happy birthday Alex!!!!! he wanted this chick named Lana from Southern Cross who apparently only has two decent reference pics on all of the Internet. i hope this is suitably 80s-robot-anime!!!

Love it. I suspect her friend Alex isn’t a Robotech fan, otherwise he would’ve directed her to reference pics of ’Nova Satori’ as well? I dunno, both the original program and the Rt remix are cool in my book; to each their own. Anyway, fantastic work, D. Marie!

The funeral of General Rolf Emerson Supreme Commander Leonard, followed(briefly) by Emerson’s memorial. (Thanks for the correction, Tom!) If you even slightly dig the second generation of ROBOTECH, you must watch this. I freely admit that the last image brought out the tears. Kudos, guys.

For more ROBOTECH goodness by the team responsible go visit the Robotech Visions Facebook page here.

(Concept by Dennis Bateman. Directed by Thomas Bateman. Artwork by Christian Kaw. Edited by Rick Quitoriano. Music from Hans Zimmer.)

I didn’t quite cry, but I did get goosebumps. Had the video lingered on Emerson’s funeral a few moments longer though…

Art from the cover of Streamline Pictures’s Robotech Perfect Collection: Southern Cross Volume 2.

More ROBOTECH artwork that’s fallen down the memory hole. Based on style and vintage this looks to have similar origins to the LD artwork I’ve been showcasing the past couple of weeks. My favorite element: the glaring Robotech Master eye in space above Bowie and Musica’s heads. Trescreepy.

One in a series of Robotech-original pieces that the Cap’s been sharing at his tumblr the last couple weeks. Hop over to see the others, w historical & artistic context. Very interesting.

And here’s my third Robotech AMV, set to Lita Ford’s “War of the Angels” — Dana Sterling, “Wars’ Daughter.”

I’m really proud of this one. Synthesizes the reflective quality of “Rook et Rose” w/ the emotional verve of “Macross: Reconstruction” (at least, that’s the intent). Dana’s my favorite Rt character, and Lita’s BLACK album is an overlooked roots-metal-glam potpourri.

Enjoy ~ EhC

I’m in the midst of a Battlestar Galactica v2 rewatch (the best Robotech live-action series never made) and realized…

The Logan can be cool after all(!).

(Ten years on, and I’m just now noticing the Raptor-Logan similarity… Duh,me.)

Say hello to the VF-7 Sylphide, a Veritech Fighter design inspired by the non-transformable Southern Cross fighter of the same name that, at one point in the Robotech Masters episodes of the TV series is referred to as a Veritech — hence this long-standing notion that it must actually be a Veritech, culminating in this art commission by ROBOTECH comic book artist Greg Lane. This is, in fact, the Battloid that appears in the Robotech Visions piece that inspired this tour. […]

Very cool. One in a series of fetishistic transforming-Robotech-plane design exercises the Cap’s been sharing. Here are a couple others, with JLS’s always solid commentary - Delta Fighter&Gamma Fighter

Southern Cross

Performed by Crosby, Stills and Nash

Written by Stephen Stills, Rick Curtis and Michael Curtis

You hear that?  More specifically, do you not hear that?  That whining sound… It’s not there.  It’s CS&N, not CSN&Y.  That’s it.  They sound so much better without the Y.

Beautiful harmonies are how CS&N made their reputation.  The leftovers from the Hollies, Buffalo Springfield, and the Byrds (all bands known for harmonies in their own right), formed this amazing sounding super group.

And super they were.  It turns out, the guys play instruments sometimes, but that’s not what you go to CS&N for.  The voices… Goodness me, the voices.

And this song in particular.  Stills takes the “stone” brought to him by the Curtis brothers, cuts and polishes it and creates this gem.

Sailing away from your troubles.  How manly is that?  Super manly.  He left his lady behind… Or possibly, she left him, and then he sailed southeast and just marveled at the stars.

This one tends to make me tear up a bit.  But it rarely fails to make “Mood of the Day” lists of mine when I want to build playlists for a day or so.

Lyrics:

Got out of town on a boat goin’ to Southern islands
Sailing a reach before a followin’ sea
She was makin’ for the trades on the outside
And the downhill run to Papeete

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas
We got eighty feet of the waterline nicely making way
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away

Think about
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin’
What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten

(Around the world) I have been around the world
(Lookin’) Lookin’ for that woman girl
(Who knows she knows) Who knows love can endure
And you know it will

When you see the Southern Cross for the first time
You understand now why you came this way
Cause the truth you might be runnin’ from is so small
But it’s as big as the promise, the promise of a comin’ day

So I’m sailing for tomorrow my dreams are a dyin’
And my love is an anchor tied to you tied with a silver chain
I have my ship and all her flags are a’ flyin’
She is all that I have left and music is her name

Think about
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin’
What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten

(I’ve been around the world) I have been around the world
(Lookin’) Lookin’ for that woman girl
Who knows love can endure
And you know it will, and you know it will yes

So we cheated and we lied and we tested
And we never failed to fail it was the easiest thing to do
You will survive being bested
Somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you

And the southern cross

I’m surprised / amazed that this is Macross, Southern Cross, Mospeada!

If you think it’s an American comic that you saw somewhere, I think it’s “Genesis Climber Mospeada” “Super Dimension Southern Cross” and “Super Dimension Fortress Macross”.  However, it is unthinkable in Japan but it is common in the United States that these three books are the same as “Robotech” series “Macross Saga edition” “Masters edition” “New Generation edition”. That’s right (by the way, the US title “Space Wars”(Star Wars?), also known as “Gatchaman”). Inquiries from adult Japanese anime fans in the United States do not understand the story well. $1.50 each.

Happy new year! I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2021 ✨

In this starry panorama streching across deep southern skies the South Celestial Pole is between the 2 bright galaxies and southern celestial gems. Across the top of the frame are the stars and nebulae along the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy. Gamma Crucis, a yellowish giant star heads the Southern Cross near the top center. Eta Carinae and the reddish glow of the Great Carina Nebula shine along the galactic plane near the right edge. At the bottom are the Large and Small Magellanic clouds, external galaxies in their own right and satellites of the mighty Milky Way.
