New illustration based on a scene from The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. It came to my attention by one of my lovely Patreon members that there’s not much fanart of a joyous Addie, so I obliged!

This scene was probably the most joyous scene in the book for Addie. As an artist, imagining having to live 300+ years and watch any mark you make disappear I felt was the worst part of Addie’s curse. The moment Henry made it possible for her to paint again, especially her name, and tip-toe around rule of the curse was elating and so so satisfying. Literal Letters of Marque.
Time to reveal another Invisible Life of Addie LaRue piece! This time, an illustration featuring a scene from the book where Addie is reading on a rooftop of a building. This was an illustration used in a two-part acrylic framed art print for the Illumicrate October 2020 box. The star pattern was printed on the surface of one of the two acrylic blocks, with the print sandwiched in between - giving it a 3D affect as Addie reaches up to the touch the stars.
This frame concept was perfect for this scene, because in this scene, there are no stars in the sky. Seven freckles, seven stars, allusions to seven great loves in her life. Her life, that only she can reminisce about, only she (and the reader) can see. Without the acrylic frame, you only have Addie cautiously reaching up to an invisible star, but one that seems to be tangible:

Esse foi o primeiro livro que li da V. E. Schwab e eu me apaixonei pela escrita, no início, apesar de lenta, a história me cativou por causa dela e me fez ler o livro super rápido. É uma fantasia completamente diferente do que costumamos ver, com um sistema mágico incrível e personagens profundos, a autora me conquistou logo de cara.
Confesso que, apesar de tudo, tive alguns problemas com a história, algumas coisas não eram bem justificadas e no final alguns atos foram fáceis demais, mas isso não tirou todo o encanto que senti ao ler o livro. Desde sempre vi muita gente falando mal da Lila, a personagem feminina parceira do Kell na história, mas eu gostei bastante dela até. O que me incomodou em relação a ela é que eles formariam ótimos amigos, só que algumas cenas deram a entender que eles, no futuro, formariam um casal e eu achei isso desnecessário, mas vamos esperar para ver.
No momento que estou escrevendo isso estou lendo a sequência, Um Encontro de Sombras, e estou adorando, espero que continue assim. Mal posso esperar para saber quando o terceiro será lançado no Brasil. Obrigada por lerem :)

Recently, V revealed on Instagram, in conjunction with Juniper books, that she helped design a custom book set for The Shades of Magic series. Naturally, I smash the purchase button.

This edition is from Fox & Wit’s Quarterly Box (it’s a book subscription if you haven’t heard of them). I have an addiction to sprayed edges now and love the aesthetic it adds. A lot of book subscription services are doing this special feature for their books.

I am so very excited to read this! I don’t care if the intended audience is middle grade, Cassidy and Jacob give me life. Not to mention, V always slays it with the world building and creating atmospheric reads. ♥️
