I almost wasn’t going to put together a summary of art for 2020, but I decided to anyway because despite everything that happened I managed to draw some pretty decent things!

2020 in particular was really difficult for me; I went through a breakup that unfortunately dragged on for 8 months and involved lawyers, and during that time period the COVID-19 pandemic also forced me to go into 3 months of isolation. That 3 month period of strict isolation included forcing me to work from home, spending my birthday (physically) alone, stopping all floor hockey league games, and having to deal with legal documents and procedures that could have been dealt with before the pandemic started.

I’m doing a lot better now mentally, but between all the shit that happened from the end of 2019 up to this point, art as a hobby for me took a huge step onto the backburner. I’m surprised I even had enough energy and motivation to even FINISH half of the pieces I drew in 2020

Either way, I’m glad people still enjoy my work; even if nowadays posts are few and far between because most of my energy is spent working (don’t get me wrong, I love my job), illustration will always be something I have a passion for!

So Iast year I did this, I had some pretty big hopes and goals for 2020, but uh, yeah. Most of them didn’t happen. I was feeling pretty lost and tired with my artwork, and with the exception of a couple of commissions, I did very little painting. And then the pandemic happened.

At the end of June I begun working full-time which pretty much annihilated any energy I had left for painting but, on the other hand, I was able to save up for an ipad so I could start painting with procreate! I had been wanting to improve my digital art for a while, and a change of medium really helped me to keep going this year! I’m not planning to abandon watercolours forever, but at the moment I’m working almost exclusively on a new comic, which benefits a lot from being digital.

Anyhow, 2021 coming up now I guess. I don’t dare make any goals right now because who knows where things will go from here. For now, I’m just taking a day at the time, keeping my job(less hours now after Christmas though thank fuck) and draw the comic in my free time. Might upload a couple of pages here at some point.

This might be the first time I’ve ever done enough art in a year to make one of these! This blog is very new, so most of these pieces haven’t been posted on here, however some of them can be found on my main @heuheu-the-goose

2020′s been one hell of a year. I’m not quite as far ahead with my art skills as I wanted to be when I started this year, I didn’t focus on dynamic poses or backgrounds like I’d set out to do, but I focused on color theory and shape expressions and what I havemanaged to do through everything has all been more than satisfactory!

Hopefully next year I’ll be able to focus more on dynamic poses and line of action, and all of the perspective studies I started and never finished. All in all, I’m proud of what I managed to get done through all of the turmoil and uncertainty, and I’ve done more with my art than I thought I would this year!

Thank you 2020 for teaching me I had the resilience to persevere, now kindly go away and never come back!

Some personal favourites from 2020! I think we can all agree 2020 wasn’t a great year overall but it was also the year I finished my Master’s, started getting more freelance work and really came into my own style as an illustrator. As we brave into 2021, I just wanted to thank you all for your continued support! I may be a little robot who has trouble expressing their emotions properly but please know that every follow, like and comment warms my cold, metal heart more than words can say

Well here is my art summary of 2020, this year was shitty but I was able to achieve some goals including making a lot of commissions and for the first time I was able to buy a new videogame console all by myself (a Switch) I started to learn a bit of 3d. For the following year I would like to renew my drawing tools, I have my wacom bamboo 6 years ago and it works quite well, it only annoys me that the tips are very worn, I will continue using it until it dies(? So I was thinking of buying something portable to draw  like an iPad  I hope I can. I wish you a happy new year, hope everything improves in 2021 uwu / ✨

Closing off 2020 with a year in review! Sure was an interesting year lmao… It doesn’t really feel like I did a lot, but I think I drew more than I expected and I know I was experimenting a lot this year, which is all I can really ask for.

Some of these examples have yet to be posted, but consider this a preview of sorts LMAO

happy new year’s everyone!
