cool hi so uh just a casual reminder that “fuck cops” isn’t a damn aesthetic so please stop treating it as one. it’s not a qUiRkY addition to your scenecore blog or a way for your punk account to seem more counterculture. it’s alright for your aesthetic blog to have political messages, but once those political messages become a part of the aesthetic rather than something that is existing alongside it, you have already disrespected the thousands of individuals who have had their lives utterly destroyed by this system.

Every single cop show is like oh look how these cool badass protags just wanna do their job but the obnoxious pencil-pushers back at the office keep getting in the way by trying to make them follow due conduct and the very obvious criminal keeps maliciously obstructing them by invoking their legal rights and wouldn’t they be able to do their job so much better and faster if they were allowed to just follow their gut and do whatever it takes to arrest the person they already pinned down as the dangerous criminal? And then people eat it up and go on the internet to make youtube comments about how refusing to speak with the cops without a lawyer is extremely suspicious behavior.
My brother has a criminal record because he participated in a senior prank at his high school at age 16. No one was hurt, no property was damaged. He was the youngest kid there by a year, and the only one charged with a crime.He’s Romani.

I had to call the cops on my mum the other day. She’s been abusing my younger siblings for years and CPS refuses to do anything. I’m still trying to get the kids out of there but I knew there was an incident happening in the moment so I called the cops.
The police showed up four hours late, told mum which kid contacted me about the incident, and left. Putting that kid in even more danger than before.
The moderator on the phone blamed me for not doing enough to help the kids. When I told her that I’m a disabled 20 year old who’s already reported to CPS many many times, who’s already made an official complaint to CPS when they didn’t listen, who’s already contacted a family hotline, a legal hotline, red cross, lifeline, Vinnies, Legal Aid, my local member of parliament, and the minister of CPS for our state, she told me to just try harder.
