Can’t help but feel like these two were an intentional shoutout to the Boschlow ship. Which makes sense, since there was absolutely no way the actual ship could ever happen in the show (except as a joke).
I kinda want to know more about these two now and what their deal was. F**k Disney for cutting the show short.
I’m surprised nobody is talking about this moment.
There were many heart-wrenching moments in Reaching Out, but this scene in particular hurt to watch, and not in a cathartic way.
Luz is tired. Between missing her mom and missing her dad - not to mention the frequent struggles of her loved ones and whatever Emperor Belos is planning - she isn’t allowing herself enough time to process her traumas and the near-constant reopening of her wounds.
The crux of her character arc was founded in her longing for a place that accepted her, warts and all. Now Luz bears the responsibility of choosing between two worlds while saving one of them, and it’s wearing her down.
Trying to engage with TOH fandom can be a chore sometimes. While I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE the latest episode “Any Sport In A Storm” for having Willow in the spotlight in full, bringing back fan-beloved characters like Viney and Skara, and making me truly appreciate Hunter’s character and his role in an episode for the first time, and I would like to go into any of these at length… it seems like most of the fandom is more joyous over getting food for their Huntlow/Winter ship.
None of that is the least bit surprising, though, especially in a fandom that loves shipping. (And so do I! Shipping is my life and blood, just… not this ship in particular :p) I’m happy for all y’all Winter shippers, I truly am. But like before, I still find the discourse I have with my peers irl much more engaging and thought provoking than the ones I encounter online.

The amount of time you spend on characters and scenes are important.
That this episode had barely enough time to cover so much content, yet chose to focus on her conflicted expression and the panning shot of her window sill tells us something important about Willow. That she’s possibly a relevant character again makes me hope we get a Willow-centric episode about her and Amity truly reconciling with each other and the past.
Recently recovered from a wicked cold that clawed it self on to me for way too long. I’m officially getting too old for this s*#%… I’m getting the flu shot! No way I’m doing another round of being this pathetic and useless!
Ok, the two season finale eps of Rise was pretty damn dope… actually my new fave eps of the whole season! Great blend of action, plot and humor. And some of those fight scenes… wow, now that’s what I’ve been waiting for! Great animation and there was a genuine sense of severity and peril to a lot of the situations, not just goofing around for laughs. More, pls… Amazing job by everyone involved<3
(And FINALLY I found somewhere in my country I could buy a Nick-DVD with the 7 first eps of the show, “special import from the UK”, about time! I watch the eps online, but damn… I wanna support this thing, they just make it so hard! Perhaps if I nag enough they’ll import more >_>)

So, I’ve taken a small step back from writing lately because the inspiration and energy honestly haven’t been there, but I’ve been nipping at my WIPs little by little, jotting down a few words when ideas randomly pop up. I’ve been doing a lot more reading and allowing myself to catch up on my everlasting to-read list.
I’ve been scrolling through my WIP and sometimes find things I forgot I wrote. I don’t remember if I ever mentioned it before or have posted this, but there’s this one found family fic I had an idea for where Ray and Mickey find themselves in the wrong place, wrong time (or rather, right place, wrong time) and end up saving a little girl who happens to be the daughter of a powerful man and they end up taking her in to protect her. I wrote one scene for it a while back and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get around to writing this so just throwing it out in the universe if this is all it’ll ever be.
“Youkidnapped a child?!” Ros shouts in her closed office.
Mickey gently shushes her as he brings his palms down to signals her to lower her voice.
“We technically saved her,” Ray corrects her.
“Congratulations, now be the knight in shining armor that you are and bring her home.” Ros glances over at the little girl sitting on her couch in her office.
“She doesn’t have one anymore.” Ray’s eyes twitch uncomfortably.
“Excuse me?”
“We kind of walked into the middle of some… dispute and well, we lost a potential business partner and we now have her.” Mickey gestures towards the little girl.
“We couldn’t leave her there—“
“You couldn’t leave her there,” Mickey interrupts Ray.
“Her whole family got wiped out and we found her hiding behind a couch—“
“You found her hiding—“ Mickey interrupts again.
“For fuck’s sake, Michael, I don’t have time for all this. Let Ray finish telling his bloody story.” Ros crosses her arms over her chest.
“One of the gunman was going to kill her but I got to him first. She has nowhere else to go and I don’t know where to take her,” Ray adjusts his glasses.
“So you want me to babysit her while you two fuck off?” Ros points to the two of them.
“It’s only for a few hours, love,” Mickey says.
Ros looks over at the little girl. She’s in her school uniform and she’s sitting there quietly watching the three of them with wide eyes. Ros walks past between Ray and Mickey to the little girl and crouches down to her level.
“Hi. What’s your name, love?” Ros asks with a friendly smile.
The little girl then kicks Ros in her knee, nearly making her tip back and fall. She immediately stands up and limps back while rubbing her knee.
“Ow! You lit’el cunt!”
“Yeah, I forgot to mention she does that,” Ray winces.
Ray and Mickey are quietly sitting in the backseat of the car while Dave and Bunny are in the front. The little girl is tucked between Ray and Mickey, looking straight ahead as the car is moving.

I’m in my third year of uni and this semester is really kicking my ass, so personal art has been postponed till further notice (aka I barely have time to sleep let alone draw outside of uni)
But I hope you’re all doing well and that I can get back on the grind soon!! I’m also going to my first con as an artist in February, so I’m super excited about that
And that’s mainly it for the mini life update, hopefully I can start being more active again over here asap!!
