Being a Trans woman complicates everybsingle social interaction 1000% and there’s no way to explain this to cis people.

Literally every single aspect, legitimately. Going out for groceries, applying for jobs, working your job, everything. And you try to explain this and I usually hear back something along the lones of “well fuck em! They dint matter u just gotta be u!!1!1” and like yes, sure totally in theory, you’re so right, but in the real world where people have very bigoted and violent prejudices,,, when almost every1 u interact w/ looks like they’re about to burst ot laughing @ u, when people just look so straight up grossed out by you,,,,,like shit it gets so fucking rough and it’s every day

It’s so bad most of us avoid going out at least part of the time if not most

That’s true, when I first started getting involved with the Trans community I was surprised by how many people just stayed at home all the time, but now that’s how I am, I hate being outside my apartment with strangers staring at me.

How To Stop Sweating On A Dance Floor

Perfect hair, perfect make up, smooth tan and a perfect outfit. Now pray it won’t be too hot so you don’t start sweating! Did you ever worry not to dance too much so that you don’t destroy your look? This article will give you some ideas on how to deal with sweating at a competition or one of your social dance evenings.

You watch top professional and they look perfect from start to finish. They somehow don’t seem to sweat. Well, every dancer sweats but some more than others. In general perspiration is a good thing because it helps to cool down our bodies but we all wish we didn’t sweat at all, right?

It is individual how much everyone sweats and I am one who in fact sweats a lot when dancing. Throughout my dancing, it has always been a nightmare but I discovered different ways to deal with it. Here they are:

1. Face Creams

Use light, water-based creams on your face. They form a layer on your skin allowing it to “breathe” more. Here is a list of some moisturizers you may want to try.

2. Cooling down your feet

In between rounds start cooling off your feet first. Take your shoes and socks off and find a cold non-carpeted floor to rest your feet on. You may notice that when your feet are cold, the rest of the body will cool down faster too. Just make sure you have enough time to do it

When you buy socks, always get those that are made from 100% natural fibres. It makes a small difference but every little helps.

3. Antiperspirant vs. Deodorant

Use antiperspirants instead of deodorants. Did you know there is a difference? Well, deodorants only mask the smell but nothing else. Antiperspirants on the other hand are supposed to reduce how much you sweat (these with aluminium chloride do).

4. Change Your Shirts Frequently

Bring a spare shirt with you to a social event. When you feel your top is getting too sticky, go and change it. You will feel fresh again.

5. Stamina Practice

If you feel you start sweating straight after you started to dance, then maybe your body also needs more practice. In preparation for competitions make sure you get your stamina up to scratch and practice your “finals” full out. This way your body will get used to the hard work. Check out the article I wrote on type of finals you can practice.

6. Medicated Antiperspirant

There is one product which is widely used for the treatment of excessive sweating on feet, palms and underarms. It literally stops you from sweating wherever you apply it. The product contains Aluminium Chloride Hexahydrate at variable strengths (usually 20%) (Anhydrol Forte, Odaban or Driclor). I already recommended it to many dancers and it literally changed their lives. “Imagine no more sweaty stains under your arms and destroying expensive dresses or shirts with other antiperspirants and no more sweaty palms” However, before you use it, read patient information leaflet.

Ballroom dancing can be a highly energy demanding activity so you are just bound to sweat. You and your dance partner should understand it and never make fun of it. However, most importantly – NEVER dance less because you are worried you sweat too much!

If you liked this post, please share it on Facebook or Twitter because there are many dancers who are very self-conscious when it comes to sweating.

Why Your Instructor Doesn’t Go Out Dancing

Sometimes you might find it strange and frustrating, why your pro (or any pro you know) being a good dancer, does not go out dancing? Well, let’s read on for a few good reasons:

It’s… extra WORK

Let’s say, you’re Peter Gibbons from Office Space. While you enjoy your co-workers, Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar, and would love to go out for a… beer with them, you would not enjoy doing TPS reports with them after hours. As much as ballroom dance instructors love their jobs and the dancing that it entails, it is still WORK.

It Might Not Be As Fun

Let’s say you’re Scott Hastings from Strictly Ballroom. While your partner, Pam Short, is a often an emotional mess, she plays the game well and puts up with your antics to a certain extent.  Dancing with Fran, the available but introverted beginner with a heart of gold, is not your idea of fun, it just seems like more “no new steps”. Social dancing with beginners, who are sometimes looking for tips and feedback, is not as fun as just dancing, when that’s what an instructor came to do.

Change of Scenery

Let’s say you’re Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. You’re in The Arena and every move you make is being carefully scrutinized, politicized, and analyzed, not to mention that whole life-or-death thing.  Those archery skills you have sure come in handy, but damn it, you’d rather be hunting outside District 12, where no one really cares how and what you’re shooting. Being a professional ballroomer is stressful, since they’re always being judged.  Even when they go out dancing, people are watching pros (and often expecting a show), and sometimes they just want to dance in close hold and do 72 “slows” in a row.

Body

Let’s say you’re Miles Dyson (the brilliant cybernetics scientist) from The Terminator… STAY WITH ME. You create something that will become Skynet (you know, the killer AI that wants to wipe out humanity) and you really don’t expect your hard work to turn against you. But sometimes your work, or your colleagues’ work or spontaneously created AI, will turn against you. As someone who needs their body in relatively good working condition, going social dancing can be perilous. On the lady-pro side, some leads want to try their craziest moves on you, even if they don’t know how to lead them, and wrench your limbs around to complete their glorious steps. On the man-pro side, some follows want you to lead them in pivots and continuous underarm turns and dips, even if they have three ankle braces and vertigo.

Doing Sweet “Nothing”

Lastly, let’s say you’re Phil from Groundhog Day (not Punxsutawney, but Bill Murray’s character). Every day, you wake up to the same ol’ grind and you’re pretty exhausted by trying to improve that grind every day. Practicing for the next comp, show, exam before and/or after teaching is a full-time gig and at the end of the day, an instructor just wants to put their feet up like anybody else.

the alt-right pipeline is a real and dangerous thing that i think needs more awareness. here’s some videos that can help you learn about it
