Happy#FifiFriday! My husband and I have been binging The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and, for this week, I was inspired by the fabulous fifties fashions!

Summer fun times!!!

Let’s Watch the Pilot was released Friday! The majority of my designs for it were OK KO characters in the style of tiny toons - specifically, Kennedy Cartoons. It was a super weird and fun exercise, and completely Ian’s idea to reference the Kennedy kick dance. :) This was an instance where the designs completely deviated from the board, so Ian and I watched clips of the Kennedy kick dance and did a bunch of drawing/brainstorming together to figure these guys out. You can check out the original kennedy kick dance here. Ian gets credit for figuring out most of the weird stylistic choices we ended up with! Having a meta ep like this was super fun and @ryannshannonand@parkersimmonsyall did a beautiful job. Parker drew the kennedy kick dance sequences in the board, and Ryann came up with the design for actor KO and his beautiful harry styles hairdo. Colors by @kalidraws and art direction by John Pham!

“People make fun of how I speak too”

There was this one episode of Tiny Toons where these swans were a bunch of selfish jerks to Shirley and mocked everything about her, including how she talked. And Donald has his whole speech impediment, so I thought he and Shirley can relate to each other on that point.

Also, Tiny Toon Adventures came out in the 90s and Donald was going through his grunge phase back then, so I don’t think it sounds far-fetched to say these could have been friends if they met at the time.
