I’ve been a little too busy lately to get out and get some riding done but these hills near Hanoi are a perfect short shred destination.
From old bunkers from the war to conifer trees and great dirt, these hills may be small but they’re full of some serious riding.

4 days, 577kms, 8, 487m of elevation gain and a whole lot of breathtaking views, the Newborns Vietnam Cycle a Difference Asian Business Ride culminates for me with a huge sense of pride and stronger legs. I’ve been off the radar as the rides left me Knackered each day, all the photographs are to ensue in a proper blog post (once I’m done recovering).

Last Sunday was a little more exciting than my usual Sunday Dirt Baths. What started as an usual training spin around the mountain soon turned into an epic adventure which involved Hiking up a steep hill, jumping over(and falling into) numerous war ditches covered with vegetation, and generally struggling with direction. Funny how lost you can get even in your backyard. But mountain bikes always have me grinning from ear to ear.

Climbs have always intimidated me and have been one of my not so favorite things to do on the bicycle.
Lately I’ve been learning how to embrace the suffering and get stronger in the process. I’m so excited to announce that I will be riding with The “Hanoi Cyclists” at the Newborns Vietnam Cycle a Difference ride.
We are raising 6,000$ by riding 610kms with 12,000m of elevation gain in 4 days of riding in the remote North East of Vietnam from 21st-24th March 2018.
Newborns Vietnam is a charity dedicated to improving the survival of newborn infants and their mothers in countries with high levels of neonatal mortality and illness in South East Asia with specific focus on Vietnam.
