Can’t argue with that.
The 1963 Civic Trust booklet Shop Front takes a rather dim view of “too much” advertising. Some of these examples are just splendid though.

I thought you might like to see the exciting new aluminium bookstall, unveiled by WH Smith at Marylebone station in 1949. it was supposed to be the forerunner of many, but how long it lasted or if any other similarly shiny WHS shops appeared, I do not know.

The Civic Trust produced this guide to shopfront design in 1963, trying to determine “what is good and what is bad”. They definitely didn’t like an abundance of signage…
