Today is an important day for this blogger. I haven’t made a birthday post for my SUPREME BIAS (and in Yoongi’s own words, I want to throw myself away) from this blog yet because sOMEhOW I always end up missing my shot (although I have celebrated #SugaDay every year by myself and coincidentally my dad got me Kumamnon merch once and I hadn’t even asked for it) But this sis is finally getting her shit together in life, and that includes me writing my heart out today. This will be the first. And this post will habitually be reblogged every year until I die.

Min Yoongi.

I can’t even begin to list my feelings out for you. It’s a lot, I’ll tell you that much. There’s something that connects me spiritually and emotionally to your soul in such a way that I can’t even put my finger on it. Frankly speaking, I am you. I’m literally you. Most of the things you say, the things you do, your thoughts and actions are so relatable to me, and I know for a fact that I’m not the only one who thinks that. There are so many of us. It’s so personal I’m already running out of words smh I need a second

Alright. Phew.

Min Yoongi.

You have been able to touch everyone’s innermost conscience, the deepest parts of their hearts, the depths of their souls with every word you put on paper, every word you type and every word you say. And although language can be a barrier sometimes, you blur that line between you and us so effortlessly. It seems like every song you are a part of, whether it be in terms of writing, producing or performing, tells a story that everyone can somehow relate to you personally even if they haven’t been through that exact situation. Sometimes it’s not even the words, it’s the music you compose that evokes the realest feelings within us listeners, enough to make them emotional, realize, and come into terms with the reality of life. It’s that blatant, unfiltered, raw truth in your words, whether it be through your music, interviews, tweets, livestreams or variety shows. You always say things that hit right in the feels. Sometimes its even in the little silly jokes you make. It’s something you oh-so-effortlessly state, sometimes even unintentionally.

In this world of lies, speaking the truth is revolutionary. Youare revolutionary.

Reality is a word synonymous with you whenever I think of you, along with the word Dream. (coincidentally, the 9th track from his Agust D mixtape is titled ‘Interlude ; Dream, Reality’ hehe) The way you went from having almost nothing but a big heart and a bag full of dreams to holding the world at the palm of your hands not only inspiredme, but hundreds and thousands of people across the world of every color, race and gender to ever exist. Your utter dedication to fulfilling your dreams, the way you always push yourself to the limit with hard work and practice, spending unending hours creating and developing your skills, perfecting choreography, producing music and writing songs, showed every single person looking at you that you can do whatever you set your mind to. The sheer amount of effort and energy you put into your work, that unstoppable drive you have to succeed in life and prove everyone wrong is simplyunbelievable, and yet, you still show us that it can be done, no matter how hard it is.

You’re the living proof, the prime example ofpassion. Harriet Tubman once said, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

That, is you.

This is precisely why you’re the most relatable idol in the industry.

Your early life was full of hardship, depression, anxiety and a lot of pain. Born to a poor family, with the passion for music and music alone. You didn’t give up on your dream on pursuing music even despite your family’s opposition. You were forced to work multiple jobs to survive, attempting to sell your music in the streets, being scammed out of your money. You had to make a choice more than once to either eat or take the bus and even more often, going hungry. You continued to work while being a trainee at the once small BigHit agency, and even endured a hit-and-run accident that completely damaged your shoulder, which you kept a secret from everyone in order to secure your career, something that still affects motion on your shoulder to this day and even affected B-Boying. In addition to that physical pain, you suffered mentally and emotionally throughout your childhood up until debut and even after debut.

But you turned your life around.

Today, you’re one of the best rappers of your era and even in the entire K-Pop industry. You’re a recognized producer in the Korean Copyright Music Association. You’re single-handedly one of the most outspoken idols in Korea about LGBTQIA+ rights and mental health, which are two extremely taboo topics in South Korean society and in Asia in general. You’re one of the coveted members of arguably the world’s biggest boy band at the moment. You have never held back in talking about real-time issues through your music, like society and life. You bring forward thought-provoking lyrics continuing to push listeners minds to see the different aspects of issues that exist in the world and in oneself. Today you are inspiring people around the world, changing people’s lives, especially people who are battling mental health issues.

You are a role model.

We have watched you grow over these past years.

We have watched you tackle each hurdle life placed before you and overcome your own fears & insecurities.

We have watched you become the best version of yourself that you could possibly be.

We know that you and the other members are only human just like the rest of us with flaws and blemishes. But with your selfless compassion, appreciation, determination, drive, hard work, selflessness, gratefulness and your adoration for us, your fans, show us that you’re one of the few wholesome beings on this flawed planet of Earth. You give us a reason to dream, to aspire, to reach for the stars and be someone worthwhile of our time on this universe. You’re a role model to countless people across the world, no matter the age or race. You helped, are helping and will help so many different types of people as long as you live and beyond the end of time. You are showing to the world why we as ARMY have stood by you all this time and have fought to help you be who you are today, to get this far, to achieve the heights of success. Words cannot even begin to describe the love, appreciation and respect we have for you. We owe you so much for affecting each one of our lives in so may ways and helped so many of us to overcome our own battles with mental health, fear, insecurity, confidence, acceptance and self-love.

Thank you for saving our lives.

Don’tever stop that flaming passion you have for music. That’s how you reached so many of our hearts in different parts of this endless world. Don’t ever stop saying the truth like it is. Don’t ever stop letting people believe to keep dreaming. And don’t eventryto stop sharing yourself through your music.

Thank you for all your hard work. You deserve the universe and nothing lesser than the universe. Always know that ARMY is here for you and the members, and we will always stand by your side no matter what your decisions may be. The only thing we care about, is your happiness.

An inspiration.

Ourbiggestinspiration.

The man who spits fire when he’s on that stage, but has a ‘soft blanket’ scented Yankee candle in his studio.

The man that looks cold and hard on the outside, but is the sweetest, most caring person on the inside.

The man who shared the struggles of his life through his music, but also threw a waterproof camera in the pool to double check if it was actually ‘waterproof’.

The man who produces the sickest beats known to the entire music industry, but also licks bath bombs just because.

The sweet boy who once felt insecure about life, but now is a man living his dream, being the person he always wanted to be.

The man who wants to be reincarnated as a rock in his next life.

The man who steals other members’ underwear to assert dominance.

The man named after the basketball position he was passionate about playing he was younger.

The man with the smile and laugh that can end wars.

Thank you.

Happy Birthday.

We love you so much.

Thank you for existing.

Thank you for making this world a better place.

Thank you for giving us songs that are the musical equivalent of a warm hug, of comfort, of healing.

I hope you’re happy:
