I was in New York very recently and spotted this lovely sign on Columbia Avenue and 72nd. Seemingly a relic of bygone era. I initially assumed it was pre-war, however looking at the containing frame suggests it’s a bit more recent. Indeed after a little googling, I found a blog post on the subject of this very sign right here. The comments suggest it actually dates back to the mid-70′s.
Whatever the case, It’s still a lovely piece of lettering set in stained glass. See if you can find it if you visit the Upper West Side.
