“She calls it ‘Arctic femininity’ and it’s defining characteristic, so far as I can gather, is unapologetic competence. “Extreme toughness”—that word again—“and ability, and also a celebration of femininity,” Blair says.

Imagine the latter not being in conflict with the former. Imagine not just womanhood, but the refusal to hide it not being thought anathema to skill.”

One of the first days I forgot I was sick.

It’s really hard after a life-changing moment, good or bad. Being diagnosed with a chronic illness really threw me a curve ball. There was always a possibility of Lupus because my grandmas had it, but I never expected an IBD. I would wake up, a couple seconds would go by, then I’d remember. It felt like a nightmare.

This winter day had been a couple months after being diagnosed after a flare & bout with pancreatitis. My body was so weak from not being able to do anything. Literally, nothing. LOL. The muscle I had built from getting in a workout routine: GONE. C’mon muscle atrophy. Being in the beginning of most things are wild because it’s hard to slow down & really process since the emotions are running wild.

This was one of the first days I had enough energy to walk around the woods & down to grandma’s with the kids. It didn’t even feel like it was under 10 degrees. And normally I’m the boring one that just watches everyone have fun & take pictures. But they insisted I got down, & Kenzie snapped this pic of me. I don’t have many of myself, but this is a good one. A moment that reminded me it’ll get better.

I saw this post (http://chrawrizards.tumblr.com/post/82662719237/asktheundeadroyals-15-seconds-of-all-the-songs) about syncing a bunch of different songs to this “Frozen” gif:

Whilst listening to the audio clips of various songs in that post, I thought of a different song that would sync well with the gif. The music from the part in “Super Mario Bros.: The Movie” when Mario and a handful of kidnapped women escape captivity by sliding through frozen pipes. The name of the song is “Speed of Light” by Joe Satriani
