#tidying

LIVE

Hah! Last couple of days I have spent hours cleaning and tidying the house because a friend is coming to cat sit (just popping in, not staying or anything) and NO ONE CAN KNOW WE LIVE LIKE THIS!

Anyway, she came over today to get keys and instructions on where the bowls & food are etc. I said to forgive the clutter (we have a lot of stuff) and she said: “Don’t tidy up on my account!”

I’m a grown up. I have a friend popping in to check on my cats over the weekend. I am frantically tidying my house because *she must not know we live like this*

For the record the below is post tidy, that’s one third of the main room done..

Day 5: A quick update on my decluttering

(I may not have perfect skin, but these lemons do. I also just felt like I had to find a refreshing image to match my refreshing feeling after all the tidying up and since it’s pouring and flooding like no tomorrow in Sydney, I was not going) Cleaning out my room has never felt so good. I have found so many things that I didn’t even realised I owned and got rid of some many seriously outdated…

“An ancient Chinese system of designing buildings and space arrangement according to special rules about the flow of energy, aimed at achieving harmony with the environment.“

My friend lended me her two books about the subject matter. So far, I have read about placement areas pertaining to certain areas of life, such as romance. The book said “Do not be sad if your fish dies, for this means it absorbed some negative energy and protected you. Replace it as soon as possible.”

Certainly a history of clutter, borderline hoarding and rushing in life has led to my chi energy, my soul, my being to be horribly out of alignment. My intention with this beautiful, hidden, nuanced art of physical plane placement, is to align with my environment, living in harmony with my higher self once again. day 1.

My rules of getting rid of 1000 things ;)

As i mentioned last time I’m getting rid of 1000 things in 2020 in order to more minimalist lifestyle. I decided to make my own rules (but remember I don’t want it to be very difficult!) ;)

  • I count things that I throw away, donate, sell and give away.
  • I don’t throw out if I can donate, sell or give away.
  • Also if I can renovate or upcycle something I do it and decide what to do next.
  • If I persuade somebody living with me under the same roof to get rid of something that we don’t use - I count it.
  • I count things as pair of boots as one item, but for example jewellery which can be worn separately as two items.
  • I count packagings of cosmetics that I can use up (for example body lotions, I still have a few in packagings).
  • I also count new things that I obtain and will compare it in the end of the year.
  • I’ll do a sum up and share with you my progress every month ;)

To be honest I’m not even sure if I’ll find 1000 things to get rid of :D Let’s see what will happen ;)

So I was trying to tidy up the files on my computer a bit and I realized I had a folder on my harddrive labelled “tumblr-hamsters” from late 2012 that I had forgotten all about. I cross-checked all the images of hamsters in cups in this folder to ensure that they were also in my hamsters-in-cups folder and these 6 images didn’t show up there. Gasp! I KNOW I have posted at least SOME of these before, if not ALL of them (the only one I feel unsure about really is the very first one), just with different filenames apparently, but I have decided to post them all again, as a mish-mash compilation and sort of look back (and  just in case that first one HADN’T been posted already in times past).
