Hiyo! Some of the anatomy studies I’ve still been doing still. Haven’t been posting then online since some of the non-anatomy exercises I’ve been doing are messy and weird :3c

Pecking away at my studies still, if rather slowly. Happy belated New Years! Hope everybody’s holiday season went well.

Phew, sorry for the long break from study posts! Been distracted with some personal stuff lately. Gotta get back into the groove~
Post link
Forearm studies begin~ Going to have to do a lot of these since the forearm muscles are so numerous :B
Post link
Hope everyone had a pleasant holiday/black friday! Back to posting studies. Review of the arm muscles again. Prob going to do some more since I’m rusty
Post link
Thumbnailly photo studies of color, light, and composition. Avoided over-rendering on these so I could do more of them faster. Back to anatomy studies now!
Post link
Sorry for slow updates, took me a long time to collect new brushes, then it took me a lot of erasing to get used to them while doing this study hehe
Post link
Tricep studies begin! Think I’m going to take a break from anatomy with some virtual plein airs after triceps
Post link
More deltoid + upper arm studies. Going to do some more since the inner arm gets a bit confusing sometimes with the nerve bundles. The way the deltoid and the brachialis sit next to each other are also odd. hehe
Post link
Bicep studies begin! Trying to avoid over-rendering on these for now so I can think about the intersections between all of the muscles. Can’t wait till I get up to forearms…exciting
Post link
More deltoid assignment studies with bonus review of the other muscles since I want to know what the deltoids look like in context anyway. I think biceps are next!
Post link
Just about done with the hand exercises for now, I’ll get more practice with them later when painting from life/real people. Black lined ones are sketches from rotated models, and red lined ones are invented from me trying to rotate them in my head
Post link
Getting a bit faster at these now that I’ve worked out a process based on gesture drawings first. I really do need to learn to start with proper gesture drawings heheh
Post link
Back to hand studies~ Going to do some more so I can get used to the perspectives/proportional relationships between the different fingers before moving on. In other news, Happy N7 Day!!!
Post link
Photo study of Amandla Stenberg. When I’m happy about my process and result I’ll try to stop over-rendering x’D. Not satisfied with her hair, need to do more screenshot studies too. Going back to hand anatomy studies now since it’s been a few days already. To be continued…
Post link
Was supposed to be a quick study of facial planes but I got caught up practicing rendering again |D Still trying to think about how I’m going to approach hair in the future. I was going to post all 4 together but these two took too long LOL, going to work on the others now
Post link
Did the preliminary sketches of all of the portraits I want to do~ Going to practice painting and rendering them now, might take a day or two to finish if I have a hard time. Happy spooky day!!
Post link
Wish I could say that this was getting easier but every box in perspective is a new adventureThey’re a bit too even unfortunately I think, going to work on that. Going to do some face painting studies before going back to hands ~
Post link
Making sure the perspective lines are parallel and line up is a lot of work… `-` But it’s also satisfying in a way, I really want to get better at drawing hands and I think this helps a lot. They are certainly very boxy sometimes

I normally like to draw the models myself and then overlay the bones on them but at this point I’ve drawn these same pictures so many times that I think I’m just going to focus on drawing the bones the way proko says I should in the assignment, haha. Really hard as it is…the ulna and radius have slight curves that are very irregular and not symmetrical at all so this is pushing my visualization skills to the limit. They’re not perfect but it’s slowly getting easier
Post link
Preliminary arm bone studies! I started to do proko’s assignments but decided I wanted to do solo studies of the bones before I drew them over people just so I’d get used to the forms of them first. Now it’s draw them over people time ꈍꈊꈍ

Yet more neck studies. The two in greyscale are uh…mistakes. I chose really low res photos and had a really hard time identifying their colors lol ;-;… Back to proko studies! Time to learn about arms!! Exciting
Post link
More neck and skin practice \o/ Gonna do a few more, might take a day or two depending on how hard of a time I have with them since I’m trying some different lighting scenarios
Post link
Back to neck studies since I’d like to practice the variations depending on position of the head. Spent some time experimenting with skin painting again as well~

More Annihilation color/comp studies. Such a tasty movie. If anyone has other movies with similar pretty color palettes and lights to suggest please do, I need more to study and I really can’t think of any off the top of my head atm, it’s been a while since I watched. Now that I’ve gotten some of the itch to color out of my system…back to anatomy studies.

More lighting/comp studies from Annihilation (2018) because I love the lighting ~ I actually didn’t see the movie but I did read the Southern Reach trilogy. SUCH a good series of books, and the revelation about what the organism was at the end was so cool.
Post link
Composition studies that ended up turning into color/light studies instead hehe. Top studies are from the movie Annihilation, bottom studies are referenced from photos a cool dude named Joel took in an art discord I’m in. Doing them as thumbnails so I can do more of them without overrendering
