Omniscient Reader 전지적 독자 시점 was originally published by a webnovel site called Munpia 문피아. Even before being adapted into Naver Webtoon, Munpia sold the rights to adapt it (5 live-action movies, 3 seasons of TV dramas, and TV animation series) to Realies Pictures 리얼라이즈 픽쳐스 which is currently working on writing screenplays for live-action movies. No detailed information about the TV drama or animation series yet. That’s why Naver’s official announcement does not include it.

The Remarried Empress 재혼황후 had been the biggest bestseller in South Korean webnovel history until it was overtaken by Omniscient reader last year.  Even though it is really popular among general public, due to the nature of its genre called RoFan 로판 (= female-oriented RomanceFantasy set in medieval Europe-like world), everyone thought that it is impossible for Korean entertainment industry to adapt it into a K-drama or a K-movie. That’s why everyone was shocked when the webnovel author said that she already signed a deal for TV drama adaptation. No information was released yet, but K-drama fan communities guess that it would be set in an imaginary constitutional monarchy like The King: Eternal Monarch 더킹 : 영원의 군주 or Princess Hours 궁. I hope it would be a fusion Saguek (historical drama) though.

Sovieshu didn’t want to take the time to get to know Navier the way she is now. He lived in a fantasy that him and Navier were still kids just playing and not the Empereor and Empress that have to play the roles they were given. Sovieshu only likes Rashta because she reminds him of the way Navier was before she became the official Empress of the Eastern Empire. King Heinrey is different from Sovieshu in that since though, he loves Navier for who she is in the present and not a fantasized image of her.

im only caught up to chapter 83 so if anyone has anything to add please feel welcome too!

I have my criticisms of Heinley (I can’t see someone very jealous and possessive portrayed as sweet without wanting to come out screaming and running) but there are also so many details of their relationship that are incredibly sweet and cuddly that they are the ones that have me committed to the ship.

I look forward to seeing your thoughts next season because there are several moments (now that Sovieshu is no longer projecting himself and his mother on Navier) that shows how well complemented they were, that he still knows Navier, how he thinks and what he likes. .

But Heinley and Navier? Its was not instantaneous nor was it a slow and continuous progression like Sovieshu and Navier had (that’s why these two didn’t realize they were in love xD), both are on different pages. They have to learn to get to know each other, to make commitments, to see where the relationship as a couple leads them. Navier knew where she was always going with Sovieshu because their relationship as a couple and rulers was intimately intertwined but with Heinley she knows what is expected of her as empress but what they both obtain as a couple they are both discovering. There are many more risks here. where are the limits? What does he want? can i give it to he?

For me the progression of Heinley and Navier’s relationship is very natural. And the interesting thing is how they grow to feel more comfortable with each other, how they learn the things they like and the little tics of their partner. You say that Heinley sees Navier as she is now, and it is true but he must also learn to see her beyond the outside that made him fall in love with her. We are going to spend a lot of time in the honeymoon stage but I want to see these two survive together as a couple when this stage passes and things get difficult. Sovieshu and Navier could not withstand the storm of monotony and secrets can Navier and Heinley? A relationship is more than unbridled passion, after all.

i also can’t wait for the next season so i can see heinrey and navier’s relationship go out of the honeymoon phase and see them go through hardships and learn more about sovieshu and navier’s feeling for eachother.

you gave a very interesting addition to my post and it was nice to read something in the tre fandom that didn’t just hate sovieshu and love everything about heinrey.

I like Navier well enough but I can’t bring myself to root for her all the way. Why? Because what are her personal politics? I still don’t quite know. Yeah, she cares about her people/former people but did she ever care about the slaves? Were they ever a part of “her people”?

The topic of slavery in The Remarried Empress is such an afterthought which is weird because one of the main players is a former slave??? It’s a church-sanctioned/run practice (woof) and the royal family allows/doesn’t seem to have a strong opinion on it??

This speaks to the author and their world-building. As nebulous as it’s treated a simple line of “Slavery bad. I do not condone.” would go miles. But they don’t? Or maybe a line about “Hey people can’t own people.”

But we don’t even get that and as a person who is descended from slaves…it’s just wild I guess.

Like I said before my sympathy for Navier only goes so far. Yeah, she wasn’t in a fulfilling relationship and her goal of being empress (in power) was jeopardized for a minute because of Rashta. However, now she’s got a boy toy that’s head over heels for her and is queen (and soon to be an empress). No matter the circumstance she’s a fictional racialized white woman.

She was always gonna be okay lmaooo.

Unpopular opinion:

I’m finding it a bit hard to see Rashta as “trash” when the woman was literally enslaved for all of her life because her father sold her to get rid of his gambling debt. Who in that position wouldn’t do anything and everything to make sure that they and their offspring wouldn’t face that same trauma.

Yes, she played part in the destruction of a (hollow) marriage but again when opportunities to rise in social society pop up most people take it. Not an excuse but it explains a lot.

Like her or not she is a victim of human trafficking who is trying to navigate a world that views her as lesser than. Would it be good to see her think of others who were/are in the same position and want to advocate for the ending of such a practice? Yes but again I see why she’s so #1.

What’s more: The author paints her in such an unsympathetic light I really wonder why they didn’t just make her dirt poor without the slavery background. Especially since they don’t really acknowledge it much in the world building anyways.

itsaweirdday:

I abandoned The Remarried Empress because I knew how emotionally draining it was going to become in the future(spoiled myself lol). So how’s Sovieshu’s miserable life going? XD

ladytrist:

I know not everyone in the Remarried Empress is innocent BUT STILL I will never feel bad for this bitch. I agree she is a well written antagonist but NOPE I do not feel bad:)

captaindibbzy:

Rashta’s wedding dress cause the artwork and colours are fantastic and I have artist envy.

That middle full length one might be big enough for a phone background.

I’m curious to know what Audrey Bourgeois (from Miraculous Ladybug) would think about this outfit.
