This autographed conductor’s baton was sent to President Roosevelt on July 15, 1941 by the famous African American bandleader, jazz singer, and entertainer, Cab Calloway (1907-1994), who was celebrating his 10th anniversary as a bandleader. The baton was the one Calloway had been using since he started as an orchestra leader, and he considered it his most cherished possession. In his letter to FDR, Calloway writes that he is sending the baton “as a token of my expression of admiration for your sterling leadership in the affairs of the United States of America and your position and efforts towards the restoration of peace in Europe and Asia.”
I am 100% convinced that “exit, pursued by a bear” is a reference to some popular 1590s meme that we’ll never be able to understand because that one play is the only surviving example of it.

no, seriously! in late 1609 the explorer jonas poole captured two polar bear cubs in greenland and brought them home to england, where they were purchased by the beargarden, the go-to place in elizabethan london for bear-baiting and other ‘animal sports.’ it was at the time run by edward alleyn (yes, the actor) and his father-in-law philip henslowe (him of the admiral’s men and that diary we are all so very grateful for), and would have been very close, if not next to, the globe theatre.
of course, polar bear cubs are too little and adorable for baiting, even to the bloodthirsty tudor audience, aren’t they? so, what to do with the little bundles of fur until they’re too big to be harmless? well, if there’s anything we know about the playwrights and theatre professionals of the time, it’s that they knew how to make money and draw in audiences. and the spectacle of a too-small-to-be-dangerous-yet-but-still-real-live-and-totally-WHITE-bear? what good entertainment businessman is going to turn down that opportunity?
and, voila, we have a death-by-bear for the unfortunate antigonus, thereby freeing up paulina to be coupled off with camillo in the final scene, just as the comedic conventions of the time would expect.

Okay, this was interesting work with searching materials! Russia has rich culture and history. And I’m glad to share with you little piece of this.
I tried to found balance between identity of our nations and Inuyasha’s characters.
Kagome live in Tokyo, capital of the Japan, so I use Moscow 90s like the starting point.
Main plot of Inuyasha happen about XIV-XV century, in those times Moscow was ordinary Russian town, so I think the well could be outside of modern Moscow.
So, a lot of characters from Central Federal District, but Miroku and Sango could be come from distant regions.

As you probably already know, Tumblr doesn’t have an ability to have a featured posts. Just imagine you have an important post that needs to be pinned on your blog that is dynamically updated with no efforts (no need to directly tweak your posts in your HTML editor, just tag the post with “featured” and it will automatically shows up). You can see the example on my blog with the title named “latest posts”. In it, you can see four posts that are dynamically added if I tag them with a spesific tags. Cool, isn’t? Thus, I am here sharing my way on how to make it possible using jQuery and Tumblr API (I am sure there will another way to make this happen using vanilla JS, but since I am not good at this, I consider using jQuery instead). Hopefully it will help you guys!
