Sicilys little villages are just full of barock and gothlike churches. Every single building has its own charm, beauty and sense of mystery. But as you walk along narrow alleys and pass a new church every corner you can´t help wondereing WHY so many?
It´s like somebody popped the question “What are we going to do today?” And everybody shouted, “Lets build a new church!”
Im not religious, I am more - let´s say spiritual instead.Still, I love religion, it fascinates me - alot.
I often enter churches whenever I pass them. Some has mystery, others peace, some gives a sense of hope, while others, like the Sicilian ones, only bring me a sense of guilt. No offence, it´s just my own humble opinion and what I felt in every single church I entered. They were dark and there was pain in every icon, painting and statue I laid my eyes on. I guess they have their reasons though.
I found this beautiful old lady in one of these churches. She looked so fragile while she prayed and kept her rosary in constant motion. I wished that I could´ve heard her prayers…

At first sight the pulse on this particular street was mindblowing.
But something was wrong. It was fabricated, false.
Smiles and laughter combined with sad eyes.
Girls, some of them way too young, wiggled their bottoms like toy robots low on battery.
I drank my beer fast, this was an experience I could be without. I took this shot and left for the beach where local families was preparing dinner accompanied by real laughter and smiles as the sun set over the warm Andaman Sea…
