ANYA:I don’t understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she’s, there’s just a body, and I don’t understand why she just can’t get back in it and not be dead anymore. It’s stupid. It’s mortal and stupid. And, and Xander’s crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch ever, and she’ll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why.

Into me / out of me is about the imagined, descriptive, and performative acts of the passing into, through and out of the human body. This book focuses on the primordial relationship between the internal, and the external : metabolism (eating, drinking, excreting), reproducing (intercourse, birth), and violence(shooting, impaling, perforation). Into me/out of me brings together explorations and visualizations of these three processes, which deal with the wet and the dry, the inner and the outer surfaces of the body, and the material world.

Spanning over 40 years and featuring an international group of more than 130 artists, Into me/out of me employs a wide range of media to illuminate the literal and metaphorical ways that humans interact with each other and material matter. These daily exchanges are presented within the frameworks of natural science, historical and mythological confrontations, ritualistic practices and self-exploration.

[Image description: a coloured drawing of characters from the Locked Tomb series.

The left side is labeled ‘If It’s Harrow’ and shows Gideon in Harrowharks body climbing Harrow in Gideon’s body with her sword in hand and a tear running down her cheek, saying:

“Oh thank fuck, you crazy, evil bitch I am so angry with you and you’re fuckin’ paper skin and glass bones and scrawny necro arms and also I’m so fucking glad you’re not just gone, never do this to me again and also did you like having my muscles you better have taken better care of them than my fucking sword I fucking hate you and I’m never letting go of you ever, ever a-fucking-gain.”

The right side is labeled 'If It’s the Body’, and shows the Body in Gideon’s body with a sword through her midsection, holding back a furious Gideon in Harrow’s body with one hand. Gideon is saying:

“You creepy, meat-napping, cockblocking corpse fuck if my adept’s stupid wrists weren’t so fuckin’ flimsy I’d sock you right in my beautiful, apparently immortal face!”

Camilla is reaching out to Gideon with a tired expression, saying “Nav, please.” while a skeletal hand with little glasses is clinging to Gideon’s ankle. End description]

On July 23rd of every year, the town of Brownsville, OR (used as the filming location of Castle Rock) hosts “Stand By Me Day!” The celebration features guided tours of shooting locations throughout the town, a blueberry pie eating contest, and a replica of the boys’ tree house.

“Any of you guys know when the next train is due?”

Ever wondered about the reference Gordie makes to the time Chris saved Teddy in the tree? “The Body” gives us the backstory!

“It happened in the summer of 1959, a long time ago, but only if you measure in terms of years.”

“Yeah, yeah. We can even be on TV!” - “Sure!” - “We’ll be heroes!” - “Yeah!”

“You’re gunna have to kill me, Ace.”

A “family” film.

Tell me what I can take

                              away from this forgetting, why
I overlook my body, latching
onto the blues the nighttime makes,

how I avoid the light, my past,
                                  and disappear into the grass.

Stephanie Rogers, from “Fat Girl Trilonnet,” Fat Girl Forms

Watch the body bend and curve watch it shutter watch the body an endless aching fire giving twin souls back to soil

dustseeker:

I open myself
and light pours out.

I didn’t know about
all this light

in my guts:
contained / hidden

in the dark gore of
intestines /

in the blood
that breaks the day.
