It’s not uncommon within the realms of DID, OSDD1, DDNOS and UDD to switch multiple times a day, even multiple times an hour.

It’s also not uncommon within these realms to switch only once every few days or weeks or months.

And it’s fairly common for it to vary and change over time; you’re not faking if you switch often, nor if you switch rarely, nor if it changes.

I think we actually need more stories about systems killing people but just not from singlets

The opportunity to reclaim that narrative is so insane

  • Conflict story between host who doesn’t want to kill an abuser/someone bad for moral reasons and their headmate ultimately does it themself but the one portrayed as in the wrong is the host because it’s unhealthy not to murder in self defense (and being abused sure as hell is something to defend)
  • System demonized so much they decide to just become a serial killer anyway. Victims include singlets who make one too many jabs at them about how scary and dangerous they are. The idea of a revenge story against pluralphobes is reallly nice actually i think it would be satisfying (do i think ppl deserve to be murdered for pluralphobic microagressions? No i don’t but i also think this would be cathartic in a fictional sense..also would make singlets so mad lol)
  • There is an evil alter but it’s not the one committing murder actually they had nothing to do with that they were too busy in world being evil
  • Opposite of those bullshit stories of criminals using the DID excuse. System on trial and switching out and having memory problems and trying so goddamn hard to stay coherent also trying to figure out which one of them comitted the crime and do they not remember it because they’re innocent or is it because of their amnesia etc

And that’s just off the top of my head

Just a quick question out of curiosity.

Is it possible for some one with DID to have one of their alters fall in love with someone, but their main personality doesn’t at all???

If so what would happen???

Would the Alter just have to give up their love or.????

Firstly, to clear up some things about terminology (I promise I’ll answer your question after this): Everyone in a DID system is an alter, including the “main personality,” who is usually called the “host” of that system. The host is usually the one who makes sure everyday things get done. Non-host alters also don’t “belong” to the host, we’re our own people.

That said, yeah, that’s totally possible! One alter may have feelings of any sort for someone that the host doesn’t return, but that doesn’t always mean they have to abandon those feelings if they’re looking for a relationship. Why that may be can vary, but there’s lots of instances where feelings may not be shared throughout a system, but there can still be a healthy relationship. Relationships are complicated as a system, but the whole system or even the host doesn’t need to reciprocate those feelings for a healthy, honest relationship

Friendly reminder:

inner world business is not YOUR business. Unless specifically asking for advice or comments, how alters feel and interact with each other is literally no ones business

We have discovered something that we would like to share to help the on go in discourse with being Endogenic. Science is still growing daily and now I have proof that even researchers have realized that trauma based systems are the only ones out there. It is important to state that both of the medical research links admit that more research needs to be done on the “plural phenomenon” they both admit that non-traumagic systems are out there and are valid.

Please use these links as you will.

Neither of these are proof?

The first article interviewed only six people and provides no scientific proof. It had no formal questionnaire, was limited by size and access, limited by the ability to speak to family members, limited assessment of their lives, medical/trauma history, and supposed functionality– it was basically just entirely limited and proves nothing beyond, “these people say they exist, and it should be studied more.” The acknowledgment of people saying they exist doesn’t mean they are valid or correct, or that they’re not mistaking their symptoms for something else.

It relies solely on self reporting and informal interviews. It provides no differentials, no possible causes, was limited to blogs– it was sort of a waste. It actually even seems to go so far as to imply that the existence of this community on the internet is harmful and reinforces these beliefs and behaviors, and furthers unhealthy dissociative barriers.

Overall, not a good article to support the existence of endogenic systems, and by no means validating or scientific in nature. It’s a preliminary article calling for more research.

Still, it’s not as bad as the second article you link. The second article doesn’t actually support the existence of endogenics at all. First, it’s outdated, referring only to The DSM IV, and it seems to forget that DDNOS was a possible diagnosis. It also bases most of its claims on Astraea’s Web.

This article is no good for your claim of endogenic based on one, single line.

Considering endogenic systems make the claim of having no trauma history, this article in no way supports their existence. It’s more about whether you can be considered functional with DID, and why there’s a difference between dissociation levels of the disordered and non-disordered group, when they both stem from trauma.

There’s really only one other thing to say about this article, and it’s that Astaea’s Web isn’t something you want to be aligning yourself with. The multiples of that time and community basically had a superiority complex, rejecting the DID diagnosis and saying that they didn’t want to be considered disordered– not that they were without trauma. It’s actually highly offensive how they viewed those with DID compared to themselves.

subsystems:

Is there scientific evidence of DID beyond self-reported symptoms? Yes! There’s a lot, actually! Let’s go over the most exciting ones.

DID has biomarkers in the brain! This means that DID changes the brain structure and this has been observed through neuroimaging [1].

These structural changes and neural networks in the brain are very similar but also distinguishable from PTSD [2]! This supports the leading theory that DID is on a continuum with PTSD.

An algorithm was able to spot the difference between healthy brains and brains with DID with up to 73% accuracy (which is significantly higher than what was expected) [3].

Alters have also been observed through neuroimaging! When a DID system switches, different alters activate different neural networks. Even in studies where multiple brain scans were done months apart, the same alters still activated the same neural networks[4].

We have scanned the brains of both people with DID and healthy people instructed to “roleplay” DID and found that the healthy people do not show the same neural networks when roleplaying alters [5].

What this all means: DID is real. I don’t think anyone following my blog doubts that, but having this info is important in spreading awareness and combatting stigma (especially the stigma in the psychiatric field). DID is not something that people are just reporting to experience, it has an observable and distinct impact in the brain.
