Ruminate- ru·mi·nate

Cows spend about 8 hours a day ruminating- rechewing the food they already ate to help digestion. That is a lot of time to review everything they’ve eaten

It’s a good reminder that we should also ruminate. Slow down and savor the things we have to fully feel and be present in the moment. Realize our blessings and savor everything

REVIEW: Conor Oberst at Thalia Hall

Hooligan writer Katie Burke reviews the sold out Conor Oberst show at Thalia Hall with a unique view on the energy you feel after seeing an artist you grew up listening to live.

“I think that the cuts you feel when he sings is reason enough to understand that talent is completely relative. As always, Conor displayed his ability to tell stories. He remained at the piano for the first three songs. One of them being “Gossamer Thin”, a song that sounds like escape. His back was turned toward the crowd while he alternated between the harmonica and sweeping the keys. The songs off Ruminations felt lonely in a way that was different from his other work. Without much musical accompaniment (there was one other bassist) the lyrics were allowed to take control. Each song began to feel more and more like an extended poem.”

Im fuckign ceryin

I wish i wasnt in love with you

I wish it so hard i almost wish i didnt love you at all

Ive lived so long without realizing this fracture in my heart was there because i never got over you

But after talking with the fourth horseman and seeing you in passing in a dream

It hurts again

How does a person go to class with a broken heart

How could a person go to work with a broken heart

Even if it’s just a little broken

It feels so awful, hurts so much

“Growing up is so much worse than anyone could ever warned about”
