LIVE

Hi, this is Zoey! The sweetest sweet girl in all of eternity. With the kindest, most loving demeanor and the happiest bouncy gate. Recently, though, Zoey’s gate has changed and she’s been limping. It turns out Zoey has bilateral luxating patella’s (her kneecaps don’t stay in place) and will need surgery to fix them. Zoey was born on Halloween 2020 so who’s to say if she was cursed by a witch, but either way, she’s much too young to suffer with this for the rest of her life. Zoey’s first surgery is scheduled for the beginning of December with a veterinary orthopedic surgeon. Zoey and our whole family would be so thankful if you could help her out so she can joyfully bound through our backyard again. And grow up to be her same darling self, but now with kneecaps that behave themselves.

Dear husky lovers and owners, thank you so much for your love and support of my dogs and the blog! I’m happy to see my pups bringing joy to so many other people!

Unfortunately, tragedy has befallen our family at the start of this year.

On January the 2nd I noticed Canela was very lethargic, she wasn’t eating as much as she usually does. We booked the earliest appointment with our vet that we could, they saw her on January the 5th. She came in with a fever, a small skin lesion had developed just the day before, her left eye was looking red and irritated.

image

They prescribed her antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory and some pain meds. Initially she was perkier, the pain meds were helping– but she wasn’t getting better, her condition was worsening. She wouldn’t open her left eye, her right eye started to look red, the lesion on her leg was swelling and two more were starting to appear. We brought her to an emergency pet clinic on the 9th.

After several expensive tests Canela was diagnosed with a bad case of Blastomycosis, a systemic fungal infection that was causing her a lot of pain. The disease progressed rapidly, she had several bad skin lesions, her lungs were coated with spores, she could barely stand and her left eye was looking even worse by the time we had gotten her to the emergency clinic.

image

She was hospitalized so they could treat her, the internal medicine specialist told us we needed to be prepared because there was a significant chance she wouldn’t survive. I was absolutely devastated. Nothing could have prepared me for this to happen to my ten month old puppy.

image

She was a very strong, brave girl; the first 48 hours were the hardest, she needed oxygen and IV fluids but once they started giving her the first few doses of the antifungal we really started to see her improve.

image

She was discharged yesterday on January the 12th, she’s doing much better and she’s able to walk again but she’s lost the ability to see in both of her eyes.

image

We took her to an ophthalmologist yesterday, there’s a possibility her sight may return in her right eye when the inflammation goes down but her left eye is permanently blind, it may even need to be surgically removed if there’s enough granuloma but it’s too early to tell.

image

Nothing in this world means as much to me as my dogs, I’m just so relieved to have her home and alive whether or not she can see. I’ll keep you guys updated on her condition, please send all your hope and well wishes our way!

Update on This: Canela has been on antifungals for seven months but she isn’t getting better and recently she’s getting worse, the skin lesions are reemerging and she’s been very lethargic. I’ve tried everything the vets have suggested, we’ve raised her fluconazole dosage twice and injected antifungals into her eyeballs, she takes 150 mg of fluconazole every twelve hours and gets three different eyedrops four times a day for inflammation, pain and to keep the pressure down. Her ophthalmologist and her vet think she’s not getting better because the fungal organisms are in her eyes still and the oral antifungal she’s on isn’t taking care of them. I need to get my dog’s eyes surgically removed, it’s the only way we’ll be able to ensure she won’t get reinfected. I won’t be able to pay for it with my current financial situation, it’s around $2,000. I’ve started a gofundme, if you can donate even a dollar I’d appreciate it and if you can’t please reblog to spread the word!! I’m terrified Canela won’t make it if we don’t get this surgery soon and by the time I’ll be able to afford it it might be too late for her. Thank you for reading this and thank you for spreading the word and helping us out! I’ll try to come up with a way to thank donors, the link to the GoFundMe is https://www.gofundme.com/canelas-surgery

Canela’s officially on the brand name antifungal now since she was taking the generic for seven months and skin lesions are reemerging. Hopefully it’ll help her fight blastomycosis better but it’s set me back on what I thought I could pay for in terms of her eye removal surgery.

Help spread the word for my pup, she needs this procedure as soon as possible!!

Some people have asked how Bailey is doing. I stopped posting about her because it made me uncomfortable and self-conscious to ask for contributions and I didn’t want to feel like I was nagging people when it was obvious everyone who was going to donate had done so. But those who did contribute might like to know how things are going, so…

We had hoped she’d start eating again after her sore teeth were removed, but that hasn’t been the case. She’s still not eating or grooming herself. Her energy is a little low, though not, like, deathly low, and she’s clearly INTERESTED in food, but she’s just not eating. She’ll lick it a couple times, maybe, and if I give her the stew rather than the pate, she might lick up the gravy but leave the chunks. When I’m in the kitchen preparing her food, she’s interested, but…that interest isn’t translating to actually eating the damn food. She won’t touch her dry food, and if I open a can of moist food, at least 95% of it goes to waste.

At first we thought it might be the antibiotics she was on until last Friday causing problems, but it’s been a week now since her last dose, and she still hasn’t resumed eating. The places where her teeth were extracted have healed up just fine. It could be she just doesn’t like the feeling of trying to eat with them being gone, but so much so that she lets herself starve?

In the last few days, we’ve taken to watering down the pate so we can force-feed her using a syringe. It’s not a long-term solution, and highly unpleasant for everyone involved (me, mixing the food and feeding it to her; my husband, holding her head still and getting her mouth open so we don’t end up with cat-food sludge everywhere; and of course Bailey herself) but at least we’re getting some calories and hydration into her, because she’s not drinking much water either.

So I took her back to the vet today (very glad we purchased that Pet Health Club membership, which has already paid for itself and then some, just by making her last exam and today’s appointment free, not to mention the discount on the dental services.)

She is down to 9.7 pounds from 10 a couple weeks ago when they weighed her prior to her dental work a few weeks ago, and down from 12 lbs in 2017. Not good, but not deathly. Still, I don’t like how well I can feel her spine when I pet her. She’s a little dehydrated, and the vet thought her gums looked a little pale. She wants me to examine Bailey’s stool so see if it’s black (which would indicate bleeding in her GI tract) but yeah, the cat would have to be eating enough to poop for me to be able to do that.

So, Bailey is not a vicious cat when you take her to the vet; she doesn’t hiss or yowl or struggle at all. She’s not passive, per se, because she’s quite tense and not at all chill, but she just goes very still and quiet. She tries to hide in her carrier so we have to take the top off it because she won’t come out of it willingly.

I took advantage of this to groom her while we were there, while I had her on the table and was talking to the vet. I pulled out a huge handful of mats that were stuck in her fur. Her fur is so matted (and the mats tend to sort of shear off everything around it) that if you look underneath the fluff, she has some fairly large bald patches where I managed to work the mats free. The vet said her skin doesn’t appear irritated, so it’s likely just the mats. If we can get rid of those and get her grooming herself again, this will be fine. Unfortunately, if she’s feeling too punk to eat, she’s obviously not going to feel like cleaning herself.

At this point, with Bailey’s history (since we got her) of only being able to tolerate certain foods that are formulated to be easy on the digestive system, the vet is suspecting some sort of irritable bowel disorder. Ideally she would like to do an ultrasound to see what is happening, but we simply can’t afford to go any deeper into debt on this.

They gave her some subcutaneous fluids to help with the dehydration. But at this point, we can’t do any more tests or procedures, so only option is to guess and hope for the best. We’ve got anti-nausea medication, an appetite stimulant that may make things worse depending on if the problem really is irritable bowel disease, and the drug sold as Pepcid at the pharmacy–which I actually did pick up at the pharmacy because it’s the exact same thing I could get at the vets, for 1/3 the price.

Also, the super-special sensitive stomach food, which is $3 a can, as opposed to the $2.25 a can for the merely sorta-special sensitive stomach food.

Today’s bill was $200, which (along with the $100 last week on a more comprehensive kidney function test they did when they found protein in her urine during the dental cleaning) brings the total we’ve spent up to $1300. I raised $450 a few weeks, so we’re $850 in debt on this now.

If the new food and the meds don’t work, then this is it for Bailey. We can go no further. Force-feeding is not a tenable, long-term solution. It just isn’t. So if we can’t convince her to eat, she is going to have to be put down, because it would be cruel to let her slowly starve to death.

I know some people aren’t sure about using Ko-Fi, but I don’t really have anything else to offer for people who want to contribute. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears. Because we spent over $200, we have 6 months of no interest to pay off the CareCredit plan we got for this.

So. I’m just gonna offer my Ko-Fi link again, but I’m not going to keep posting about this. I hate having to post about it at all. If you do contribute or have contributed, know that I’m incredibly grateful. Thank you.

Sorry to be another one of thousands of posts on this site, but I’m going to need some help. Sparta, my precious pup who’s kept me okay and sane the last year and few months of my life, broke her leg last night. I got a quote, and it could cost up to $4,500 USD to fix. Her appointment (and hopefully surgery) tomorrow is at 10AM, 2/26/2020. I’m currently writing this post at about 4PM, 2/25/2020.

I’m offering writing commissions, an easy $6 dollars (two ko-fis) for literally any fic or writing piece you want. I’ll do what I can, I just need to get Sparta’s vet expenses paid.

If you guys don’t want a fic, a donation is ALSO a very very appreciated notion. Or even just sharing. I want to be able to get her fixed up and pay for it. At most, my biggest concern is getting her healed. Anything you all can do to help me, I’d appreciate it.

Ko-fi https://ko-fi.com/hackedtig
Message me on Discord, Hacked Tig#8409 , if you’d like a fic commission. Donation first, commission second. Also, keep in mind I still need to work my normal job as well But rest assured, your commission will be done.

Thank you all once again.

I know this obviously doesn’t go with my blog’s theme, and I hate to do this, but I’ve seen other people do this and people have come together to help. My dog Daizy desperately needs dental surgery. Her teeth are so rotten that over half need to be taken out, and if they’re not it could lead to heart or kidney issues. Anyone with a pet knows that vet bills are outrageous, and I’m a broke college student that doesn’t work over the school year. My parents have been really weird about it and just won’t pay for it or even let me help pay for it. I think they don’t want to do anything for her since she’s thirteen, but she doesn’t act like she’s old and I believe she has more years left. I’ll put a link to the Go Fund Me I made for her. If you have a spare dollar, or know someone who does, or just spread this, I would be forever grateful. Also, if you have a small dog please brush their teeth or get their teeth cleaned or get them treats that clean their teeth. I didn’t know this was so important and I regret it so much. Dental problems are very common with small dogs and I don’t want anyone else’s dog to suffer. I put some pictures below of her so you can see what she looks like.

!Donation based commisions!

Hey guys, this isn’t something I normally do and I’m hoping I’ll only have to do just the one post about it.

My little sister, Emma, is 8 years old. She is a quiet girl, sensitive, she’s very caring. She loves animals, constantly drawing them and finding videos of them, talking to stray dogs and cats. So one day she got the privilege to own a ferret. After a million name changes she settled on Whiskers.

Whiskers brought her out of her shell, taught her responsibility and makes her happy. She would be nothing without this ferret. Sadly, something has been going on with him. His stomach is stiff and he’s lethargic. Less playful, choosing to sit and lay around. My little sister is devastated and really worried about him but we can’t afford a trip to the vet. Getting a ferret seen is expensive and my family is going through hard times right now. Neither mine or my moms money is enough to go towards the funds for a check-up and we’re scared it’ll get worse the longer he’s left like this.

I’m not asking for much, even just a reblog or a dollar will do. But we need help raising money to get him checked on and then some for any tests and medicine he may need. We’ve tried everything possible to take care of him and we still are. So here’s what I’m doing

!I’ll do a commision for each donation!

-They’ll just be simple sketches, I don’t have the time to do much but I hope maybe a drawing for a couple dollars will encourage more people to donate.

These are just ones I have in my phone gallery, if you’re interested please feel free to dm me and I’ll show you more of my digital stuff

Kismet is my 18 year old heart horse. Last month, her health began to take a turn. We began treating what we thought was an abscess in her hoof but with no improvement. We have had a farrier out multiple times to try to alleviate the pain and adjust the angle of her hoof. Unfortunately, this past week she seems to have taken a turn for the worse. She is wobbly in her legs, stiff, does not want to move, and attempting to keep weight off her foot.

I have had the nearest equine veterinarian out multiple times now to try to assess the situation and help her. We can not seem to pinpoint what IS the issue.

I am attempting this because I need help paying for her medical bills. The first vet visit was $130 and they returned a week later to take x-rays, which was a $420 visit. They visited again (4/30/2021) to check on the new symptoms of her wobbly legs and still at a standstill on a diagnosis. We are going to try doing blood work and a chiropractor. She is scheduled to be seen by a different vet that specializes in equine (5/5/2021) for their possible prognosis. I need the funds as quickly as I can get them so I do not get too far behind in her medical bills. I am currently unpaid for the $420 bill and have not received the others in the mail.

I rescued Kismet at a equine auction in 2015 and we quickly became attached. Kismet is my heart horse and she means so much to me. I would really appreciate any help that I can get. I have many more rescues that I care for daily at my own expense, and this came upon us so suddenly. I am terrified to lose her and seeing her in pain breaks my heart. I will add photos of vet bills as proof.

Thank you so much if you choose to help and donate – I will be sure to pay the kindness forward in the future.

HELP HERE!!!

Saying goodbye…

https://gofund.me/1e2bfdf7

I never wanted to have to make this post, but then again I never wanted to have to say goodbye to my best friend. A little backstory:

I’ve always loved animals, from when I was a child and would sneak out during storms to sit with the puppies in the shed so they weren’t scared, to being told there was something wrong with me because I preferred my cousins dog to her kids. I’ve always had a special bond with animals, but nothing prepared me for how attached I’d get to Baby. Last year, I was driving home and saw a dog barking at a boy walking, and knew from his reaction it wasn’t his. As I usually do ( I pick up strays and help find their owners or foster if there is no owner) I lured her to me with a hotdog and for the first time, my sweet girl came to me. She was skittish but so sweet. Her owner came out and explained she wouldn’t come to her.

I drove her home and helped get her on a leash (she wouldn’t allow her owner to leash her) and talked to the woman, who told me that Baby (the gorgeous Shepherd) was dumped in their yard and they’d had her for a while but couldn’t keep up with her getting out all the time, as her husband had cancer. I immediately gave them my number and told them to call me if they ever needed me to catch her. They did, and every time they asked if I wanted her. At the time, I was renting and wasn’t allowed to have animals. I did take her on walks and McDonalds runs and spent as much time with her as I could. Soon, my grandma passed away and I asked if I could take Baby for the weekend. The arrangement was going to be a shared custody type deal.

I never brought her back (except to say hello and visit, but not to stay). There was absolutely no way I could give up on those big, sweet eyes. I hid her in my apartment until I was able to buy a house with a fenced in backyard and give her the home she deserved. I met Baby for the first time in April, 2021. I took her with me in May, 2021. In June 2021, I brought Baby to her forever home where she would be loved and adored until her last day. Some personal things went down in the end of June through July and I was not in a good place. I had a thought out plan about how I was going to end my life. The only thing that kept me from making that decision was Baby. I didn’t trust anyone to take care of her the way she deserved, so for her, I kept going. It feels dramatic to say it, but it is 100% accurate that Baby saved my life. My love and devotion to her gave me a reason to stay, and re-think the situation. She was, in every possible way, my best friend.

Fast forward to March 2022. Baby had become lethargic in the last few months, but I attributed it to her age, as she was almost ten years old. I woke up at 3 in the morning on March 9th and found Baby struggling to breathe with a mass on her neck that seemed to appear out of nowhere. I freaked out and rushed her to the emergency vet nearby. They triaged her and said she was stable enough to go to our regular vet when they opened. We did, and after several appointments and tests, Baby was diagnosed with cancer. At first, they thought it was lymphoma, but all the test results were inconclusive. Many, MANY vet bills and zero concrete answers later, I posted a fundraiser on Facebook asking for help with the costs, as I was told that comfort care was the best option because referring me to an oncologist could run $10,000.

An absolute angel of a woman contacted me and told me she would assist with vet bills if I took Baby to VCA. After sobbing on the phone and expressing a thousand thank you’s, I did. Appointment after appointment, test after test, and still we weren’t sure what was really wrong with my Baby girl. Until we got a diagnosis. (I may not have the wrong word as it is not actually written down in vet records, it just says sarcoma and they told me it was a cancer of the blood and tissue.)

Hemangiopericytoma, a type of aggressive sarcoma. Hemangiopericytomas are a type of rare tumor involving blood vessels and soft tissues.

An aggressive cancer that apparently doesn’t respond well to chemotherapy. With the mass placement, they didn’t feel comfortable doing surgery and chemo wasn’t an option, so they told me we had exhausted the options they had. Defeated but still not willing to give up, we tried a more natural veterinarian who had previously had good results with her type of cancer. Twice a week we drove over an hour away to get concentrated vitamin C infusions and some sort of heat glove therapy while giving her a TON of herbal supplements in a last ditch effort to save her life. On May 10, we went for an appointment and were told that the cancer was not responding to treatment like he had hoped. He said if she didn’t improve by the next appointment, it was time to consider comfort care. I moved the date of her birthday party up (which was going to be a BANGER, btw. I bought her a cute little tutu and like, 90 paw print balloons.) That same night, while at my boyfriends house, Baby was having trouble standing on her own.

We rushed her to VCA (the closest animal hospital open) where they triaged her and put her on oxygen. The doctor came in and told us that Baby had internal bleeding and that she would not recommend taking her home, as it could quickly turn into a crisis. She recommended humane euthanasia in order to have control over our goodbye and make sure Baby had the most peaceful passing possible. I was and am, completely shattered from the loss of my Baby girl. While I knew it was coming, I thought I had just a little more time… We laid her to rest this past Sunday after writing letters and crying (me sobbing).

Now, instead of being able to mourn and recover from the loss of a soul that was so, so special to me, I’m being hounded by the VCA with daily phone calls about paying the bill from the day she passed. I absolutely can not afford this bill with my current financial status and my care credit account is already at its max from the previous bills before we started going to VCA. I have also contacted other organizations who help with these types of debts but no one has responded. Most of the visits were thankfully covered by the sweet woman who stepped up but she is not covering this one and any help to pay this off (or even just sharing to get the word out to someone who can help) and focus on healing my shattered heart would be immensely appreciated. Thank you.

Due to some slight changes in circumstances I’ve started a GoFundMe for Mouzer’s medical expenses

So far I have raise $115 to go towards getting her an ultrasound, which costs around $300-$500. I also currently owe a little over $500 to my friend that footed her initial vet visit and x-ray.

I am trying to update my info on selling @CuteCustomEars to raise funds as well. Please share this around or donate if you can. Anything is appreciated, even sharing. Thank you!

Hi everyone this is not my usual post begging for phone bill money. So some of you remember me saying Penny’s been throwing up every day and I thought she was really sensitive to my mom’s dog food but today I noticed her vomit was full of little blood clots. I called the vet immediately and they told me it’d run about $200 for an exam and medicine for nausea, to see if she has ulcers, etc. but if the first visit doesn’t fix it they’ll have to go to blood work and X-rays which’ll be $600 more. So I’m just trying to raise the $200 for the basic visit and see if that fixes it before asking for any more.

Please, she’s my best friend and my favorite person in the world. She’s the only thing keeping me going. Losing her has been my worst fear for the last 2 years because she was such a tiny little runt I wasn’t sure she’d make it at all. I mean, look at her size. She’s a pit bull for Christ’s sakes. We can’t afford for her to lose nutrients. I will do anything for this $200.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention, Penny’s vet DOES NOT BILL. This has to be paid up front for her to be seen at all.

I’ve already made an announcement on Twitter so I decided that since everyone was so great helping me last time I’d reach out again!

Lollipop needs medication that currently costs $400 because it can only be bought in bulk and I have a standing vet bill of $475 currently. I’m opening reduced price commissions so I can make a dent in these bills.

If you can’t help currently I would appreciate it immensely if you could please reblog this post! Thank you!
