He furrows his brows and takes a moment to process the question. “I shouldn’t.”
“And why not Prince Zuko?”
“Her real family should name her.” Zuko says after a few moments. “Whoever they will be.”
Uncle looks at him with something Zuko can’t decipher. “You saved her, did you not? Both her life and her future. If anyone deserves that honor nephew, it is you.”
When Zuko encounters Aang and Katara in the Ba Sing Se catacombs, he makes a vastly different choice. What they don’t realize however, is that he’s not just fighting for himself anymore.
With no other choice, Zuko brings his new daughter back to the homeland he hasn’t seen in years. He only hopes he can keep her safe as the gang moves through enemy territory.
The last thing he remembers is being struck by Azula’s lightning on the fateful day of the comet, but when Zuko opens his eyes he is faced with an Avatar’s innocent question of friendship. Has he failed at bringing balance to the world or is this the Spirit’s giving him another chance?
All he knows is he’s not going to mess it up this time.

The gaang may or may not have failed at sozin’s comet but Zuko probably died and is now all the way back to when he got shot in the head with a arrow. I LOVE time travel Fics! I LOVE do-overs! I LOVE when characters get to see things again from a new perspective!!!

It kind of irritates me how perfectly everyone is aligned on that chart. It makes too much sense.

AU where AtLA ended on a shot that captured the themes of friendship, found family, and the 4 nations coming together in peace… instead of a shoehorned kiss (and everyone wearing Earth Kingdom outfits..?).
I’ve been a diehard Zutara shipper since forever, but I maintain that the show should have ended without any canon ships except Sokka/ Suki. This “alternate ending” shot is one I’ve wanted to do basically since the finale first premiered, so I’m pleased to have finally drawn it (only 13 years late…).
