of outer influences to open. she no longer cares about her perception and is shown in her rawest form. she is no longer the illusionary and illusive character who hides in scorpio’s mystery. she is now revealed to be an evil cut throat being. the umbrella’s red color is symbolic of kuja and denotes her revealing her true tamasic nature and her carrying the collective blood of her enemies.

nicki minaj: jyeshta surya

the deity who rules the jyeshta nakshatra is indra. he is the deity of lightning, thunder, and rain. he is considered to be the king of all gods and heaven. indra rules the sky and and wields the power of rain as his weapon. he is also considered to be the god of battle. prior to each of his battles, he drank a vast amounts of soma. soma is a divine juice that strengthens him to accomplish his deeds in combat. it is he who defeated the serpent vritra who had swallowed all the waters of the world spurring a tumultuous drought. indra split the belly of the serpent with his thunderbolt, releasing the waters and generating life. by killing the serpent, indra separated land from ocean, and caused the sun to rise (this act of land separation is comparable to the god zeus and the christian god). indra slicing the belly of the serpent, recalls how jyeshtas must retire their umbrella to generate life in their lives. however, there is another item they will find to be particularly important during their journey in this lifetime.

every jyeshta i have ever met holds at least some significance for a form of the talisman. this is because jyeshta is also symbolized by the talisman/evil eye. this all correlates to jyeshta being the cosmic jewel, the shiny emerald who captivates their truest beauty. it’s green color honors the symbolism of buddha and is reminiscent of the blue or green evil eye. the concept of the evil eye exists in many cultures from hinduism to islam to turkey.

the overall concept of the talisman is called “apotropaic” (which is greek for “turns away”). talismans are believed to turn away or turn back harm, like an umbrella, bouncing off the influencing waters. disks or balls, consisting of concentric blue and white circles are generally representative of the evil eye in common talismans in west asia. however, this emblem is most commonly found in turkish cultures. this blue or green eye can also be found on some forms of the hamsa hand (which is also known to ward the evil eye of others). The word hamsa, also spelled as khamsa and hamesh, means “five” which refers to the fingers of the hand.

in jewish culture, the hamsa is called the hand of miriam/mary and, in some muslim cultures, the “the hand of fatima” (fatima being the daughter of the prophet muhammad). it is primarily the muslims in the near east and mediterranean regions that believe envious looks can contain destructive power. the talismanic power of the nazar defends against this destructive energy. this is why the pure virgin mary or fatima is said to ward off these negative influences, recalling baglamukhi who was called to aid the other deities in the slaying of the demon.

the evil eye also heavily exists in hispanic and latinx cultures. it is referred to as the 'mal de ojo’ and it is very prevalent in spanish culture throughout history. in most of mexico and central america, infants are considered at special risk for the mal de ojo and are often given an amulet bracelet as protection. this amulet bracelet typically contains an eye-like dot painted on the amulet. to also ward against the mal de ojo, it is customary to allow admirers to touch the infant or child. one popular traditional cure in my old hometown and in parts of central or south america involves a curandero (otherwise known as a folk healer). the curandero sweeps a raw chicken egg over the body of a victim to absorb the power of the person with the evil eye. once this is finished, the egg is later broken into a glass with water and placed under the bed of the patient near the head. it is usually checked immediately to see if the broken egg appears cooked. if this happens, it means that the patient did have the mal de ojo. after this ritual is completed, any pains or sickness from the mal de ojo is ceased. the concept of the egg is also closely linked to the bunny (jyeshta’s yoni) in some european cultures. most notably, the easter bunny.

easter is a religious holiday, but a great deal of its american customs are linked to pagan traditions. the egg itself is an ancient symbol of new life/re-birth. it has been associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring. many christians view easter eggs as a representation of jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection. in orthodox christianity, it is traditional to have ‘the octave of easter’, essentially an eight day celebration of easter. during this celebration, the surya usually moves from revati (the final nakshatra) to ashwini (the first nakshatra). before i continue any further, i am not the first one to find this correlation, i believe the lovely @/shravishtamoo and @/365chimera were the first to talk about this on twitter. out of respect for not taking credit for their work, i will only lightly graze over this topic and solely share my opinion on this.

revati is under the vimshottari dasha rulership of buddha and the aries rashi of ashwini is ruled by kuja. kuja is overruled by bhumi, the cosmic mother or earth goddess. bhumi is usually depicted with four arms, holding a pomegranate, a water vessel, a bowl containing healing herbs, and another bowl containing vegetables. she is sometimes depicted with two hands, the right hand holding a blue lotus known as kumuda or utpala, the night lotus, while the left hand may be in the abhayamudra, this is a pose meant to mimic the tail of a horse. bhumi is symbolic of the cosmic flourishment. her pomegranate, healing herbs, and water vessel are symbolic of the fruitful tides and nature of the cosmic mother. much like how easter is linked to the pagan festival/celebration of the spring equinox (the day the surya enters into tropical aries). ashwini is the birth of the nakshatras, but bharani is considered to be the cosmic yoni. bhumi’s stance represents the horse ashwini and the cosmic egg. as bharani represents inward fertility, like the ripe pomegranate and cooling, feminine waters of the yoni. whereas, jyeshta, who is also ruled by kuja (rashi-wise), models this seemingly fertile abundance on the surface. like how the octave of easter combines the energy of buddha and kuja, we see this internal need to ascend their constant negativity, like how jesus died and arose from the death. jesus was betrayed and beaten brutally, similar to how many jyeshtas will find themselves continuously hurt by others. i understand this may sound redundant but look at the jyeshta goddess, baglamukhi, indra, tripura sundari, the octave of easter, and bhumi. they all required ascension, forgiveness or rebirth, which are necessary when such a tamasic planet like kuja and poltergeist-like spirit of buddha operate in their shadow state.

5️⃣ the number 5 is very important and reoccurring in the lives of jyeshta natives. the number five is said to be representative of buddha. as you have read through this post, you will notice the number five has reoccurred constantly. such as, tripura sundari’s five bows, the five-finger hamsa symbol, jyeshta natives like mick jagger and jay-z who are both life path 5s, and even some of the jyeshta names i have included in this thread total to the number five (such as, nicki/onika = 5 and tyra lynne banks = 14 = 1+4 = 5). because this number is symbolic of buddha, this number is said to denote intelligence, constant changes, and business success. however, the number five primarily shows a free-spirited and lucky nature. this is why the number sequence of five is said to be incredibly auspicious. i would like to focus on the fifth book of the bible: deuteronomy, a book filled with rebellion and imposing laws. a quote i think particularly describes jyeshta is deuteronomy 28-14: “If you fully obey the lord your god and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the lord your god will set you high above all the nations on earth. all these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the lord your god: you will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. the fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock – the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. you will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. the lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. they will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. the lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. the lord your god will bless you in the land he is giving you. the lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the lord your god and walk in his ways. then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the lord, and they will fear you. the lord will grant you abundant prosperity – in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground – in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you. the lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. the lord will make you the head, not the tail. if you pay attention to the commands of the lord your god that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. do not turn aside from any of the commands i give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.”. essentially, if you follow the teachings of your deity (operating in your light state), you will reap the bountiful crops of spiritual abundance and find freedom within (the theme of 5 in vedic teachings). the outer influences of others will no longer affect your inner being. jyeshta becomes the flowing waters of indra and bhumi, abundant in the freedom these natives onced crave. while jyeshtas appear to have an abundance of freedom, as they continuously bounce from one situation to another, it is insincere if they do not learn how to alter their surroundings, set boundaries, and learn to love again, reminiscent of the number four.

4️⃣ another number jyeshtas see quite frequently is the number four. the number four is said to be ruled by rahu, the head of the serpent god. recall in the aforementioned bible quote, “the lord will make you the head, not the tail”. this is the essence of the number four. it symbolizes the need for/ability of staying grounded, stability, worldly achievements, and secrecy. buddha was said to be one of the only deities to tame rahu. when a number of the nature of four occurs in a jyeshta’s life, it means the native must learn to tame their inner being and focus on staying grounded and not share their accomplishments with others. as discussed previously, buddha-ruled natives struggle with the immense power of their tongues. because they are able to have their words believed by the masses, if they say they will do something and it does not happen it brings a great deal of distrust around them. the art of secrecy is said to be something rahu thrives in, due to his natural illusionary background. embracing the illusion will help them ward the evil eye, with or without an amulet or talisman. if these natives do not share their plans or accomplishments, others cannot impose their hatred or jealousy against that native.

9️⃣ it is interesting to note that once the number of freedom (5) and secrecy/achievements (4) come together, they make 9. nine is the number representative of kuja. nine denotes strength, leadership, knowledge, and fire. it is a number described as “a man who walks with the torch of intelligence [buddha], in a road full of blood stains [kuja], not seeing the snake below his feet [rahu].”. modeling the fiery and strong spirit of indra, slaying great beasts in battle, much like how the owl is one of the only animals to beat the snake into submission (rahu).

mädchen amick: jyeshta surya

recall from the earlier paragraphs, jyeshta is considered to be linked to the goddess lakshmi (the sister of jysheta’s comparative goddess: alakshmi). lakshmi is depicted as sitting on an owl. this owl is why jyeshta is associated with the supernatural owl. owls are said to symbolize knowledge, wisdom, and dread. the owl is also closely linked to the dawn of death and misery. the differences of the spiritual associations of the owl is symbolic of the axis of jyeshta/alakshmi and lakshmi. due to their rare and majestic nature, many cultural myths associate owls with the presence of a higher being, such as guardians, spiritual guides, and vahanas. their ominous hoot is an anamnesis of being lost in a dark forest reeking of danger and the scent of pine. the owl may either be your beacon of light, carrying the auspicious powers of lakshmi into your life, or bringing detrimental, loss and death to your dearest beloved.

the name of lakshmi’s vahana owl is known as uluka. uluka is considered to be another name for lord indra (the deity ruling jyeshta). the combination of the goddess of wealth (lakshmi) and the king of heaven (indra) personifies the auspicious, wealthy, and powerful spirit linked to the owl. because the owl dwells in the night, it is also a symbol of the darkness of ignorance (avidya). the owl’s aversion towards the daytime is indicative of turning away from the solar path to embrace the feminine forestry of the night. the is why lakshmi is said to guide one to open the eyes to the light of wisdom residing within themselves. she is said to guide you to the goddess saraswati, who is said to rule our knowledge, alphabet, and the tongue (recall jyeshtas penchant for the tongue). uluka becomes lakshmi’s vahana when she blesses wealth and prosperity. the owl asks of lakshmi’s devotees to not be trapped by the illusions of wealth (444), warning against the dangers of arrogance and stressing discipline. when her wealth is used by humans for inauspicious activities, one is said to be blinded, like owl who can longer tolerate the bright rays of surya. it is then uluka embraces the antithesis of the axis and becomes a bird of ill omen flying the goddess of alakshmi around to your door-step, bringing darkness, disgrace, inauspiciousness and misfortune.

the show “twin peaks” is heavily influenced by the jyeshta nakshatra, as approximately 25% of it’s cast and four directors have prominent jyeshta placements (surya, chandra, lagna, or atmakarala). it centers around a small logging town filled with murder. in this show, nothing is as it seems, intuition is valued, and your dreams guide you. a common phrase in the show is: “the owls are not what they seem”. in the show, there appears to be two paranormal realms, the black lodge and the white lodge. these realms correlate to the lodge spirits, who are unable have physical bodies. because of this, they are limited in the ways they can travel outside the lodges and usually require a host/vessel. while other spirits exist in various mediums, like wood, electricity, and running water.

⛰ the owls are said to be a physical medium of the watchful eyes of the lodge spirits. the owls are theorized to control the entire narrative of the story, invoking harm or bliss. they serve as a barrier and channel between the illusionary twin peaks and the deeply uneasy spiritual lodge realms. in the show, they literally serve as a mask to cover the face of a harmful spirit. thus, the owls are not what they seem. they may channel the deity they please and bring the essence of lakshmi or alakshmi to your door.

♟the owls are reminiscent of the nature of scorpio. scorpio is representative of the eighth house of the zodiac. with kuja being it’s rashi lord, we see a strong amount of strength, energy, achievements and inheritance in the lives of these natives. because scorpio is the watery dusthana, they have a strong intuitive nature when they let their guard down. in twin peaks, you will see many characters try to appear strong when, in reality, they are some of the weakest and sensitive characters in the whole show. an example of this is shelly (played by jyeshta native mädchen amick). shelly married an abusive man who expected her to only do domestic chores and be subservient. she tries to appear fine and cover the bruises to protect her other lover, but quickly her illusion is shattered. she becomes lost and scared, only to regain her confidence via her other partner. another possible jyeshta co-star, kimmy robertson (who played lucy), struggles with handling her romantic endeavors and is quite stubborn. once she feels she has met the right partner, her stubborn nature corrodes like a boulder chipping away from a cliff, only to reveal a sweet, pleasant waterfall of love. due to the scorpio rashi’s strong intuition, they generally have fixed ideas and tend to relentlessly follow them out of faith in their perception of the unknown. the deputy chief (played by jyeshta buddha atmakaraka native michael horse) is known for following his intuition and, due to this, he eventually ends up saving the lives of many others. scorpios also tend to value a small, close-knit friend group. we see the small town of twin peaks frequently coming together to help each other in need.

the eighth house is associated with the unveiling of deep secrets. this is why scorpios feel the immense need to get to the state of raw purity (the cosmic egg) to examine the situation in it’s purest form. throughout the entire series, mysteries are repeatedly being discovered and solved. however, these mysteries do not solely require the analytical mind. they also require the help and guidance of outside and unexplainable sources. in order to solve these mysteries, you must channel the nature of the owl to evaluate both sides. the eighth house/scorpio is also said to rule the genitals, whereas, kuja is said to heavily influence the sexual organs. in the entire show, sexual pursuits, pr*stitution, and kundalini energy is rampant. sexual energy abundance and accumulation is the cause of adoration. this is why we see jyeshta natives, like the fictional character holli would, nicki minaj, or fka twigs, exciting the sexual passion within others and enticing the masses with their trickster nature. you will often notice many jyeshta (and other buddha/kuja natives) natives create a great deal of sexualized content to express their untamable and playful skill. they embody indra in combat and wield their bodies like a cosmic sword, exciting the virility in others with their sharp nature. however, jyeshta natives do not care for pleasing the average partner, they wish to dominate them with their seemingly submissive nature. they thrive in an environment of underestimation and want you to assume they are a surreal illusion. much like the ashlesha nakshatra, jyeshtas are either tamed or dominated, but—more frequently—they are the one’s to dominate, as many people do not know to handle such icy, hot energy and are simply in mere awe of their beauty. this issue with knowing how to work along with jyeshtas and rise to their level is something many people struggle with. instead of wishing to see the jyeshta flourish and glow with passion, they will try to drag them down to their own low vibrational level, reminding jyeshtas of their original gandanta point of sorrow.

princess nokia: jyeshta chandra

water and, thus, the color blue holds great power in the lives of jyeshta. the jyeshta goddess herself was adorned with blue-black garments and is said to hold a blue lotus in her right hand. the color blue is said to be associated with shani and the lotus is representative of the vimshottari evolution of shani. the many shades of blue are reminiscent of the azure of a clear sky. shani is the planet of hard work, determination, and respect. if you honor shani, you will likely be at the zenith of life. shani is debilitated in the bharani nakshatra (representative of the famale yoni). bhumi is said to mount the elephant and jyeshta’s nature is often compared to the elephant (the yoni of bharani). we see water personifying their internal struggle of diligence and sexuality. the element of water itself flows and crashes with it’s feminine luster. it denotes cleansing, rebirth, and vital energy. the practice of swimming and watery movement is said to excite the feminine spirit and remove all negative energies that encompass the individual. think of how you take a refreshing bath or wash your face. the act of cleansing and the alignment with the water element is energizing and refreshing. recall the christian practice of baptism. baptism is said to be a christian rite of admission. it uses the rejuvenating power of sprinkling, pouring, or entrenching the devotee with water to wash away their sins. this behavior parallels to the churning of the cosmic ocean to produce the elixir of youth, as christians believe baptism saves the youth/innocence of your soul.

jyeshtas are often forced to grow up quite early in their lives. the often harsh and toxic environments they are surrounded by do not yield a balanced and cleansed individual. it is destined for them to put on a mask or illusion cope with this (recall the demonic spirit who used the owl mask in “twin peaks”). it allows them to feel protected, as how harnessing their sexuality brings them great power. but deep down, they are innocent and youthful spirits. paralleling the goddesses jyeshta and alakshmi who lived lives of great strife but had a kind soul. their aversions to auspiciousness is something they could not control. it was their destiny. the life of jyeshtas are said to be incredibly karmic and destined. they cannot control the terrible and harsh energies of those who may come and go in their lives, but they can choose to walk through the smoky abyss or deep, cleansing waters to see if there is light on the other side of life.

it is not uncommon to see jyeshta natives enjoying a good cigarette or cigar. as i once discussed in my magha exploration, natives of the gandanta points enjoy the symbolism and release smoke brings. this is because gandanta points are where the water and fire elements meet and cross. water is symbolic of the divine feminine (4H, 8H, 12H) and fire is symbolic of the divine masculine (1H, 5H, 9H). these elements are complete opposites. when water and fire collide, the water subdues the fire and we are only left with smoke. in the song “smoke on water” by deep purple (who has five members with prominent jyeshta placements), we see the nature of this smoky elemental intermingling under the co-rulership of ketu. the promiscuity of water and purification of fire combines and forms the infinite knot. ketu is the south node, representing our past lives and karma. whereas, buddha is the planet of awakening the discriminating intellect between benefic and malefic actions, essentially good and evil. the harsh, polar forces of water and fire (rashi elements) coupled with past lives and karma (ketu) and knowledge (buddha), create this need for escapism. the need for stimulation to calm the ever-present sense of anxiety or physical ailments gandanta natives are prone to. the use of cigars, cigarettes, or cylinder-shaped products of other smoky varieties () as a way to ease their anxious nature. as the dusthana houses are uneasy, ketu is unstable, and buddha plays tricks on the mind.

the cylinder shape of these smoky, stress-relieving products is symbolic of yang energy (the phallus). while this may sound odd, the intoxicating (yin) energy of tobacco and the yang shape of these products creates the perfect balance of water and fire to attract these natives. this is reminiscent of the nineveh cylinder. this cylinder is designed to be a message to the universal one and directs the eyes are set upon it. it is only the eyes that contain an energetic consciousness who will be able to understand the cylinder’s message. you must be able to feel and think to be integrated into the powers of the cylinder and hence the have the power to ascend. one’s energetic signature then changes and only then may the individual have the ability to receive it’s messages or symbols. this acts as a cosmic safety valve to prevent the duality of the lower dimensional worlds from contaminating the higher dimensions that reside in cosmic unity (indra). it represents achieving the human ability to go within your self and untie the knot/noose of tripura sundari within to balance one’s intention, focus and willpower. the symbol of latter is an upward or downward pointed triangle. this triangular figure is symbolic of completion, the three worlds tripura sundari transcends. the journey for jyeshtas is long and hard, filled with fire and water, smoke and mirrors, and lightness and darkness. the cylinder of nineveh invites jyeshtas to walk through the smoky abyss, through the yang passage of the cylinder to untie their inner knot of restriction to be finally free from the harsh realities of this world.

as always, i am open to any constructive criticism! i tried to touch on the deities’ involvement in the appearances, manifestations, and symbolism of jyeshta. to be quite frank, studying the story of jyeshta brought me to tears. it’s unfair the amount of harm and difficulty they experience in their lifetimes, but their determination and wit pulls them through. studying these many deities, symbolism, cultures, and religions for this post has been so honoring and humbling. as i was making this post, a bunny approached my window and i do not live in an area where rabbits are common. i just thought that was a lovely sign, i’d be a fool to think this is merely a coincidence. if you are looking for more information about jyeshta, get to know the overrulers and supreme deities of kuja, bhumi (the earth goddess) and skanda (the war god), and buddha, vishnu (the maintainer) and narayana (the cosmic person). also—and i cannot stress this enough—familiarize yourself with the deity of this nakshatra: indra. if any of my placements or information are incorrect please feel free to let me know! also, i am fully aware of the origins of vedic astrology and if i was in anyway disrespectful to hindu culture, i will take down this post immediately. i am incredibly honored to know such lovely vedic astrology enthusiasts. you all mean so much to me xx

*A MAJOR TW FOR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!! please put your mental health first and understand that nothing online is more important than your mental state love*

please also read my post on the mythology of rahu and ketu prior to reading this. it will allow you to better understand the nature of shatabhisha:

https://vindelllas.tumblr.com/post/643640120238555137/rahu-and-ketu-in-vedic-astrology-horoscope

shatabhisha lies in the heart of the aquarius rashi. aquarius, being ruled by shani, creates a beautiful juxtaposition of exotic and hypnotizing features that garner the attention of the masses. in general, they could have basic features, but it is almost as if a magnetic film adorns their body to attract the attention of others. their facial structure is typically quite chiseled. shani is said to govern the bones, so they will particularly have great bodily structure overall, especially since aquarius is said to rule the legs (particularly the lower part of the legs). they prefer to have very prominent brows, depending on their time frame, their eyebrows are either very thin (1940s-60s, 90s-00s) or quite bushy (70s, 2010s-). rahu rules the mouth, lips, and teeth. you will notice that many shatabhisha natives will have famous scenes that involve the use of their mouth. such as, sarah michelle-geller’s famous kissing scene in “cruel intentions”, alicia silverstone’s famous chewing gum scene in “clueless”, winona ryder chewing licorice in “heathers”, etc.. even shatabhisha native cindy crawford was known for her pouty lips and has her own lipstick campaign. thanks to the suggestion of the lovely @/vediclover8 on twitter, popular model khawlah al anezi, shatabhisha chandra, has very prominent lips and often takes close-up pictures with her lips being the vocal point of the photograph. according to the bible, the lips denote the interior things of a person, their internal worship, from which is adoration, it is even used to represent a prophet. in the given passage below, the prophet’s lips were touched, and, thus, his iniquity was taken away and his sin expiated. this action is representative of our interior being signified by the lips, denoting charity and its doctrine.

Jehovah shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked (Isa. 11:4).

✨khawlah al anezi: shatabisha chandra

there is great abundance within the lips. some cultures even believe the lips of a person to be the karaka of their soul. you may tell a great deal of a person based on their lips. hence, why shatabhishas (and other rahu natives) typically obtain larger lips, or other dramatic facial features in general. they wish to transcend cosmic perfection and embody the surreal beauty that almost hurts to look at. they want to be a dream-like being. it’s not unusual for them to favor dramatic facial features, as shani bestows this naturally to his nakshatra natives. however, rahu adds this insatiable and vain desire to obtain his wishes. this insatiable need to embody the collective desire influences them to work hard to obtain what they view to be perfection. they are no stranger to plastic surgery, intense work out routines (they typically have a good respiratory system for this, as rahu is the karaka of the lungs), and makeup and skincare. think of the shatabhisha natives like rihanna who owns tu the multimillion fenty skincare and makeup company or kesha who owns kesha rose, a new makeup line.

✨alicia silverstone: shatabhisha surya

however, shatabhisha does not want to embody the male fantasy or the status quo. unlike ardra, who wants to devote themselves to their partners, and swati, who naturally embodies the male fantasy. shatabhishas attract high levels of sexual attention because they cater to their own fantasy. this is because shatabhisha is the veil that separates us from the physical and astral plane. this veil subconsciously draws in the adoration and favor of the masses. recall prince, frank sinatra, and elvis presley—who are all shatabhisha natives. they have this highly transcendental nature that transports you to a time of simplicity and deep love. the masses view shatabhishas as this ideal being, this causes many of these natives to feel a great deal of pressure and have many cyclical patterns in their shadow state. what once gave them freedom becomes an entrapment ⭕️. this is why we see these natives reach a level of despair or destruction in their lives. their rahuvian fantasy they created becomes adopted by the masses and popularized. due to the grossing popularity of the traits that once brought individuality to the shatabhisha native, it loses it’s appeal after awhile and people are left continuously craving more from them. examine the undertone shifts of shatabhisha’s music below. you will notice this freshness and unique quality to their earlier music and a dull sense of finality in their later works:

elvis presley (shatabhisha chandra): “jailhouse rock” (1957) and “blue eyes crying in the rain” (1976)

prince (shatabhisha chandra): “raspberry beret” (1985) and somebody’s somebody (1996)

THE MOST SHATABHISHA ARTIST - johnny cash (shatabhisha surya and buddha): “i walk the line” (1957) and “hurt” (2002)

✨alice pagani: shatabhisha surya

⭕️ as discussed earlier, shatabhisha is the cosmic circle. they either have the choice of remaining in this cyclical state or transcending the confines of repetition. because shatabhisha is the height of rahu, the planet of obsessions, they fall prey to many behaviors and tools that rely on addiction and fiendish behaviors. the undoing and unraveling of these natives will be because of their craving for escape from being the middle man between the astral and physical planes. this escape typically comes in the form of addiction to drugs. drugs give these natives the false illusion of breaking the cosmic cycle and finding expansion in imprisonment. prince was addicted to percocets; michael jackson (shatabisha lagna) was addicted to opioids; johnny cash was addicted to cocaine; elvis presley was addicted to opiates and codeine; even the first men to have written about the scientific usages of cocaine, amerigo vespucci had shatabhisha ketu and karl koller had shatabhisha surya and shukra. the most famous drug lord billionaire pablo escobar had shatabhisha lagna. you will also find the primary reasoning for shatabhisha’s death is drug-related. this correlates to the meaning of ouroboros.

✨samantha robinson: shatabhisha chandra

the insatiable head of rahu and the cyclical expanse of the cosmic circle itself is reminiscent of ouroboros. ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating it’s own tail. this symbol originated in ancient egyptian iconography, the ouroboros entered western tradition by greek traditions and became a prominent symbol for gnosticism, alchemy, and hermeticism. the term ouroboros derives from the greek term οὐροβόρος, οὐρά means ‘tail’ and βορός means’-eating’. it is a symbol often interpreted as the eternal cyclic renewal or the cycle of life, death, and rebirth (themes of shatabhisha). it’s symbolism has been used to describe the kundalini. the yoga-kundalini upanishad, defines this correlation as “the divine power, kundalini, shines like the stem of a young lotus; like a snake, coiled round upon herself she holds her tail in her mouth and lies resting half asleep as the base of the body”. the shedding of a snake’s skin also symbolizes the renewal of self, the snake biting its own tail is a fertility symbol in some religions, and the tail of the snake is a phallic symbol, the mouth is a yonic or womb-like symbol. which correlates to rahu being symbolized by the mouth; shatabhisha being of the most feminine and expansive yoni: the horse yoni; and rahu’s mahavidya, chinnamasta.

✨samara weaving: shatabhisha chandra

according to the panchatantra grantha, once parvati went with her friends, dakini and varnini, to take a bath in the mandakini river. parvati was elated and enveloped with love, causing her complexion to darken. her friends became hungry and asked parvati to give them some food. parvati asked them to wait and said that she would feed them soon and began walking. soon, her friends once again asked her for food and told her that she was the mother of the universe and the children. they used this reasoning to demand that their hunger be satiated immediately. the lovely parvati laughed and with her fingernail slit her own head. the blood immediately spurted into three directions. her two friends drank the blood from two of the directions and parvati herself drank the blood from the third direction. because parvati cut off her own head, she is known as the tantric mahavidya chinnamasta. chinnamasta is said to symbolize the courageous efforts needed to make the most inconceivable sacrifice for those you love. parvati’s severed head symbolizes the liberation of shatabhisha. as a person’s individual identity is a state of conditioning or limitation, dependent on qualities, think of shatabhisha natives’ susceptibility to illusions and narcotics. the action of decapitation reveals the true maternal being of the feminine yoni that is shatabhisha. which is unconditioned, infinite, and boundlessly free. this symbolism of freedom is reinforced by the aquarius rashi (the natural eleventh house of limitless gains) and chinnamasta’s nudity. her nudity symbolizes that she cannot be covered or contained by any garment, due to her finding abundance in infinity and self-government. to chinnamasta’s left, dakini is black and, to her right, varnini is red. chinnamasta herself is white. these three colors, black, red, and white, represent the three gunas. all three gunas belong to prakriti, the principle of materiality of all nature itself. it denotes that nothing exists or is birthed without the mother (parvati). it is she who is responsible for the limitless abundance of earth and satiates her children with her warm blood, like the milk of a mother or prana.

✨winona ryder: shatabhisha chandra

*i understand that many of you do not follow me on twitter so i want to include a revised thread on shatabhisha i made recently*

shatabhisha is the nakshatra of limitless possibilities. it is symbolized by the empty circle and a thousand stars/flowers. the deity of shatabhisha is varuna, the deity of the cosmic and terrestrial water, the sky and earth. he is the mystical healer and the lord of maya (illusion). shatabhisha is the final vimshottari nakshatra of rahu. it is here, rahu is calmed by shani, as shatabhisha lies in the aquarius rashi. aquarius is the natural auspicious eleventh house of the zodiac, the house of gains and strong income. it is the house of one’s aspirations and desires. indastro says the the eleventh house is the 5th from the 7th house, which represents our desires, thus, it refers to the fulfillment or the defiance of desires, which is why it is called the house of gains. the eleventh house is also representative of your social environment. this is why shatabishas, which lies in the heart of aquarius, naturally are aware of the desires of others and help you realize what you wish to do in your lifetime. friendship is important to them and likely comes easy to them, almost to the point of obsession.

in the netflix show “baby”, shatabhisha surya native alice pagani plays an underage pr*stitute who ends up befriending an “innocent” and seemingly kind girl (chiara). alice lives a life of not caring about the consequences of her actions, failing school, drinking alcohol, and being an esc*rt. chiara lives a life of craving perfection, great grades, and promise. alice’s character exposes chiara to her world of sugaring. although reluctant to the lifestyle at first, chiara begins to become obsessed with the sugar lifestyle and it becomes the only thing she wants. alice’s character starts to slowly feel trapped by that lifestyle and no longer wants to participate in those behaviors. in the movie “une fille facile”, sofia (played by shatabisha surya native zahia dehar) plays an esc*rt who stays with her innocent cousin in the summer. sofia is promiscuous, care-free, and marches to the beat of her own drum. whereas, her cousin is depicted as a nervous, intelligent, and “pure” person. sofia enjoys taunting older men and enjoying the luxuries of sugaring. her cousin idolizes her lifestyle and wants to be exactly like her, copying her style and even getting her exact same tattoo. chiara and alice pagani’s characters get matching tattoos as well (more on rahu’s tattoo symbolism below). sofia’s cousin becomes obsessed with sofia and, due to amounting circumstances, sofia can no longer take her wanton lifestyle and up and leaves her cousin.

⛓ in “baby”, we saw shatabhisha native alice exposing her friend to the world of sugaring. in “une fille facile”, sofia, another underage esc*rt, exposes her innocent cousin to the world of sugaring. in both storylines, the innocent friend becomes entrenched by the enamoring powers of such a dangerous and expansive lifestyle of shatabhisha and becomes obsessed with both them and their lifestyle. whereas, the shatabhisha natives eventually wake up and realize that the life they are living is what they no longer want. however, their friends are now completely obsessed with their newfound taste of freedom and take issue with leaving their the shatabhisha old friend’s lifestyle. the shatabhisha native ends up feeling trapped and reaches a breaking point and leaves. this is because rahu is the planet of obsession and desires. he is quickly fueled by the magnetic popularity he receives in the eleventh house, but these natives quickly feel trapped and restricted by what they once regarded as their friends.

see, varuna reminds me of the esoteric meaning of the mirror, i know the mirror is said to be inherently venusian, but there is power in the vibrations of your reflection. mirrors are directly linked to the astral plane and are a neutral, but illusionary, device as well. it is all about the vibrations you put into the mirror, because you will receive it directly back. the obsession of one’s appearance and outer reflection is here in shatabhisha. until, eventually, they either embrace the ouroboros and kundalini powers of maya or snap. the limitless expansion within themselves creates this unnerving attraction and causes many individuals to crave to see the shatabhisha native they so wholeheartedly desire staring back at themselves in their reflection. it is like the expansive nature of shatabhisha causes those around them to become consumed and reborn by the shatabhisha native’s ether. it is literally like they give life (whether it is positive or negative) to people. people will resent their unbelievable beauty and carefree nature and people will then walk all over them for it. how the shatabhisha native reacts to this is entirely up to them.

some other examples of this is are shatabhisha chandra native alice silverstone as ‘cher’ in “clueless” (as suggested by @/vanillemercure on twitter). cher is depicted as a popular and upbeat teenager who has a special penchant for fashion. cher decides to makeover the new girl in school: tai. she tries to make tai into a popular, more fashionable girl. tai was originally quite impressionable and looked up to the opinions of cher. once she was made over, people began to notice her more and fawn over her beauty. this eventually goes over her head and causes her to start to neglect cher and not care about her. due to cher and tai’s fight over a boy, cher reaches a breaking point and realizes the life she truly wants to live and the love she longs for. in “cruel intentions”, shatabhisha chandra sarah michelle-gellar plays kathryn. kathryn seems like your stereotypical shallow rich girl with dark tendencies. she does not care for following the rules and lives as she pleases. she makes a seductive deal with her frenemie sebastian to see if he can take the v*rginity of the new headmaster’s daughter. only, once sebastian starts to get to the know the headmaster’s daughter, he realizes the cruelty of their wager. kathryn is outted for her terrible and harsh past and habits. her reputation (illusion/maya) is completely shattered and destroyed. winona ryder (shatabisha chandra) played ‘veronica’ in the film “heathers”. veronica is a part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behavior. when veronica and her new boyfriend, j.d., confront the leader of the popular clique and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. veronica realizes that j.d. is intentionally killing students he does not like. eventually, she too reaches a breaking point, after stopping j.d. from killing the whole school. she stops trying to fit in with popular clique and realizes life truly has both none and infinite meanings. the same applies to her character in the movie “girl, interrupted”. shatabisha chandra samara weaving plays ‘grace’ in “ready or not”. grace could not be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family’s luxurious estate. however, she must hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows and other weapons. grace desperately tries to survive the night and continuous comes up with clever ways to save her life. once grace survives the night, her in-laws still continue to try to kill her. however, they are unsuccessful and all attempts are ceased when they start to blow up in front of her. she laughs at their attempts, while she is covered in their blood. she has broken free from her in-laws heinous acts (the cyclical force) against her and embodied the devil himself (prying the veil between the physical and astral plane). shatabhisha is all about you reap what you sow. they are the expansive reality of maya. they are fully aware of the presence of the divine collective and the power of consciousness. they do not care about what is inherently evil or divine, as they know that life is essentially both. it transcends the need for labels. shatabhisha is rebirth and renewal. it’s obsession and transcendence. once they pass the defining stage of their life, they realize that most of the people in this world are just hollow shells bending to the will of the divine collective.

recall that the aforementioned characters are known for their independence, exactly like chinnamasta. people look to these natives and wish for them to behave as parvati, the cosmic mother. they want these shatabhisha natives to pour their essence into them to feed their uncontrollable longings. like dakini and varnini, their friends and the masses will continuously remind them of their needs and wants (recalling the eleventh house) and feel as if the shatabhisha native owes them happiness and fulfillment.

✨sarah michelle-geller: shatabhisha chandra

rahu is also associated with tattoos, especially the ardra nakshatra. as ardra is the planetary intermingling of the energies of rahu and buddha. buddha, who is also known for bestowing a love for tattoos, is a friend of rahu. rahu is illusionary in nature so the natives of rahu pay great attention to their appearance. in ardra, we see the use of tattoos to simply express who they are. like ardra native margot robbie who has stated many times she enjoys tattooing smiley faces on the toes of her friends. in swati, we see them using tattoos to help reinforce their image. think of swati native adriana lima who has a curved, sharp tattoo on her left ankle. she reportedly got this tattoo during her “rebellious” years and wanted something to commemorate it. in shatabhisha, we see these natives want to adorn themselves with something that is unique and conveys who they truly are. think of erykah badu (shatabhisha surya) who infamously got “allah” tattooed in arabic on her bare shoulders. rihanna (shatabhisha surya) who got the egyptian goddess isis under her breasts to pay tribute to her grandmother and matching star tattoos on the back of her neck to match her ex. this matching tattoo phenomena is a theme of shatabhisha. remember the matching tattoos in “baby” and “une fille facile”. victoria beckham (shatabhisha shukra and brihaspati) and david beckham got the same quote tattooed for their sixth anniversary. sophie turner (shatabhisha surya and mars) and joe jonas have several matching tattoos. macaulay caulkin (shatabhisha chandra) and paris jackson (shatabhisha brihaspati) got matching spoon tattoos. this all correlates to aquarius being the house of great friendship and rahu’s inclination for foreign bodily adornment and niche subcultures, birthing a significant need for finding themselves in hidden meanings (like tattoos, ouroboros, or other occultic topics).

✨drew barrymore: shatabhisha surya

in shatabhisha, you either free yourself from the demands of others and the cyclical nature of life (chinnamasta) or drown in illusion (varuna). i want to close with exploring more of the meanings of ouroboros. in norse mythology, the ouroboros appears as the serpent, named jörmungandr, one of the three children of loki and angrboda. jörmungdar grew so large that it could encircle the world and grasp its tail in its teeth. according to the legends of ragnar lodbrok, the geatish king herraud offers a small lindworm as a gift to his daughter, рora town-hart, the lindworm grows into a large serpent which encircles his daughter’s bedroom and bites itself in the tail. the serpent is then slain by ragnar lodbrok who marries the daughter. ragnar later has a son with another woman named kráka. his son is born with the image of a white snake in one eye. the snake encircled his iris and bit itself in the tail, and, thus, the son was named sigurd snake-in-the-eye. amongst the indigenous people of south america, they believe that the waters at the edge of the disc-shaped world are encircled by a snake, particularly an anaconda, biting its own tail. even in the book of leviathan, the leviathan is a singular creature with no mating partners, whose “tail is placed in its mouth". the phenomena of ouroboros even goes back as far as the poems of kalir (a hebrew poet who wrote classical verses) in the 6th-7th centuries CE. the indigenous people of south america’s emphasis of the circulation of an anaconda around the earth is reminiscent of varuna (the deity of shatabhisha). varuna is the god of the oceans like the anaconda snake who theoretically encapsulates the ocean. varuna’s vehicle is the makara (the crocodile) like the movie “lake placid vs. anaconda”, starring yancy butler (shatabhisha ketu). it is a cheesy film about a town sheriff who has to find a way to kill a gigantic crocodile and anaconda before they kill and destroy the whole town. this is the essence of the uncontrollable nature of varuna. he is a deity that believes in the equilibrium harmony between the “good” and “bad”. these descriptive adjectives do not even exist to varuna, as he is the fluidic being of ether and water. he will allow you to reach your fullest potential and guide you through your earthly desires. hence, sigurd snake-in-the-eye who was born of the earthly desire of his father to move onto another woman. the child received a snake in his eye, both symbolizing the circulatory nature of shatabhisha and rahu’s bestowment of mesmerizing and maya-like (illusionary) eyes. this is due to the eyes being reportedly a “window to the soul”. the more captivating and mesmerizing your eyes are, the more intoxicating and beautiful your soul may seem.

✨cindy crawford: shatabhisha surya

as always, i am open to any constructive criticism! i tried to touch on the appearances, manifestations, and symbolism of shatabhisha and i hope i did these hypnotizing natives justice! shatabhisha is genuinely such an expansive, captivating, and transcendental nakshatra ⭕️ these natives seem to always give off a completely otherworldly presence via their exotic features and them being the cosmic veil. if you are looking for more information about shatabhisha, get to know the overrulers and supreme deities of saturn, yama (god of death) and prajapati (the creator) and rahu, durga (the goddess of power) and the serpent god. also—and i cannot stress this enough—familiarize yourself with the deity of this nakshatra: varuna. if any of my placements or information are incorrect please feel free to let me know! also, i am fully aware of the origins of vedic astrology and if i was in anyway disrespectful to hindu culture, i will take down this post immediately xx

the mythology of rahu and ketu :

i am about to take a deep dive into the lunar and nodal nakshatras so i thought this would be the perfect post to prelude my upcoming explorations of the nakshatras of chandra, rahu, and ketu!

✨rahu depicted above:

for those who are new to vedic astrology, ketu and rahu are the shadow planets of the moon. they are what many tropical astrologers refer to as the south node (ketu) and north node (rahu). except, in vedic astrology, they have more intricate and prevalent meanings. rahu’s ruling deity is often said to be the goddess durga and ketu’s ruling deity is said to be lord ganesha.

✨ketu depicted above:

rahu means “to abandon” or “void”. rahu is the prince of the daityas (the offspring of the goddess diti and kasyapa, they are giant spirits who fought against the devas out of jealousy towards their deva half-brothers). rahu was born the son of viprachitta and sinhika. whereas, ketu means a “sign” or “banner” and is the son of viprachitta and sinhika, as rahu and ketu are two sides of the same coin (they are two imaginary planets, of the same origin, that can only be evaluated when both are taken into account).

the solar system takes approximately 365 days for the earth to orbit the sun and approximately 28 days for the moon to orbit the earth. twice a year, the lunar and solar paths intersect to create solar and lunar eclipses. during these eclipses, the sun/moon is enshrouded by the darkness of one of the nodes. as discussed previously, rahu is the ascending node and ketu is the descending node. they will always be retrograde (as the nodes move backwards) and opposite of each other.

the story of rahu and ketu’s origin lies in the puranic texts (whose date of origin is said to be of the time before creation). after a deeply strenuous and violent war, the gods and demons decided to work together to churn the galactic material (milk ocean). this material is called amrita, the nectar of immortality, which was created out of the intent for the gods’ use alone. the snake demon, who sat between the thrones of surya and chandra, sneakily took a sip of amrita. lord vishnu, the sustainer of the universe, almost immediately be-headed him. this is why rahu is said to be the head of the serpent demon without a body and ketu is the tail without a head. due to rahu taking a sip of amrita, they are now immortal. lord vishnu placed rahu and ketu in two specific points in the sky. they are now only visible when eclipsing the sun and moon.

here’s a link to another version of the story:

https://www.astrology-prophets.com/rahu-and-ketu-in-astrology.php

✨ you will notice that ketu is depicted as sitting on the crow. the mahavidya correlated to ketu, dhumavati (one of the ten tantric goddesses), is also symbolized by the crow. the crow is said to be symbolized by the tamasic shani too. this is why feeding crows is considered to be a remedy for an afflicted rahu, ketu, or shani! crows are also fed as part of shradh, a hindu ritual, which is an annual ritual conducted on the thithi, anniversary, of a person’s death. after someone dies, annually the deceased person’s family prepares a feast consisting of their relative’s favorite dishes. they then take turns to serve the dishes on a banana leaf, then the leaf is placed outside. the relatives call out to the crows to invite them to participate in the feast. once a crow begins to eat from the leaf, it is assumed that the deceased person (now in the form of the crow) has eaten, and the ritual is successfully finished. as this action indicates that the deceased ancestor’s soul is now appeased. crows can also be fed on amavasya days, as our dead ancestors are said to supposedly visit us on those days.

ketu represents our karma, whether it is both good or bad. he represents spirituality and supernatural influences. ketu signifies the refinement of the spiritual process of materialization into the spirit. ketu is considered to be malefic, but not as malefic as the fierce, strong rahu who drank the nectar of immortality. this is why ketu is said to be submissive and cannot aspect other planets like rahu, because ketu is an uncontrollable and fluid being. he represents sorrow and loss and, therefore, is responsible for our journey to seeking a higher power. he will cause material loss for the purpose of bestowing the native with a more fitting spiritual outlook. ketu is also the karaka intelligence, wisdom, non-attachment, fantasy, insight, and psychic abilities. because ketu is not vain and is spiritually rich, he brings prosperity to the devotee’s family and is said to remove the effects of venoms and poisons. if you devote yourself to him, he grants good health, wealth and livestock to his devotees.

⭕️ rahu represents materialism, mischief, fear, dissatisfaction, obsession and confusion. the illusionary and deceitful nature of rahu is also why it is associated with politicians and occult sciences. interestingly enough, rahu is even mentioned in a pair of scriptures from the samyutta nikaya of the pali canon. in the candima sutta and the suriya sutta, rahu attacks surya and chandra. he is then compelled to release them by buddha. buddha instructs rahu to release surya and chandra, the alternative being to have rahu’s head being split into seven pieces. rahu proceeds to release them. the verses spoken by surya, chandra, and buddha in this passage are also recited by monks as prayers of protection. this could be why rahu is said to be friends with buddha, because buddha was one of the few deities who could adequately tame the malefic energies of rahu.

♟each planet is an expression of our own divine consciousness. the nodes are a combination of the earth (body), surya (soul) and chandra (mind). this intense influence is why they are regarded as one of the most influential planets in our creative and illusionary expressions. rahu is insatiable, obsessive and does not know how to take no for an answer. ketu is intelligent, wise, non-attached, and ultimately our spiritual liberation. this is why the rahu/ketu axis tells one what they must do to attain moksha. think of ketu as the defensive king in chess who is limited in the steps he can take but wise in his pursuit. rahu is the offensive queen who has multiple possible routes to take and her power/strength can easily be abused.

you may want to examine the different vibrations and undertones of the songs below to better understand the dichotomy between the nodes:

helena bonham-carter (magha chandra): lower photo

ketu is the exact opposite of rahu, this is the polarity of the rahu/ketu axis. rahu is obsession, ketu is rather detachment. ketu (being the south node) represents everything we’ve already mastered in our past lives, due to this mastery, natives tend to feel a detachment of desire from what they have already achieved or mastered. there is no need to obsess (rahu) over said objects or opportunity. ketu, being detachment from the material realm, invites and pulls the native towards spirituality. in magha, we see the semi-evolved state of ketu and ketu gravitating towards the ancestral astral realm (due to the ruling deity being the pitras). however, due to leo being the natural fifth house, we see magha being pulled towards the themes of this house as well (pleasure and creativity). this dichotomy between spirituality and pleasure may be why we see so many magha natives gravitate towards the usage of drugs, especially tobacco. for example, magha natives like helena bonham-carter in “fight club” and pamela anderson in “barb wire” feature scenes of both women wishing to escape their current situation and disassociate while smoking cigarettes. while this may not seem important to some, i find this to be interesting, due to ketu’s symbolism of already being smoky and tamasic in nature. when looking up some iconic smoking scenes, the native seems to always have magha/ketu placement/s. i.e. the iconic scene of the character mia wallace smoking in her home in “pulp fiction” was played by uma thurman (magha lagna).

all of the neuter planets (mercury, saturn, and ketu) tends to bestow their natives with a somewhat androgynous, slender physique. this is why we see so many supermodels/nepotism models have rashis/nakshatras ruled by these planets. saturn bestows a more long, elongated physique; mercury bestows a more smaller, elvish physique; and ketu bestows a more magnetic, whispy or waify physique (for example, krysten ritter). however, for some magha natives, we see the martian/solar (leo rashi) nature of magha dominating the individual and bestowing them with the typical curvy, busty physique many mars natives are famous for having (i.e. dolly parton and megan thee stallion). it truly depends on the aspects, 1st & 2nd houses, and other primary placements of a native to decide their bodily appearance.

jorja (magha chandra): upper photo

justine skye (magha chandra): lower photo

one thing i noticed among magha natives is the prevalence of gold jewelry. gold is ruled by the planet jupiter. jupiter (the guru) symbolizes wealth, spirituality, education, and culture. wearing gold (being of the jupitarian-ruled color yellow) is said to remedy the negative effects of jupiter in one’s chart. i believe many magha individuals unintentionally wear gold to bring austerity into their often tumultuous lives, as ketu (being of dhumavati) may unfortunately bring much strife, loneliness, and unfulfilled desires to the native. the color opposite of yellow is purple. interestingly enough, ketu is said to be symbolized by the color purple, due to the combination of the red, fiery rashi rulers (aries, leo, sagittarius) and the cool, sublte vimshottari ketu-ruled nakshatras (ashwini, magha, mula). please note that @/kstdt88 on twitter has an amazing, in-depth thread on the purple symbolism of ketu!

uma thurman (magha lagna): upper photo

madelaine petsch (magha surya): lower photo

magha individuals tend to have extremely dark hair or, much like many of the fiery mars natives, red/auburn hair. this is because mars and ketu are said to be extremely similar in nature. both planets possess the same subtle, fiery energy. both are known to convert lighter solar, external energy to serve their own internal, darker energy. this darker energy may reflect in its natives through auburn hair, darker/tanner complexions, and darker eyes/hair. due to ketu also being the dreamy, sleepy south node, magha individuals tend to have very large, dreamy, and lustrous eyes. we can also see many magha natives with plumpy, pouty lips, this likely being the effect of the yin undercurrent of the polarity of the nodes.

aaliyah (magha chandra)

gandanta points are where fire and water rashis (signs) and nakshatras meet. gandanta means the “knot at the end”. according to vedic texts, these points are considered to be prone to have multiple issues in life and the native may be highly susceptible to karma. the gandanta point of magha ranges from 0’00-3’20 (in the aries pada). any planet placed in these points will struggle with feelings of low self esteem and worth. this warps and misconstrues gandanta point natives’ perceptions of their true self (if not remedied). the chandra appears to have the most difficult time in these padas. the chandra is, essentially, one’s soul. if placed in these padas, the soul must learn how to reconcile their karma (whether it be from a past life, ancestral, or from the native’s current life). there is a reason why all ketu nakshatras (ashwini, magha, mula) and mercury nakshatras (ashlesha, jyeshtha, revati) contain these points. ketu is the south node, representing our past lives and karma. whereas, mercury is the planet of awakening the discriminating intellect between benefic and malefic actions, essentially good and evil. the harsh, polar forces of water and fire (rashi elements) coupled with past lives and karma (ketu) and knowledge (mercury), explains the tamasic nature of magha native’s music. i.e. marina (and the diamonds), dolly parton, nancy sinatra, and the neighbourhood’s vocalist jessie rutherford. even though these artists’ genres range from pop country to alternative rock, we still see a common dark undercurrent. all artists have been known to touch on taboo subjects, such as drugs, abusive relationships, and eventually falling susceptible to the power of love. this is the nature of magha’s gandanta point; we see magha become heavily immersed in the veils of intoxication and craving for release from the physical plane. which is why many magha natives, if evolved, transcend this affinity. dolly parton was well known for her hit song “jolene”, in which she pleads with her best friend not to take her man. she essentially talks about craving the intoxicating love of her partner and wishing it to never go away. later on, parton evolves into singing about more positive subject matters like finding healthy love and beauty in her partner (in “islands in the stream”). the same appears to happen with the singer marina (and the diamonds). in marina’s first albums, “the family jewels” and “electra heart”, she sings about having a manic god complex, being a “washed up” teen, abuse, etc.. now, in her latest single, “man’s world”, we see her wanting a patriarchal change and calls for feminine sexual unity and love (this is also why we see so many evolved magha natives embracing their sexuality). these evolutions may sound familiar… going back to one of my last posts, in the ardra nakshatra, we saw this musical progression with ardra native lana del rey as well. this just goes to show the deep, evolutionary path that many natives of the nodes experience; from an obsession with taboo lifestyles to growing into their own being and choosing to open their anahata chakra.

the nakshatras of the most famous “dumb” blondes/“bimbos”

reese witherspoon: uttara bhadrapada surya and mula chandra

disclaimer: i in no way actually believe these women to be unintelligent. terms like “bimbo” and “dumb blonde” were originally used to attack outward expressions of hyperfemininity. these are simply just women who are known for playing characters pertaining to the dumb blonde/girly girl trope!

lindsay lohan: ardra surya, bharani chandra, and mrigashira lagna

jennifer coolidge: magha surya, revati chandra, and vishakha lagna

there is an extreme ketu- and mars-ruled nakshatra prevalence among these women, specifically magha and mrigashira. i believe this is due to both nakshatras belonging to extremely sexual/sexualized yonis. magha, being the male rat, is considered to be the most sexual yoni. this is due to the rat’s sexual & reproductive nature in general. when studying the nakshatras, i always look to understand the foundational nature of the yoni. a female rat is said to birth approximately 60-120 rats per year. she also reaches sexual maturity after nine weeks, this heavy amount of sexual energy is also abundant in magha natives. with magha being the male yoni consort, we can see maghas take issue with harnessing and controlling their energy. this is why we see magha expressing its sexual nature, whether it is intentional or not. i.e. having an extremely attractive physique, dreamy features (due to the ketu vimshottari rulership), and immaculate hair (due to the solar rashi influence).

paris hilton: dhanishta surya, pushya chandra, and jyeshtha lagna

pamela anderson: ardra surya, ashwini chandra, and mrigashira lagna

mrigashira is the female serpent. it is symbolic of the kundalini itself and the magical powers it holds. again, looking at the nature of the yoni here, we know that snakes love to tempt and test the eyes of their beholders and prey. similar to how rohini is associated with garden of eden by some, we can see mrigashira enticing others like the devilish serpent. this enticement generally comes naturally to the native (like magha). this is because the mrigashira nakshatra symbolizes when rohini runs away from the pursuits of brahma. often times, we see martian women repeatedly sought out by those who wish to emulate or sexually pursue them for their naturally curvaceous and aesthetically pleasing features. however, mrigashira (being the first and least evolved martian nakshatra) is unaware of how to harness its natural gifts and, if not remedied, often becomes susceptible to harm in later life. i.e. lindsay lohan (mrigashira lagna) and her drug/paternal issues and jessica simpson (mrigashira chandra) who struggled with sexual abuse and alcoholism.

dolly parton: uttara ashadha surya, magha chandra, and purva phalguni lagna

anna nicole smith: anuradha surya and chitra chandra/lagna

christina aguilera: mula surya, bharani chandra, and dhanishta lagna

denise richards: dhanishta surya, vishakha chandra, and krittika lagna

jessica simpson: punarvasu surya, mrigashira chandra, and vishakha lagna

due to mrigashira being the vimshottari birth of mars and the fleeing child of brahma, we also see this level of distinct innocence, playfulness, and almost child-like behavior. this could be why we see many mrigashira natives stereotyped as being “dumb” or “ignorant” by others (due to many falsely equating their outward, hyperfeminine projections to their internal knowledge and intelligence). contrary to popular belief, this assumption is completely invalid and false. as many mars-ruled are repeatedly abused and harassed by many for their highly abundant kundalini (root & sacral chakra) energy, think lindsay lohan and jessica simpson again.

the beauty of ardra

margot robbie (ardra surya): upper photo

emilia clarke (ardra chandra): lower photo

the nakshatras of the nodes have a very distinctive appearance. the influence of the feminine rahu bestows ardra natives with the typical feminine features, such as delicate facial features, larger eyes, and a voluptuous body. the yin features of rahu gives natives a type of otherworldly and ethereal appearance, similar to that of saturn. this is because both planets are of the air element (for a better understanding of this go to my pushya nakshatra post). these natives typically have large and rounded eyes, dainty noses, and a lighter complexion (depending on the native’s ethnicity, i.e. if a rahuvian woman is of a darker complexion, she may have a slightly lighter complexion than her other non-rahuvian family members).

⭕️ let’s look at rahu’s most evolved state: the shatabisha nakshatra. this nakshatra is symbolized by the empty, yin circle. shatabisha is ruled by varuna, god of the rains, cosmic and terrestrial waters, sky and earth. in addition to the mystical healer, maya (illusion). the nature of shatabisha is also abundant in the other rahu-ruled vimshottari nakshatras (ardra and swati). this is because rahu is the utmost manifestation of the divine feminine. maya, being the embodiment of illusion, betows rahuvian individuals with the power of being an empty vessel for the divine collective; bending reality and transforming into the desires of others the native deems worthy. however, due to rahu’s rebellious nature, we see this powerful feminine force being steadfast and not easily influenced by others.

ardra is the first rahu-ruled nakshatra. in order to better understand the nature of ardra, we need to take a step back and understand the previous nakshatra—mrigashira. mrigashira was the rejection of the garden of ignorance and the freedom to move on. in ardra, we see the process of forming the rational mind and free will. due to the intellectual nature of rudra, we see ardra natives preferring to study, understand, and learn about the physical world/plane. this often leads to a fascination with the physical plane and understanding the workings of everything that peaks their interest. with the mercurial energy of gemini (knowledge) and rahuvian influence of the vimshottari system (materialism and illusion), we can see the reasoning of ardra’s prevelance in dystopian, horror, and sci-fi films. this nakshatra’s fixation on understanding the world and finding freedom is the perfect combination for creating films with dark subject matter. rudra’s intentionally destructive nature also provides ardra natives with a niche ability to accumulate knowledge to understand the workings of the world and destroy what seems to not be fit. precisely how rudra represents the emotional release and purification that occurs after the storms of the plane or mind cease (more on this later!). this is similar to most character development in many horror/sci-fi films and the ever present devil/savior trope. if you’re interested in further looking into this dichotomy, i recommend “the exorcist” starring linda blair (ardra chandra), “bedazzled” staring elizabeth hurley (ardra lagna), and “supernatural” starring mark pellegrino (ardra lagna). this trope is also perfectly illustrated by lana del rey’s (ardra surya) music. in her earlier albums, “born to die”, “paradise”, and “ultraviolence”, the singer describes her natural love of the darker things in life (i.e. drugs, violence, guns). as her albums progress, we see her slowly become more aware of the dangers of her lifestyle and her slowly moving towards love and kindness instead—much like rudra’s symbolism of calming after the tumultuous storms of life. i highly recommend listening to her music to gain an understanding of ardra’s themes!

ardra is heavily associated with animals. it is symbolized by the female dog yoni. this is indicative of ardra’s devotional, emotional, and knowledgeable nature. rudra is the ruler of this nakshatra. rudra desired to become “the lord of the animals”. this nakshatra also has the same animalistic dominion desire of uttara phalguni and revati. this is because the yonis of all three nakshatras are the female dog (ardra), female cow (uttara phalguni), and female elephant (revati). this may be indicative of the motherly, animalistic nature of all three nakshatras. this is also why all three nakshatras get along so well. the animalistic nature of ardra is why we see hundreds of ardra natives in animal prints, fur or leather, or animal symbolism via graphic tees or headbands; similar to the reoccurring cow print in uttara phalguni fashion!

another reoccuring style theme for ardra was the appreciation of 60s fashion, particularly the mod era of the 60s. time and time again, when doing my research for this post, i saw a multitude of ardra natives dress up/try to emulate 60s fashion. ardra natives such as ariana grande’s (ardra surya) 60s-inspired fashion in her most recent music videos (i.e. “34+35”) and chrissy tiegan’s (ardra lagna) multiple 60s themed events. i believe this behavior is due to rahu’s extreme prevalence in old hollywood and the 1960s’ modeling industry. for example, hedy lamarr (ardra lagna) was a prominent actress and inventor, jean shrimpton (swati surya) was an icon of swinging london and very popular model in the 60s, and pat cleveland (ardra surya) was a very well-known model who was the muse of every prominent fashion house in paris. i believe ardra natives try to emulate this era of fashion because of ardra’s appreciation of all things old and vintage, which appears to the nature of many of the rahuvian and ketuvian individuals. an additional thing to note is the prevalence of the color green in the ardra nakshatra. in hindu/vedic astrology, a particular type of color is dedicated to a certain nakshatra in which is lucky for the natives of the nakshatra to wear. green, being the color that symbolizes the fresh, succulent nature of rudra, is why the ardra natives shown above, vienna skye and ariana grande, are both wearing the color green. this also correlates to how many ardra natives have dyed their hair green shades or hues, i.e. gwen stefani (ardra chandra), nicole richie (ardra chandra), and rapper saweetie (ardra surya).

emma mackey (ardra chandra): lower photo

all nodal nakshatras tend to have a propensity for darker elements and themes in the media. this can be reflected in ardra’s love for grungy, smoky makeup; darker clothing; and vampy, vintage hair and fashion looks (much like the magha nakshatra). this darker aesthetic was also heavily popular in the 90s/2000s. most notably, lizzy caplan (ardra surya), who played janis ian in “mean girls”, her character was well known for her liking of punk subculture, heavy eye makeup, and band merchandise, a trait that was also common with the characters played by ardra natives: kaya scodelario (ardra chandra) in “skins” and emma mackey (ardra chandra) in “sex education”. this behavior is prevalent in the ketu and rahu natives because it reflects the smoky and tamasic nature of both shadow planets. by rejecting the more popular, mainstream trends for the purpose of embracing more expressive and alternative movements (such as grunge, punk, rock, alternative, etc.). this why we see the nodal nakshatras so prominent in those subculture musical genres (i.e. ardra natives kurt cobain of “nirvana” and jimmy page of “led zeppelin”).

as always, i am open to any constructive criticism! i tried to touch on both the appearance, fashion and nature of ardra and i hope i did well! this post took me forever to make and i truly tried to put so much effort into it! i just adore ardra’s emotional, purposefully destructive, raw and feminine energy its natives tend to reflect if you are looking for more information about ardra, get to know the overrulers and supreme deities of rahu, durga (the goddess of power) and the serpent god, and mercury, vishnu (the maintainer) and narayana (the cosmic person)!! if any of my placements or information is incorrect please feel free to let me know! also, i am fully aware of the origins of vedic astrology and if i was in anyway disrespectful to hindu culture, i will take down this post immediately xx

@melodious-tear thank you so much!!! ‍❄️❤️

vindelllas:

the nakshatras of the most famous “dumb” blondes/“bimbos”

reese witherspoon: uttara bhadrapada surya and mula chandra

disclaimer: i in no way actually believe these women to be unintelligent. terms like “bimbo” and “dumb blonde” were originally used to attack outward expressions of hyperfemininity. these are simply just women who are known for playing characters pertaining to the dumb blonde/girly girl trope!

lindsay lohan: ardra surya, bharani chandra, and mrigashira lagna

jennifer coolidge: magha surya, revati chandra, and vishakha lagna

there is an extreme ketu- and mars-ruled nakshatra prevalence among these women, specifically magha and mrigashira. i believe this is due to both nakshatras belonging to extremely sexual/sexualized yonis. magha, being the male rat, is considered to be the most sexual yoni. this is due to the rat’s sexual & reproductive nature in general. when studying the nakshatras, i always look to understand the foundational nature of the yoni. a female rat is said to birth approximately 60-120 rats per year. she also reaches sexual maturity after nine weeks, this heavy amount of sexual energy is also abundant in magha natives. with magha being the male yoni consort, we can see maghas take issue with harnessing and controlling their energy. this is why we see magha expressing its sexual nature, whether it is intentional or not. i.e. having an extremely attractive physique, dreamy features (due to the ketu vimshottari rulership), and immaculate hair (due to the solar rashi influence).

paris hilton: dhanishta surya, pushya chandra, and jyeshtha lagna

pamela anderson: ardra surya, ashwini chandra, and mrigashira lagna

mrigashira is the female serpent. it is symbolic of the kundalini itself and the magical powers it holds. again, looking at the nature of the yoni here, we know that snakes love to tempt and test the eyes of their beholders and prey. similar to how rohini is associated with garden of eden by some, we can see mrigashira enticing others like the devilish serpent. this enticement generally comes naturally to the native (like magha). this is because the mrigashira nakshatra symbolizes when rohini runs away from the pursuits of brahma. often times, we see martian women repeatedly sought out by those who wish to emulate or sexually pursue them for their naturally curvaceous and aesthetically pleasing features. however, mrigashira (being the first and least evolved martian nakshatra) is unaware of how to harness its natural gifts and, if not remedied, often becomes susceptible to harm in later life. i.e. lindsay lohan (mrigashira lagna) and her drug/paternal issues and jessica simpson (mrigashira chandra) who struggled with sexual abuse and alcoholism.

dolly parton: uttara ashadha surya, magha chandra, and purva phalguni lagna

anna nicole smith: anuradha surya and chitra chandra/lagna

christina aguilera: mula surya, bharani chandra, and dhanishta lagna

denise richards: dhanishta surya, vishakha chandra, and krittika lagna

jessica simpson: punarvasu surya, mrigashira chandra, and vishakha lagna

due to mrigashira being the vimshottari birth of mars and the fleeing child of brahma, we also see this level of distinct innocence, playfulness, and almost child-like behavior. this could be why we see many mrigashira natives stereotyped as being “dumb” or “ignorant” by others (due to many falsely equating their outward, hyperfeminine projections to their internal knowledge and intelligence). contrary to popular belief, this assumption is completely invalid and false. as many mars-ruled are repeatedly abused and harassed by many for their highly abundant kundalini (root & sacral chakra) energy, think lindsay lohan and jessica simpson again.

btw! my twitter @/VINDELlLAS will be getting a more in-depth version of this thread (if you want to check it out). i just wanted to give you guys a mini thread before i take a break to work on applying to uni & the beauty of magha thread <3
