Los Angeles, California: Somewhere along the line, I lost my owner and then I lost my way.

My name is Azabache, which in Spanish means black amber or jet. I like this name, but I don’t like feeling so unhappy here. I’ve been stressed and unsettled since I arrived at South LA Shelter on June 26th. Anxiety has made me feel older than my eight years.

I’m a neutered, 82 pound, easy-going, jet black with some salt and pepper shaken in dog. I just need some affection and a peaceful place to call my own. I don’t like to cry and whine for attention from the staff and volunteers, but I don’t know how else to express how upset I feel.

The noisy, barking-dog shelter is no place for me. I guess you could say I’m more of a James Taylor than a Steven Tyler - and the shelter is pretty much Tyler all the time. So, if you’re looking for a gentle, affection-loving, older dog who’s good on the leash, please call for me ASAP. I’d be so grateful to go home with you.

And, “Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall,…All you’ll have to do is call…and I’ll come running… With Azabache, you’ve got a friend.”

☎️Call 888-452-7381 with Azabache’s ID # A1985401 to make an appointment to meet him!

All LAAS animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on all their shots (including rabies).

*Azabache is currently at South LA/Chesterfield Sq. Animal Services Center – 1850 W. 60th St. Los Angeles, CA 90047

Ventura, California: Puppies! CARL is now accepting applications for these adorable puppies! Two boys: Yukon and Gumbo, and two girls: Violet and Claire Head to www.carldogs.org and fill out an app!

Please reblog!

This gorgeous dude is just. So. Sweet! Taz is 7 years old, 70 pounds, with a lot of heart…and currently no family to share it with!

Volunteers love spending time with this guy, who takes treats gently, and really seems to crave affection. He has the cutest “longing” look he gives when being petted.

Taz is easy going and calm, and a generally docile dude. He has been at the shelter since coming in as an owner surrender on 5/24/21. Taz’s previous owner had him since he was a puppy and shared that he is well behaved in the house and in the yard and is housetrained. This boy is also a smarty- sit, down, stay, give paw- he’s got it covered!

While at the shelter, Taz participated in playgroup. He seems to prefer a calm group. Volunteers think he may be suited for a home with another mellow dog, or happily as the only dog.

It’s time for Taz to make his way outta there, and get good and cozy with his forever fam! Come give this guy the love and head scratches he deserves! Call about Taz today!

Coatesville, Pennsylvania: Chevelle stands at the door of her kennel just waiting for someone to walk by to give her attention. She’s so darn adorable and she’s so happy to see you with her propeller wagging tail!

Chevelle is craving love and a home so badly; she’s had enough of the kennel life.

Chevelle is a 2-year-old Terrier mix of everything you can imagine that defines sweet. With her by your side, you’re guaranteed wet kisses, a wagging tail, and big smile on her face to start your day. Chevelle is a snuggly, huggable, lovable, fun, and sweet girl, and she even has a heart shape on her side.

To meet Chevelle, please email [email protected] with subject - CHEVELLE.

Hopkinton, Massachusetts: Meet Tanner! This gorgeous guy is about 1 year old, 37lbs, and appears to be an Aussie mix. In his foster home he’s doing wonderfully with house and crate training and walks nicely on leash. ‍ Described as medium energy, he’s the perfect balance of active but cuddly: always down for a walk or zoomy session in the yard, but also content to hang out indoors on a rainy day.

A total socialite, he adores other dogs but is also very respectful of those who aren’t interested in playing. Ideally, Tanner’s forever home will have another playful pup who will both keep him company and show him the ropes. ✅ In addition, he’d be okay with kids 5+ and cats who are confident and/or dog savvy.

If you’re interested in making this heartthrob ❤️‍ part of your family, fill out an application at www.browndogcoalition.com!

Marin County, California: After a much needed bath, Bradley is ready for his close-up… and his forever home! Bradley arrived from Tulsa on Monday and this fluffy, goofy 4-year-old Pyrenees mix is already set to make your life 100% cuter and more cuddly. Want to meet him? Call Marin Humane at 415-506-6225!

Oakland, California: Meet Pikachu! She’s a gentle lady who would make a great companion for walks around the neighborhood. But she’s more than just arm candy; this wonderful 8-year-old adores people and would love to hang out with her loving family.

Pikachu has done well in playgroups at the shelter with other gentle/dainty dogs, and will do best as an only dog or with another mellow dog. No high energy adolescent pups for this regal senior girl!

Please consider adopting a senior dog! Pikachu has so much love to give and just asks for a comfortable loving home in return. To adopt Pikachu, visit https://www.oaklandanimalservices.org/adopt/how-to-adopt/#dog!

Atlanta, Georgia: Abilene, 3, needs someone steady and kind.  She is trying really, really hard to be brave, but the world feels much too big to her right now.   Abilene recently came back to PAWS Atlanta after about 6 weeks in her adoptive home because her adopters felt she wasn’t bonding with them in the way they’d hoped she would.

She came to them after being rescued along with many other dogs from the backyard of a suspected animal hoarding situation.   Because of their early experience, Abilene and the others in her group have had minimal socialization and will need extra time to feel comfortable in their new homes.

Her shelter friends know Abilene WILL bond with and love her new people, but she will need patience and a commitment that goes beyond a specific timeframe.

She needs someone who can see her potential, but also understand what she needs right now: stability, patience, and confidence-building.

Abilene feels her best when she is with another, more confident dog.  She would do best in a home with a friendly dog who can teach her the ropes.   Abilene is gentle and sweet and smart.

She’s also quite fearful of new people and situations.  She is still learning to walk on leash and loud noises or sudden movements may startle her.

If you’d like to learn more about Abilene and how to help her, the PAWS adoptions team can talk to you about ways to help her transition into your home and what to expect in that process.

Please complete an application at http://www.pawsatlanta.org/adopt/adoption-process and note you would be interested in meeting Abilene.

Media, Pennsylvania: Well, hello! I’m Kringle, comin’ atcha from the doggy crew at Providence Animal Center!

I am two years old and may, possibly but not definitely, have a slight peanut butter addiction. Maybe.

I have carefully considered all the options, and believe I would like being an only dog, with maybe a nice cat sibling or two. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all dog - which is probably why I don’t see why you would need more than ME!

Bonus: I’m ready to go, as I’m already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

I like to frolic around and run and play, so if you’re looking for a sports buddy, we should be team mates!

To set up a time to meet me or for more information about me, email [email protected] and we will be in touch!

XOXO – Kringle

P.S. Someone is so excited for me to find my home that they have sponsored my adoption fee! That means I can join your family today for FREE! Woohoo!!

Hayward, California: Nena first entered the shelter back in April. After having a home for the first 7 years of her life to now spending so much time in the shelter, she has become quite stressed and is seeking someone somewhere who can give her a routine with some TLC!

She’s the sweetest girl ever, she loves to give kisses, be right by your side, and is a great companion for a stroll.

She is fascinated by the outdoors, knows sit, shake, down, and is food motivated if the treats are tasty enough!

Visit the shelter at 16 Barnes Ct, Hayward CA, or call 510-293-7200 to learn more!

Los Angeles, California: Looking for a sweet, soft, teddy bear-faced senior pup to be your new BFF? Look no further than Javi, who is currently in need of a loving home with a seeing eye human guide.

Javi is visually impaired, but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest even in a shelter setting. Javi is great on leash and is very good at being guided so he doesn’t bump into things. He loves treats and he is a fan of balls .

We would love to see this sweet-faced 9-year-old boy out of the shelter and into a loving home. Wouldn’t you?

1️⃣ Call 888-452-7381 with Javi’s ID # A1985842 & LAAS will share all information available.

2️⃣ If you’re interested in moving forward with the adoption/rescue, LAAS will take your information and complete the adoption paperwork by phone.

3️⃣ LA Animal Services will schedule an appointment for you to meet and bring your new companion home.

*Javi is currently at Chesterfield Sq/ South LA Animal Services Center – 1850 W. 60th St. Los Angeles, CA 90047

Searcy, Arkansas: Baxter is a freckled little meatball and we can’t believe he’s still looking for a home!

Baxter is as sweet as he is chunky and an absolute doll. He has shown great progress with housetraining and will continue to do well with further training. Baxter is a big happy lovable goofball! They love to play with his toys and rough house with other dogs. Baxter is ~5 months old and will be a bigger dog. He has been neutered.
