Twitter users are pros at that.
TomdayaOfficial, a private Instagram account, and Tumblr blogs, on an app that’s near the bottom when it comes to popularity really, are the scapegoats most of the time.
Need an example of how that word works? Speaking in my name only, I know that what I post can be perceived as intrusive be that pap pictures, sneaky ones and videos from people who cross their paths, sightings ect…even if all of this is freely availableonline.
What I am not accountable for? Twitter folks coming here to then post all that on their account that has so much more exposure than probably all of us Tomdaya blogs combined have in our little corner on Tumblr.
While you bitch and moan about us, you still seek that content we post (whether you post it on your feed or in your little groupchats). Sometimes even going as far as to copy and paste captions for fuck’s sake.
But what else is Twitter talented for? DRAMA.
Who engages with clear antis, sharing screenshots of actual nutjobs who hate on Tom and/or Zendaya to spice up their miserable lives, only resulting in giving them more attention? Twitter.
Who fights day in and day out with trolls, haters, other fandoms acting like they’re defending Tom and/or Zendaya as if they need you to come to their rescue because clearly the bubble that is the bird app is reflective of the real world (Spoilers alert: It’s Not!) and spreading all that nonsense in the process? Twitter.
Who has “fans” that make it a sport to drag Tom and/or Zendaya by criticizing them, making fake edits and whatnot only to try and pass it off as a “joke” once it inevitably blows up? Twitter.
Who desperately seek hit tweets and dream of being noticed by Tom and/or Zendaya or their people (which is probably why Z taking a step back from that app has people mad because there goes one of their opportunities)? Twitter.
I could go on, but the hypocrisy from people over there is uncanny. They’re never responsible for anything, they don’t mean tweets to go viral (and yes, that’s true at times like the whole Mr Zendaya tweet which was harmless and only went sideways when people turned this into another worthless fandom war of two people who are happily in love), it’s never “that deep” when they’re concerned but it’s the end of the world the rest of the time so much so that they have to get involved.
Even I know better now to not engage with antis, I’ve turned off anons because they’re just seeking a platform that I refuse to give them even if I don’t publish their bs, negativity has no place on my blog and I will never understand that messed up need to hate or get into fights online, about and with strangers.
I don’t even share crack anymore or just talk about Tomdaya at length either because I’m aware that while my “reach” is still small, it grew exponentially since July 2nd and sometimes my thoughts have been taken at face value as if fucking Tomdayaland on little ol’ Tumblr knows jack shit about anything (still baffled by that whole Megalopolis thing).
Zendaya’s story was notjust about the appalling pregnancy rumor though, which was started on Tiktok and spread by locals indeed, but her weekly was clear enough, the incesssant drama has been going on for too long, and yes, Twitter stans have taken part in it yet they look at her story and willfully ignore that part, some morons actually went straight for our (Tumblr & TO) throats for some reason, now that’s just laughable.
I’m no saint, by all means, but I’ve got no issue admitting to that, but I sure won’t be blamed for what ends up on Twitter and whatever shitshow they enable all the damn time with a fascinating lack of common sense.
This isn’t to say every stan on Twitter is an idiot who can’t get anything right, not at all, the point is that nobody is beyond reproach in this stan culture we’re all involved in.
Tom and Zendaya are more popular than ever, everyone is obsessed with them, from the press that yes will always try to bring up the other up (fun fact for those who enjoy whining about that too: Beside NWH, Tom has been on ONE press tour while Zendaya has done THREE on top of interviews at events so obviously she’s been asked more about Tom than he has, duh) and locals, some of them who will create one crazy rumor or fucked up theory after another on subjects that shouldn’t even be anybody’s business but Tomdaya’s.
If your first reaction to Zendaya’s story was to blame others because she won’t be engaging with fans on Twitter, and god forbid deprive you of a ❤ on your little tweets, check your priorities perhaps.

“Reclaim your brain” for the great Evening Standard Magazine. The article was all about how our attention spans are diminishing due to too many distractions - social media ranked highly as one of those. I’m guilty of this too, it took 3 attempts to read the article before starting roughs. Every time I needed to google something I disappeared down a rabbit hole of “what should I cook for dinner” etc. It’s worth a read and offers helpful tips on retraining your brain to stay focussed on one thing at a time!

I like hardly ever get on Twitter anymore but I did today and wound up wanting to unfollow someone and when I went to their page I saw there’s apparently now a “Super Follow” option??
Of course I was like ‘wtf is that’ and googled it and it’s like, so people can like subscribe to bonus Twitter content?? It’s like Post+ for Twitter??

(Apparently Twitter had the idea like 2 months after Tumblr too?? Because obvi I thought this had to be a shitty Musk idea but surprisingly it wasn’t when i looked it up?? Twitter rolled it out September of last year (Tumblr pushed out post+ in July of last year))
