I forgot to post these back in January. When I finally got to set a day aside to watch ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’. ‘Still the best night of my year so far! Had snacks, popcorn, Chinese takeaway, the artbook, my favourite wine held up inside my Ghost trap tin box and had a slap-up breakfast. 

I even ordered some Twinkies, Cheez-Its and Crunch bars online. While the latter didn’t arrive in time (not that I needed more than night), it was fun trying the first two for the very first time - since we don’t have them in the UK. I even went out of my way to buy the Stay-Put and Ecto-1 popcorn containers from eBay. Aye, scalpers are a pain in the arse, but only option for someone outside the US; Absolutely worth it. 

I was hoping to try and make the bus journey to the nearest city to see it in the cinema; but it was December, and other things got in the way. Though I’m glad I didn’t in the end. I couldn’t have had a great set-up like that. Especially since I watched the first film right before it. It made spotting all the little details in Afterlife all the better. It’s also a good thing I was on my own, because I cried like a baby for two hours afterwards.

Even while I marathon all three films tonight for Ghostbusters Day, I’ll be raising a glass for you Harold! 

Twinkie post op update:
Her surgery was successful and uneventful! She had two doctors working on her the entire time and she is now back home resting, well medicated, and definitely wanting out of her padded doggo sized enclosure. It hurt to see her like this, but she’s a strong and fiesty little orange girl. She’s been doing a lot of sleeping since yesterday due to the heavy pain meds she’s on, but is up and wanting to cause trouble a few hours later. It’s so weird seeing her tail nub move about without a point. I’m just just grateful she’s still here. It could have been so much worse.

Twinkie update (the rest of the text is in the comments or slides)
TW: descriptive animal pain in second paragraph/slide onward (she’s gonna be fine though)

I got her to the ER doc and they took her in at 9pm on Thursday night, letting me know it would take 20 minutes to assess and give me an estimate to approve. She was the first patient to be seen. 45 minutes later and still no paperwork, and now seeing that the car next to me was just handed their credit card back, and I’m pissed. I go inside and find out they had started intaking all the other pets after mine and had held off on giving me the estimate to push the others forward, and they specifically stated that Twinkie was their most critical patient. I’m livid and tell them I want my estimate now and that she needs to be given pain meds now.

10 minutes later (it’s sometime after 10pm at this point) they come back with an estimate and assessment information. Twinkies tail has been degloved a couple of inches and they can do the surgery to manage save her tail, but won’t be able to at least until after 1:30 am after the doctor has finished taking care of all the new NON CRITICAL patients. Furthermore, they want to keep her for 24 hrs poston, but the ER doc is leaving at 6am and there will be no Dr on site until 8pm the following evening. They said that if she crashes during post op, they won’t be able to do anything. I’m angry at this point and tell them I do not feel safe or comfortable with her having to wait like that and would rather they give her pain meds, antibiotics, and either clean or bandage her and I will take her home and get her to her gp vet in the morning. I ok the bill, immediately pay so they can start treatment, however these assholes took another 2.5 hours to give her the pain injection and antibiotics injection. I’m blowing up their phone, going in and out of the office, because she’s in pain and they are doing nothing that they were paid over 2 hours ago to do, after making it a point to tell me they had zero critical cases apart from hers. I can be nice, and extremely patient, until I’m not.

Please pray, send good vibes, etc for my Twinkie. The wind blew through the house and the door slammed and crushed her beautiful little tail. It’s bleeding pretty bad and the second half of her tail has no movement. She’s calm, curious, and purring in between moments of anxiety panting, while we wait for the ER doc to come in. A vet tech already took a look at her and said her tail will probably have to be amputated.

She just had surgery in February for a mass removal on her neck (thankfully biopsy showed it wasn’t cancer). I haven’t even posted about Jasmine yet, and poor Twinkie is now in pain. One cat either starts to get better or isn’t out of the woods and another gets hurt or sick. We can’t catch a break.
