I really like how the Master Emerald work in the movie canon
Tbh with you, when I first watch the games, I thought that’s actually how you create a Master Emerald; by combining the seven Chaos Emeralds into one. That makes more sense, right? If one Chaos Emerald is enough to teleport you to everywhere you want, stopping time, and even travel through time, then what’s the point of Master Emerald? Chaos Emeralds are already too powerful.
In fact, what isthe power of Master Emerald (in game)? Did they explain it somewhere, maybe in comics? I only watch Sonic games on youtube, and I know the first few games don’t tell their story in the game itself and we have to read it on a guidebook thingy, so I might miss a context here and there
Oh, I also love how the Master Emerald is actually not that humongous. And Chaos Emeralds are so tiny! You can still dish out a, idk, Chaos-powered punch or something without having to hold the stone in your hand. Just put it in your pocket or slot it in your bandana or bracelet and voila
(Wait. That’s actually a good idea for Shadows movie design. One of the Chaos Emerald inside his wrist rings or shoes. Hmmmm…)

In an interview with Insider,Sonic the Hedgehog 2 producer Jeff Fowler commented on the inclusion of Shadow in the third movie and his “vision for incorporating Shadow into future films.”
Noted Fowler, “However [Shadow]’s handled in the films, we all know how much fans love this character, love his backstory. It’s what makes him prolific, and so we would be very respectful of all of that.”
sonic has physically grown between the 1st and 2nd movies.
i completely didn’t notice at all in the first, but on my rewatch, as tom dropped down to sonic’s knees i realized he wasn’t. puny anymore.
in the 1st he’s only up to tom and maddie’s knees. by the 2nd, he’s doubled in size. hes also lost a bit of face chub since the second movie. it’s subtle, but it’s there.
when sitting, he used to reach just up to their waists. now he’s able up to their shoulders and is able to lean on them, as we saw in the final battle of sonic 2
his frame and body have gotten bigger. we’re seeing him grow up.
My absolute favorite fact about the writing process for Sonic 2 is that because of how particular SEGA is over the handling of Super Sonic the writers had no idea if the chili dog summoning joke would fly so they went out of their way to run by SEGA first and the response they got was basically just “yeah sure”
Now that’s been a month since Sonic Movie 2 was released, I can finally post this: FUCKING MOVIE!SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG, BABY!!
I have been waiting A LOT to post something related to Movie!Shadow ever since I saw him in the post credit scene! Who else is excited to see him in the next movie? ✨
I’ve been thinking about this. I think that Paramount, due to being a Hollywood studio, maybe has more creative freedom on what they can do? They gave Sonic a backstory, they showed parents for Knuckles, a game character, and now they’re using the name “Mobius”. These are all mandates that the comic was not allowed to do after the reboot and in IDW as well. Curious!
I plan to see the movie very soon, but meanwhile, here’s Eggman with his Master Emerald Powered Form, Chaos Eggman as they call him ! ( Sorry if this is a surprise for you, but it was in the trailer ^^’ …)
Anyway, so far, it’s one of the first time we see Eggman applying the power of the Emerald directly on himself ! ( I mean, AOSTH and Fleetway aside ), this and the comedy of Jim Carrey, once again, all this combined might be an interesting take on the character.
