I dont know if I ever showed you guys our new chameleon. So, this is Pickle! Shes a veiled chameleon, and normally shes a pale green but that night she was having fancy dreams and got all dressed up.
Not sure if this is comfy
I think Merlin likes his sand box
Getting comfy
For some reason, the noise I hear in this picture is mleeeaarh
Blueberry boy
Happy boi
Wittle hand
A sleepy bean
Shedding
Snope (snake pope)
Morel mushroom
people who live in areas where there are native lizards should never take that for granted. you can just go outside and see a little guy hanging out. what’s better than that?
What’s better is when the little guy starts doing little pushups, to impress another little guy you haven’t spotted yet. Or possibly you.
Recognise any of these critters?
Well, thanks to our wonderful government and their plans to remove the protection of these ‘widespread’ species except for the Great Crested Newt, we will likely see less and less of these lovely little critters about.
What does this mean?
These changes mean that these species will no longer be considered under planning protocols, meaning that construction is free to go ahead ontop of their habitats without having to relocate the animals or reconsider planning.
This also means that the trade of wild caught British reptiles and amphibians will become legalised posing a serious threat to their populations and sprouting the opportunity for biosecurity risks to arise such as disease, which is already very prevelant in captivity and could easily decimate wild populations.
This also means it will be legalised to kill and injure many of these species including the beloved slow worm and the adder, our only native species of legless lizard and venemous snake.
The truth is, these animals are hardly as widespread as they were many years ago and many today have never even seen a wild reptile in the UK, this is a guaranteed death sentence and a 1 way ticket to local extinction.
So what can you do?
Sign this petition below in hopes that this can be reconsidered!!
