Little known fact about Jimi Hendrix was that before he made a name for himself as a solo artists, he was studio musician for the likes of Tina Turner, Sam Cooke, the Isley Brothers and Little Richard. Hard to imagine Jimi riffing to the original “Twist & Shout” a few years before the Beatles got around to covering it. Here is the live show that inspired the icon above.

According to Glass Onion, the walrus on the cover of Magical Mystery Tour was Paul when in reality John was the walrus. The song I am the Walrus supposedly was inspired by a school teacher trying to decipher the meaning of a bunch of Beatles lyrics. So John went about trying to make the most lyrically confusing song he possibly could.

Dr. Zaius is of orangutan persuasion. A fine example of what you get when you mix science and religion. Humans should beware in the future of ape leaders such as Zaius. Also a must see is this musical adaptation of Planet of the Apescalled Help Me Dr. Zaius featured in The Simpsons season 7. Got the background from this spoof of the famous Elvis shot (wish I knew who made that)

Today’s icon is a fictional John Oates as depicted in the classic internet show “Yacht Rock”. One of the earliest (and funniest) examples of television made for the web was featured on the ground-breaking Channel 101 and you can still see the show in its entirety here.
