Tokyo 東京 in perspective. With 634 meter, Tokyo skytree 東京スカイツリー is the world’s tallest tower and the world’s second biggest building after all. (after Burj Khalifa in the Arab Emirates)  From up there, even the massive skyscrapers of Shinjuku appear tiny. There are two observatories, one at 350m and one at 450m but at this height, the noticable difference is small. Entry fee for the lower observatory is around 2500 Yen and there is an extra charge of additional 1000 Yen for the upper one.

While it sure is an unique experience, I thought it to be way to expensive and I had to wait like three hours to get in. Just one hour in a queue because you get a ticket for the queue to the ticket with a specific time on it, a system which let’s you at least look around (the shopping center) for most of the time. But for a scenic view of Tokyo from above, the Metropolitan Building at Shinjuku offers almost the same experience. For free. It’s still worth the money, if you have enough of it.

Unsere Tour “Kiku Premium” ist grade in Japan und wir werden ein bisschen was berichten. Bei unserer Ankunft war es etwas trübe aber dennoch ist die Aussicht aus dem Hotel einmalig.

Took the window of fine weather yesterday, between last week’s snow and the snow that is reported to be on its way tonight or tomorrow, to get out on the mamachari and get some fresh air.

These photos were taken along the the Kyu-Edo River which flows in the border zone between Tokyo and Chiba. There are some nice cycling and walking paths running alongside the river from where you can see yukatabune dining boats bobbing on the water awaiting their evening trade.

Follow the flow of the calm river waters toward Tokyo Bay, takes you past the Disney theme parks before ending your ride at the huge Kasai Rinkai Koen park.

On this occasion though, we took the riverside path in the opposite direction from where we could see Tokyo Skytree on our left as we heading into the yawning suburbs of Tokyo and Chiba.

Week 28: But it wasn’t too long before we were on the road. They took me on a holiday! We went up north to Nikko for a day or two. This was some of the scenery on the way there.
