As announced back in 10 November 2020, JKT48 as a whole will have to do a major restructurationamidst COVID-19 pandemic, which hinders the group’s activity massively.

JKT48 management already discussed things with its stakeholders how to keep the group afloat and with that the decision will have to be a reduction both in employees & members and basically “start over”.

Because of that, there will be an event for graduating members.Members who already discussed this with management and decides tograduate:

INTRODUCING OUR NEW HERITAGE TRAINEES!As part of the Royal Academy’s 250th anniversary celebrations

INTRODUCING OUR NEW HERITAGE TRAINEES!

As part of the Royal Academy’s 250th anniversary celebrations and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the RA has taken on three trainees to work throughout different departments during 2017/18. My name is Patrick and I am based within Learning, there is also Wes in Digital and Masa in Collections, I am sure you will hear from them soon.

These first five weeks have been such a whirlwind, meeting so many new wonderful and interesting people and having the opportunity to explore the Royal Academy in ways that I have never done before. As a group of trainees we were given an in-depth introduction program that other members of my team have been extremely jealous of, I have delved deep into the archive and rummaged through the silver collection traditionally donated to the RA by new academicians.

Sometimes the RA can look, – to an outsider, – like a stalwart of the artistic establishment, an inaccessible and intimidating place for certain groups. However, being based within the learning team I have been able to witness first-hand several access groups, which have been developed over years closely with community groups to help gain access to hard to reach audiences. A brilliant example of this is the monthly Art Club, where homeless people come together to make and discuss art. It showed me how these groups are more than just about the art, they help participants to feel valued, accepted and included. It allows them to build the confidence to increase their social activity, which can go on to help people get back on their feet. Hearing stories of past attendees getting jobs as a direct influence of Art Club is inspiring and hopefully something I can continue to be involved in throughout my traineeship.

Throughout the year I hope to keep you all informed of my progress and the activities I will be involved with for the 250th anniversary celebrations. This year is going to go fast and I cannot believe I have already been here for five weeks!!!

Take care all,

Patrick

I still remember clearly the first time I was caned at school.

It was during the first term of my secondary education and it was because of Miss Green, a trainee teacher who didn’t know how to control the class. The volume of the murmurs and chattings in class were increasing without her stopping them until suddenly she stared at me (who was sitting in the front row) and sent me to the Headmistress’s office arguing that it was me the one who was disrupting the lesson.

It was completely unfair. Of course I was chatting and not paying attention but just the same of the rest of my mates were doing!

Even worse, she also said that she wanted “an apology from me after my chat with the Headmistress”.  That was too much!

I was not willing to look for her after the lessons just to apology besides being unfairly punished. Doing that, would be against my chivalry pride, so I left the classroom willing to ignore that order. I’d rather prefer to cope a second caning from the Head than to submit unfairly to that bitch.

Well at least, those were my thoughts before my first meeting with the cane.

When I managed to get out of the Headmistress office, I could hardly walk. I had burst in tears and my striped bottom hurt like if I were sitting on a grill on fire! The cane hurt much more than the worst of my expectations.

At that moment the words of the teacher asking for an apology resounded in my head and my brain recovered its function.

I had to put my pride aside, there were not way to endure a second punishment like that!

So I went to the toilets, washed my face out and rushed to find Miss Green who was sitting on the corridor’s benches.

I apologized for whatever I had done wrong since the moment I was born. The pain of the scorchers pf my backside looked like being increasing with the pass of time, I think that if she had asked me to kneel and kiss her feet, I would had done it without any doubt.

Years later, I cannot but to think how many times in my life I have had to put my pride aside and… how nice it would had been having to kiss her feet!

It was a surprise when I saw Miss Evans, the trainee teacher who had sent me for the caning, waiting for me outside the Headmistress’ office.

- Hi, Johnson, I just wanted to know how went your visit to the Headmistress. I hope she was not too hard on you

- Well, she caned me as expected, Miss.

- Really? Did she? I am sorry about that, Johnson. The class was going a bit out of my control and you were seated in the front row, so I chose you for punishment. That was all, nothing you did especially wrong. It’s was not my intention to hurt you.

-  A caning, always hurts, Miss. Especially if the Head delivers it.

-  Well, I see it’s not the best moment to chat with you now so I better leave you alone. Just try to sit on a more discreet desk next time.

By the way, are tears what I see in your eyes? Amazing, I didn’t expect senior boys being so sensitive!
