I think there’s a lot more to Wendy’s story. I’m curious the kind of young woman she would develop into.

Everyone always wants to talk about Hook or Pan. Everyone always wants to debate which one is good and which is evil - who we’re supposed to follow and who we aren’t. The Peter Pan mythos has pretty much shrunk down to nothing but Hook and Pan (Hook, SyFy’s Neverland, Pan, OUAT, etc). Occasionally Tinkerbell factors in (Hook, Disney’s Tinkerbell, OUAT, etc). There’s one character, however, that always gets sidelined - which is puzzling since they are the main character of both the play and the book. That character is, of course, Wendy Darling.
Peter Pan is Wendy’s coming of age story. Wendy who decides to run away from home. Wendy who realizes that she must grow up - and that there’s no shame in that. Wendy who sees Peter as deficient and sees Hook as empty and decides that, no, she doesn’t want to be a part of that. Wendy gets the adventure she’s always wanted and she turns away because she realizes that it’s lacking. She’s the only one who truly sees the hollowness of being young forever. Barrie even says “You need not be sorry for her. She was one of the kind that likes to grow up. In the end she grew up of her own free will a day quicker than other girls.”
People always debate on who the hero is. When they learn that Peter could be horrid they assume it has to be Hook. Of course, the answer is that neither of them are the hero. Wendy is the hero of the story. You’re not supposed to be like Peter, who kept every good and bad aspects of being a child and can’t tell right from wrong. You’re not supposed to be Hook, either. He let go of everything childish and loving about him and became bitter and evil. They’re both the extreme ends of the scale. You’re supposed to fall in the middle, to hold onto the things about childhood that make it beautiful - the wonder, the imagination, the innocence - while still growing up and learning morality and responsibility. You’re not supposed to be Hook. You’re not supposed to be Peter Pan.
You’re supposed to be Wendy Darling.

“Wendy, I need you again” a lunch monitor spoke quietly to the girl. Wendy looked up from her book to look at the older woman. She let out a small sigh and got up from the tree she was under, she already knew what she was needed for. “I don’t know why he refuses to go to the nurse, he told me he isn’t moving until you fix it” the older woman sighed. It was true for some reason Peter Pan refused to go to the nurse. He only wanted his bird to fix his injuries. Wendy followed the lunch monitor over to the set of benches and there sat an angry looking Peter. “Bird” he grunted. Before walking any closer she looked up at the lunch monitor “I’ll take care of it” she smiled and shuffled over to where Peter was sitting. “What did you do this time?” She asked examining his face cupping it between her tiny hands. “I got in a fight. Some kids were talking about how they pulled your hair and were laughing at you. So I punched one” he growled. She sighed her eyes now focused on his busted lip “stop getting into fights because of me you dummy” she huffed running her thumb lightly across his lip. He winced and her eyes widened “s-sorry! Um so you should be okay” she smiled slightly. “Bird you didn’t kiss it” he frowned at her. Wendy’s heart felt as if it stopped. She always kissed his BooBoos better but this was on his lips. “B-but it’s on your lips” she whispered. “So? Kiss it better bird” he grumbled. “But then then we’d be……” She trailed and brought her voice down to an even lower volume “kissing” she squeaked. “Just kiss it better already” he huffed crossing his arms. She panicked and just kissed her hand and pretty much slapped him in the mouth. “Ow! that hurt!” Peter whined. “I-I-sorry! That was going to be a real kiss and n-no!” She squealed. “It’s just a BooBoo. I wasn’t going to kiss you” he frowned at her. “Kiss this one better now” he grumbled. She sighed, he wasn’t going to let this go. “Where does it hurt” she mumbled. “Are you going to slap me again?” He snapped at her. She pouted “no.”. Then he slowly moved his small hand up and pointed at the right corner of his bottom lip. She repositioned her hands back on his cheeks and leaned down placing her small lips against just that spot of his lips. His eyes widened and his face turned red. She pulled back certain her cheeks were now tainted the same color as his. “I didn’t think you would actually do it” he whispered. “I felt bad” she whispered back and let go of his face. “Don’t get in any more fights moron” she grumbled then walked away, trying to ignore how fast her heart was beating.
The trees seemed to react to his presence.
Every time he was near the dark leafy branches that surrounded her, and from which her cage hung, would sway in a sudden mysterious wind, as if they were being brought to life by the energy that flowed from his very being. This was why, when she noticed the giant leaves at the end of the path moving back and forth, creating a wave of soft wind that travelled down the overgrown trail until it gently rocked her bamboo prison, she knew that he had come to see her.
“Hello,Bird.” He said from below her. Wendy rolled her eyes at the smugness in his voice, choosing not to respond. She knew that would annoy him, and of the few pleasures Wendy experienced in her dreary life, irritating the boy king of Neverland was her favourite. She continued to lay still on her back, diagonally across the square bottom of the cage, enjoying the motion her personal prison as it swayed to and fro in the breeze. “I thought I’d come and pay you a visit.”
How glorious, she thought, to be graced with a visit from such a pretentious little boy. In all honesty, Wendy had grown tired of being afraid of him. Long gone were the days where she would beg to be let out of the cage, to go home to her parents and her brothers. After an unmeasurable length of years on this godforsaken island, the once proper Darling girl from London had lost her ability to care about going home, about the morals her mother had raised her with or even the love they once shared. She never did accept her imprisonment, but Wendy would sooner die than fall at the feet of the boy king again.

Dear Darlings,
I’m not enjoying my vacations. Summer doesn’t suit me and I’m holed up inside my room, close to my AC. Well, the end result was that I’ve watched over 50 movies in two weeks and I was looking for something new, something different. So, yesterday my friend said “Oye, Kimmypoo (ignore the nickname) check out The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy, would you? On YouTube, you’d like it”
To be honest I’m not a fan of Peter Pan adaptations but this show is amazing! Shawn deLoache has written a masterpiece. I spent the whole night watching the series and woke up at 3pm, I was sleep drunk all day lol
It’s a romantic comedy about a Peter Pan (Kyle Walters) and his friends who live in modern world Ohio, Neverland, USA. Peter, who is in his late-twenties doesn’t want to grow up. He wants to live his life having fun with his friends Wendy, John, Michael, Lily and his fairy, Tinkerbell, He is comic artist who doesn’t want to waste time working. His ultimate goal is to win Wendy’s heart, which is not as easy as he thinks.
Wendy Darling (Paula Rhodes) is a grown up. She is an advice vlogger who wants to be a writer. She is tired of her small town and everyday life, Wendy wants something new. She wants to go to big city and make a career. Her brother Michael Darling (Brennan Murray) is childish but very sweet. John Darling (Graham Kurtz) is a very organized person. He had a tendency to clean obsessively when he is drunk. Lilly Bagha (Lovlee Carroll) is a rich hot entrepreneur which only makes her hotter. She always gets what she wants. Even though she seems bitchy, she is sweet in her own way.
And what can I say about Tinkerbell? We all know how she is, first she makes mistakes and then with her tinkering skills she fixes it.
The casting is done by Jenni Powell who produced The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
The characters are well developed and well-acted. I love the way how this series shows the importance of both growing up and having fun. It’s a big pie made of jokes, drama, love, jealousy and a crafty villain. I appreciate the villain, he is very handsome ;)
I will not talk about the second season, I will not! It’s great, it’s amazing and there’s one mystery I would love to solve.
My favorite character? John Darling. You gotta love those sexy cheekbones!
He turned to Wendy and couldn’t help remembering the day they had spent together all those years ago.

Pirate: No splash, Captain.
With a swift movement of his dagger, the rope tied around the Lost Boys falls to the ground.
The crew surrounded the Lost Boys, weapons at the ready.
The Lost Boys fire their weapons, hitting all of the surrounding pirates.
Hook: 'Tis some fiend fighting me. A flying devil!
Peter: A coward?
With a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other, Peter stood over Hook triumphantly.
Wendy: But, Peter… Oh, that is, *curtsies* Captain Pan.
Wendy: Could you tell me, sir, where we’re sailing?
Wendy: Oh, Peter. Michael! John! We’re going home!
