According to numerous students of Shatner’s toupee, who examine the issue closely, the most fascinating hairpieces Shatner ever wore were the ones in the 1970s, when he appeared on game shows, such as the Match Game in 1975 (above), and his appearance on the New Beat the Clock (below, 1974).

This is the face I always get when I say NO to Toupee. How do I not give into that!?!
This morning I gave #Toupee and #Roux their breakfast of kale, cucumbers and blueberries. Meanwhile, my breakfast consisted of coffee and apple pie.
All was fine and good until Toupee smelled my yummy breakfast. She quickly ran over, put her hand on my thigh and looked up at me with her signature “pwetty pwease” look. She then licked my hand as if to say…., “Please use this hand to pick up apple pie and put in my mouth thank you.” Man! #Rats really test your strength! So far…I’ve failed every single time. #ToupeeThursday
✨PS - To be clear, if I had Toupee’s face and someone was eating apple pie…I would use my charms to get in on that too. She’s a smart girl. Love you Toops!

FAMILY PORTRAIT.

My #ratties #Roux and #Toupee got to visit their biological brothers #Bert #Beesley and #Nickels at @martymousehouse and we decided to do a fancy shmancy family portrait of all of them together!!! Look how adorable they are! The boys look so handsome and debonair and the girls look so poised and elegant! Very deceiving since we know these two girls are trouble makers! 
Since sarah and I both lost our ratties not long ago, we’re really trying to savor every moment and celebrate them any chance we get. And what better way to do that than hold a #rat party and do a family photoshoot … wearing bow ties and ribbons, lounging around a velvet sofa! This is like a Vanity Fair shoot!

GUESS WHAT!!!!!
#Roux & #Toupee are turning ONE and we are having a BIRTHDAY extravaganza! 
Not only are the girls going to be reunited with their biological brothers Bert, Beesley and Nickles from @martymousehouse - but all of them are dressing up in bow ties and ribbons and modeling together in a #rat family portrait! CHRISTMAS LOVE.
Welp. #Heaven fell asleep during our photoshoot again! She cracks me up so much! Look how silly and adorable she looks! I love her to infinity. Unfortunately, #Mizu is under the weather, so she didn’t feel like taking photos, so for Xmas she was quite happy just to stay on my lap, get kisses and eat lots of delicious snacks. I feel so lucky to have Mizu and Heaven for #Christmas this year. Since they are old ladies, I never know how long they will stay with me so I savor each and every moment.
As for their little sisters #Roux and #Toupee - this is their first Xmas and they are LOVING it!

SURGERY DAY!
Today #Roux and #Toupee go into surgery to get spayed. I’ve been anxious about it all week, but I’ve been trying to surrender to it all. Please send some good energy their way! These two babies are very bonded and scare easily, so I’m pretty sure they might be nervous right now, but they have each other which makes me feel better. And can we look at Roux’s whisker game? She is part Rex, so she has those signature curly #whiskers !!! I love these two babies so much! Be brave girls! You’ll be home soon! ✨✨✨

TROUBLE MAKER.
Do not be deceived! #Toupee has this amazing ability to look sooooo sweet and innocent whilst doing naughty things! She will pounce on her sisters when they’re peacefully sleeping, steal their valuables, push them over on their backs as they cry for her to stop and then run away to rip apart everything in her path! All whilst looking so damn cute! 
And god forbid, should anyone do the same thing back to her…. she cries and screams so loudly, you’d think she was being attacked by a bear! 
Sometimes I lightly scold her when she gets too crazy, but then she looks up at me with that face and I end up just giving her a lot of kisses! Toupee is a lot of fun and definitely keeps things colorful in this house! She may be small for her age (the same size as Potato) but her personality is HUGE! “Nobody puts baby Toupee in the corner!” Dirty Dancing reference for you youngins’.

MY DELICATE EATERS.
#Toupee & #Potato are my gentle, slooooow eaters! As we know, #ratties can gobble up food like nobody’s business but these two are just so darn dainty with their food! Such manners!
When I first got Toupee, her and Potato did NOT get along. It took me a while to understand what was going on between them, as Toupee was getting along with everyone else and Potato was getting along with Roux. It was just these two that had problems. After working with the both of them, I realized they had something in common: both were VERY sensitive and insecure.
Unfortunately, there was a lot of fighting and it was worrisome, so I ended up having to separate them and live apart. I was bummed there was a good chance they would never be able to be in the same dwelling. BUT I never gave up on them! I reached out to a few people who were rat pros in our community and they taught me very special techniques to try on the girls and I’m happy to say with persistence, a lot of patience and working on their fear, they are now BEST FRIENDS! In fact, of all the #rats , these two stick together the most! Isn’t it funny when that happens? So now, we are one big happy family! And my two slow eaters can now eat delicately… together! Nom. Pause. Nom. Pause. Nom.
PS! Do you see how at one point Toupee eats her cracker into a little heart?!?! I can’t.

DID I DO SOMETHING?
This is the face #Toupee gives me when she does something naughty. It’s so tough to say NO to this girl because she’s so damn cute! She really knows how to work that innocent “OH! Did I do something wrong? I’m sowwwwwwy” face! I try to be stern and say no… but she immediately looks at me with those eyes and I melt. I swear she has me wrapped around her teeny #rattie finger! PS- my favorite parts of Toupee are her puckered ears! They remind me of potato chips! Anyone else have #ratties with potato chip ears? Love my Toops!

YAWWWWWNNNNNN! Ever notice that your #rat yawns a lot? Especially when you come up to pet them? They say, aside from just waking up, a lot of the time, when a rat yawns towards you, it’s to say hello!!! How sweet is that?!? I got the best hello from #Toupee today! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
#Toupee and #Roux are obsessed with #Mizu - They see her as a mother figure and practically fight over who gets to sleep next to her! And as you can tell from the look on Mizu’s face, rambunctious kids can be exhausting!!! I’m so proud of Mizu, she’s taken on the role of mama so well! I love her so much!

WHEATGRASS BABY!
Baby #Toupee and #Roux got to try #wheatgrass for the first time and they absolutely loved it! In fact, Toupee went CRAZY over it. She suddenly started kicking, digging and popcorning all over the place (watch video)! She could hardly contain her excitement! And doesn’t Roux look like she’s giving me the side eye? 
I love watching them when their #rattie wild instincts kick in! So much fun! For those who haven’t tried, I highly recommend wheatgrass for your #ratties ! Not only is it good for them, the wheatgrass garden also stimulates their foraging and hunting skills! And it’s so easy to grow. Toupee and Roux are in wheatgrass heaven! Happy Wheatgrass Wednesday!

YAWN, BOGGLES & LOVE.
My #babyrat #Toupee absolutely idolizes #Mizu - She follows her everywhere, copies her every move and sleeps with her every single night. Definitely a Stage Five Clinger! Since a very young age, Toupee would go underneath Mizu to try to get milk from her, so it looks like she sees Mizu as her mother? It’s so adorable and sweet!
At first, when #Toupée would follow her everywhere, Mizu would look up at me like, “Um, I didn’t sign up for this. I need my space!” But now, I’m so proud of Mizu. She is very patient with Toupee, let’s her crawl all over her and gives her kisses and boggles every day. By the way, for those who don’t know what boggling is, it’s when #ratties grind their teeth which makes their eyes move quickly in and out of their sockets … an action that typically means they’re very happy and content! It can also mean they’re not feeling well, but in this case, it’s clear that it’s nothing but pure #love and affection! God I wish I had a shrinking machine so I could crawl in there between them and join in on the love! Love you Meez and Toops! You melt my heart!

CANCER FREE!
I’ve got great news! My sweet Heaven’s biopsy results came back and we found out it’s NOT cancer! The texture and firmness of the tumor had us all concerned, but I’m soooo happy to say the tumor is benign. So now, #Heaven just needs to heal from the incision - she ripped out half of her sutures and got an infection, but she is on antibiotics and will hopefully be better soon! Heaven has always been the mama bear of the group, so even when she wasn’t feeling great, this whole time, she’s been there to kiss and groom the #babyrats and be a pillow for #Potato to sleep on. 
And I want to give my babies #Toupee and #Roux so much credit! They are the craziest, most playful rats I’ve ever had, yet since the surgery, they have not once tried to pounce on or play with Heaven. As if they know, she needs to rest and heal. These animals have so much empathy … if only more people knew the love of rats! 
Now if you’ll excuse me… I have to go stop Roux from eating my headboard. Never a dull moment in this household! I #love you Heaven! Heal baby heal!
